I have a question, when it comes to adults why does a family member or a friend sleep in the hospital room with them? I can understand it for children not so much for adults can you please explain the reasoning behind it?
I live in Iceland and even when I was fighting cancer when I was 6 nobody could sleep in the room with me and when I had to go to Denmark for radiation therapy my family had to get a hospital hotel room. There was another bed in my hospital room but that was only for the daytime when I felt to ill to sit out walk around and just wanted to cuddle with my mom, grandma or aunt.
I've had many operations and hospital stays as an adult and I've never seen other patients have someone with them sleeping in the room with them, even if they are far away from home.
At least things aren't as bad as they were for children when my dad's generation were little, then parents could only visit their sick babies it children ONCE A WEEK! The nurses said it would disrupt the 'healing process' if the children could see their children every day.
Hoping for Paul's speedy recovery ❤
Wow, we have heard in other countries people say the same thing. No one is allowed to stay with the patient.
I always stay with him and he always stayed with me over night.
Here in the USA you can unless the patient is in the ICU.
For Paul, he would rather my help for certain things then a nurse and the bigger issue is the hospital is always understaffed. So when you call for help they may take some time. If I'm there I can jump up and help within seconds to get him food, water, or help to the bathroom.
For young kids, depends on the hospital and the age. Some will allow some won't. But they always encourage you come as much as you can as a motivator.
I'm sorry you've gone through so much, I hope your doing better in your health journey.
Usually you can have one person overnight if you have a private room
Prayers for Paul.
Thank you💚👍😃
