    This is not a combo I would have thought of. Very flavorful.

    I’m currently playing a very similar character but with a soul knife instead of mastermind that and he’s a primary rouge with five bard levels. I like how the soul knife rouges psionic blades mesh is with the whispers bard psychic blades in therms of damage type and flavor.

      Love it! A great combo that stacks a lot of psychic damage. Don't even need a weapon at that point. Your mind is the weapon! O_o

      this is also a great class for players wanting to use unusual weapons as rogues. My mate wanted to be an axe wielding dwarven rogue but the rules won't support that for sneak attack. Soul knife solves that (also shadow blades 2nd level spell for arcane tricksters). Spiked chains, spears brass knuckles bladed shields etc. no crunch change, just flavour.

    I have an NPC who's this exact multiclass, but she's a Yuan-Ti Pureblood, the version considered to be "busted", prior to the release of MotM. The premise is essentially the same, the character is one who mires the mind, and one who frequently (if not always) passes off as someone else entirely. She makes frequent use of spells like Mislead and Disguise Self (which she can do at will via the use of Eldritch Adept) and, of course, the main feature of the Whispers Bard, Mantle of Whispers. She is currently the guild master of a Thieves' Guild (think the one in Riften from Skyrim) but in a desert area, and also a very prominent figure on the black market scene, known only as "the Lady of Snakes". Very fun to RP as her, every time.

      Ooh. She sounds like a sneaky snake 😂🐍 I love this combo. Thematically a rogue who outthinks their opponents is so much fun. and of course you gotta love all that expertise.

    something I find funny is if you take rogue to level 11 you get the unfailing ability thing where ANY ability check roll below a 10 becomes a 10 if it includes your prof bonus, and with jack of all trades, that is EVERY SINGLE ONE.

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true, and not only that, if you have proficiency bonus in initiative (such as going Harengon), you can technically use it there as well as initiative is considered an ability check.

    Well to alter race, true polymotph.... as a bard high level... maybe some comvincing of DM to keeping your abilities, but could be a way... or else the feat, eldritch adept to get disguise self at will...
    cool build, by the way

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot! Disguise self at will would be remarkable for this build.

    I love rogue/bard combos. I made a Tabaxi Swashbuckler Rogue 14 / College of Swords Bard 6 named Jack of All Trades. Have you considered this build before?

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Swashbucklers are rly fun, but after trying them out a few times, I find just taking the mobile feat instead to be a better way to get the hit and run tactics. That being said, Swash CoS Bard is a very nice combo. Truthfully you cant go wrong with any bard rogue combo, they just synergize so well!

    Hello, late to the party, and I may be dumb dumb here, but Ritual Caster "Prerequisite: Intelligence or Wisdom of 13 or higher".
    And we seems to have respectively 12 and 11?
    So Ritual Caster doesn't show up in any builder.

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! As long as you make it to the party, it's never too late! I believe it's 13 in either Int/Wis/Cha maybe the class you chose first effects which it tries to use?

  • @giangabriel6111
    @giangabriel6111 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why ritual caster gave him phantom steed? Isn't just two first level spells?

    • @jacksonletts3724
      @jacksonletts3724 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The ritual caster feat lets you add rituals if you find them in written form (spell book or spell scroll). I believe he’s just assuming you find that scroll at some point.
      A lot of tables allow for a wishlist like that, but it’s not an assumption I’m particularly comfortable with in a white room environment.

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, yes, as Jackson said, the ritual caster allows you to learn this spell. You can roleplay how you found these (being a shady little bard / rogue it isn't too farfetched to say they were stolen from the college you attended.)

    Im new and was thinking of a fun detective character- lore bard x knowledge cleric, but im worried it wont be good. Is this a good idea to play?

    • @ArchAngelxDemonChao
      @ArchAngelxDemonChao ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This sounds very fun. If you would go to Level 20, my personal suggestion would be Bard 14/Cleric 6 as this would give you two expertise from Cleric and the ability to read thoughts from Knowledge Domain. The Bard Levels are for supplementary spells and more expertise in extra skills. The Bard can also eventually borrow spells from other classes which makes them very useful for playing support and being detectives.
      My primary character is an Arcane Trickster Rogue who prioritizes Investigation, Perception, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth to be his own version of a detective who can tell truths and lies or discover secrets. If you can, from my experience, I'd suggest getting Insight, Investigation, and Perception with Expertise. This would help out plenty with the idea and you have *tons* of out of combat abilities.
      The flavor here is great. A Bardic Cleric who may be from some secretive sect whose background could be along the lines of Knight of the Order or whatever you'd like (Sage also sounds nice, but all Backgrounds are fully customizable as per the PHB). An investigator who can also keep everyone together with song or instruments.
      The downsides are the casting modifiers and Multiclassing minimums. I'd go (using Standard Array) 15 CHA, 14 CON, 13 WIS, 12 DEX, 10 STR, 8 INT. This allows you to meet Multiclassing Minimums for the multiclass and keeps your health and spellcasting modifiers high enough to still have decent DC Saving Throws, or you can focus on spells that don't all require saves and are instead support and buffing spells.

      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spencer here! This sounds like a great idea! Don't worry about a build being "bad". DnD 5e is very forgiving, and things can always be easily balanced by your DM if you're feeling like you're not being useful.
      You'll find tons of "broken builds" online, but the most important thing when making a character is to have fun and create something you really would enjoy playing. I think you've done just that!

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great advice!

  • @joshuahanson6442

    Ok first off Con is never a dump stat. You want at least a +1 in Con especially when you’re a caster. You can’t just runaway and hide with out your bonus action to hide to get advantage. So that doesn’t work with the mastermind subclass ability to help you allies. So taking that subclass with this character is pointless. So many other better subclasses for rogue anyway. I love the concept of this character but needs fine tuning.

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that Con isn't rly a dump stat, you could take a couple points out of int, wisdom. I'd recommend keeping Charisma because... you know... bard. Haha. Also, the mastermind bonus action is always used to help friends, and you wouldn't usually hide, your advantage would come from your familiar.
      Turn would go something like: Familiar holds action to use help before your turn, you attack with advantage, then use bonus action to help another friend.
      I'm so glad you like the build. It may not be perfect, but I mostly go for "fun to play" over stats. =)

    Maybe you should make a script. This video is very slow paced and a lot of stumbling on words/looking for things in D&D beyond. I think if you had a script and a plan on the video it would delivery information without as much wasted time and come off more confident and direct.

    • @DungeonsDivided
      @DungeonsDivided  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Spencer here! Great note. This was the first vid from the series and I was still nailing things down. I do have a much better script on the later episodes, and these are all recorded live with no editing via our twitch channel where we all play D&D on Saturday nights as a group! A good edit would definitely increase the pacing.
