Hi, I learned this stitch as the seed stitch, Am doing this stitch right now, working on puppy blankets. Thank you for showing us this pattern, will save this pattern for my daughter and grand daughter.
This stitch has several different names... The Moss stitch... the granite stitch... the grit stitch.... But not the seed stitch, that name is a knitting stitch.
I really wish they just made a video from step 1 to the end its really hard to visualise or understand how to do it when you can only see a part of the poncho.
@@Rita-cd9bj There are different styles of learning. Some people are very visual and need to be shown step by step. There are a lot of people who just can't do it by written instructions alone. And then there are still others who need a pattern to follow, i.e., a chart. It just depends on one's learning style, not necessarily whether something is "free" or not. I get what this lady is saying. Personally, I think if you're going to put up a video on TH-cam, don't just do it half-way - do the entire project, step-by-step.
I have a question re front and back panels. When it says measure from lower edge does that mean from the start of the pattern or from the bottom of ribbing?
@@sherit8594 Im sorry if I did something wrong. I was having problems with the incomplete instruction video and found that video. It really helped, just had to try and igor the finger nails
@@gjmiller138 because this is SC and DC, there would be gathering on the side ribbing if just joined in each stitch. That's why a video showing this should be done!! Unless you are inexperienced you would know this. But you choose not to explain how to go into the side of these stitches!!!! Why???
I only see sizing measurement for child’s size. Where would o find sizing for adult? I’d like to make the correct size & but the correct amount of yarns. Please & thank you! 😊

a year later and I'm right where you are... stuck and going crazy about the collar, neck shoulder area....Mike did a video for the You and Me poncho (Same Pattern). The only problem is the pattern he works on is ....the doll. What my problem is the doll pattern calls for 1 added row to the back with the Hdc2tog on both sides...But what about the child's pattern??? Seems that detail is missing in written instructions ???? do I add or no??? ARGH my head aches!!!
I know..I went with my guys and do the shoulder shape as front and then sew it.. omg mine is super loose and I’m working on the collar and the ribbing ... cross fingers it will still be alright when it’s done
Ch10eo2o7 I figured it out on my own. Mine is coming out fine now that I gave up the pattern. I would like to help you get it tightened up. I get what you’re saying. I think I took mine apart 5 times until I realized....

I was at shaping the neck when I thought to look at the video. Everyone is correct. Waste of time as it doesn’t actually show you the poncho. Lesson learned, watch video and read all the comments first. I am now ripping out my poncho and rewinding the yarn.
The purpose of a tutorial video is to demonstrate how the pattern is made, not a visual and audio of the physical pattern. I'm sure this person is a great teacher but a video tutorial representing a large company I feel could be a little more visually comprehensive.
Since this isn't all single crochet, you should be showing how to attach the side ribbing as we go. I don't even know what to call this video!! It's not a tutorial.

Should be 28 inches or 71 cm
