Hi Anja! I love everything you create. It makes me so happy to see a notification from you. I’m currently working on this and the poncho in a weekend. I seem to be obsessed with shawls and ponchos. And it is so awesome, you taught me a new way to crochet a poncho without the points being crooked…YAY! Thank you for sharing your amazing talents with us.
I appreciate the way you shared other versions made by your testers(I assume). So often they are not highlighted but contribute so much to the creation process.
Thank you, Anja, yet another WONDERFUL creation. I have just ordered my yarn. I LOVE variegated yarn... I get very excited to get to the next colour and see how is works with the rows above and below x I am also v. impatient, so large hooks are wonderful for me..... I will make this over the Christmas period, whilst relaxing (hopefully! LOL x) xx
Hello Anya, Glad to see your lovely crochet patterns. I met a young lady named Anna years ago in Arkansas. Her fiance was a Student at Harding University. We became friens ~Our names are the same! Hope you have a Merry Christmas
Totally random comment.... Your lipstick is really pretty Anja. Perfect shade to wear with your new poncho! And I know that the grammar police are cringing.🤣😂
Loved it this is the second video of ur poncho I am watching back to back, it’s very inspiring, is there any chance we can get a written version of this to make it easier for beginners like me …thanks n keep up ur good work… stay blessed APPRECIATIONS FROM INDIA.😊
I’m so glad you like my tutorials, I don’t have a written pattern for this one but I do have my patterns listed here on my website, www.opheliatalkscrochet.com/ophelia-talks-crochet-patterns you will find all sorts of items including ponchos, shawls, blankets and the popular windspinner! Enjoy taking a look, Anja x
Ankara…I have the neckline done, but could you tell me the repeat..I have to tear out because it won’t go over my head…I used a sr yarn….guess that’s why?….love this poncho….
Turned out well! Would like to make another with DK wool but wonder if there is a way to make a less pointy poncho? Like only two posts per point, or with side points also?
Mari, you can make it in whatever yarn you wish, as long as you follow the stitch multiples, and remember for finer yarn you need more stitches! Good luck and thank you, Anja x
Nice poncho.😊 I have never made anything in super chunky before. The yardage always puts me off! By the way, what and where is the monument thing at the end of the video? 😊
Thanks for the great pattern. I'm making it in a chunky yarn though not as chunky as yours. I am not as fast as you 😅 so it will take longer to finish.what bothers me is that the point where I join shows. So I have a vertical line running down my poncho. Even in yours, for that matter but mine shows more cos my colours are not as forgiving. Any remedies welcome.
@rosabellexuereb3691, maybe try to join on one point, then use this as the back, just a thought. Other than that I have no other suggestions sorry. Thank you, Anja x
Thanks Anya. I looked up how to make an invisible join. I will try it out. Pity I have to unpick my first ten rows but it will be worth it. Might also go for a higher hook. Mine is a 6 but could try a 7 and see how it works out. Thanks again.
Hi! I love this poncho and it was so fun to make. But my "seam" where my slip stitches connect look terrible when wearing it. Any suggestions for making it look better?
If I try to make it with a thinner yarn, is it enough to make a 65cm chain then put the first increase in the middle? I'd like to use some nice yarn I have, but it's for 4/4,5 mm hook. Maybe I can use 5 mm to make it looser, I can manage it being the stitch so easy. Thanks for sharing all these nice projects ❤
Watch the video please Susan, I do tell you how long the beginning chain should be, so no matter what yarn you use you should be able to work it out, don't forget for a flowy effect use a hook bigger than normal. Anja x
Ophelia, How would I go about making this poncho, and have the sides (arms) be longer, without making the front and back points any longer than they are? Would adding some increases on the shoulders achieve that? Or just put extra stitches (6 instead of 4) into the front and back points?
Hi Vmurph, you could try the added stitches to the points, but l'm not really sure how that will help much. I like the 'arms' the length they come out, so never really thought about changing it! Anja x
I do mention at the start what hook size is recommended for the yarn I used and the actual hook I used as I wanted my poncho to be a loose stitch, however you can use any size of hook that gives you the best feeling fabric you want, thanks for watching, Anja x
Hello, I’m a bit confused, how many chains should I have? I read transcript 52+42= 94? But when I do my 24 dc’s on the other side I still have a lot of unused chains? And 52 chains linked to a circle is not large enough for my head😢. I’m using 4 wt yarn and 5.5 mm hook. What am I Missing? I can’t wait to get started!
I started making chain of 52 but so small circle for my head😂 so how many chains exactly same size as you made it. Pls share so that i can follow exactly, thanks and regards
Hi Nana, I really couldn't tell you, you need to make some chains and make sure it goes over your head, add a couple for ease, and go from there. Thank you, Anja x
Without seeing it it's a bit difficult to say what you've done wrong, have you got the right amount of stitches and points?!! I'd be inclined to frog and start again, maybe watch the video again too. Thank you is6684, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks I figured out what I did wrong! Something went wrong when I first joined to make the circle and I ended up adding a few extra DC’s by accident, haha. Restarted my poncho and it is now looking amazing!!! Thank you so much for this awesome video!!!

I just finished one, I just used regular acrylic yarn, it did take me 3 weeks but I didn't work on it as much as Anya did
