    What an absolute punch.. and this is the early 90s basically a death sentence and you can see how stone was like looking at a dead woman walking

    This episode was aired in 1990. We've come a long way since then. At that time being HIV positive was a death sentence (although not always) but now there are many drugs to treat the virus and there might be a cure soon. Medical science isn't perfect, but it saves lives.

      @@rhiannasmith9786 TBI total body irradiation delivers a fatal dose of radiation to the total body... any hiccups and you die.. hardly a cure for the general hiv patient. also the donors need to be double delta 32 which is quite rare

      from what I know a few ppl have been cured 100% which is great it means the scientist's or who ever deals with that part of it are on the way to finding a cure

      First time I heard about a cure for AIDS was in the late 1980's. At a news conference a little known doctor named Anthony Fauci said they were 2-3 years from a cure and that was at least 35 years ago. I wouldn't hold my breath.

      A blind test. Only the DA would know the results, it wasn't from her personal doctor.

      A wonderfully acted, if tragic, scene. That's the proof of a talented actor. You almost believe she really has the disease. You can see it in her face and voice.

      Because it was part of a blind test. There is no relationship between the doctor and this woman. The DA office learned of the results.

      It's probably an accurate description of how seriously people took this back then. Today, it's normal to blur the line between the information and entertainment aspects of an ongoing news story, but back then it was still sort of new. The real Mayflower Madam actually appeared in spots for a city newspaper (think it was TDN) advertising excerpts of her book which appeared in it's magazine.

      According to a Google search that took less than 10 seconds, they actually can as long as its appropriate, if it was inappropriate or disruptive they would be given a warning and then either removed or held in contempt (idk spelling on that one)

      Everyone reacts differently. When she had time to think about it later and alone, I suspect her mask would have slipped, and she would have been much more emotional. In front of strangers, she may have felt the need to appear strong.
