  • In this video I'm going to show you how to install the rockers/side skirts on your classic aircooled 911/912/930. The tricky part is definitely the rubber strips; most instructions said you could slide them on, but this is a better way to do it!

Thanks! I was annoyed I couldn't find a video, so I try to document my process in hopes of helping people out. Cheers!

Nicely done. Was that an aftermarket seal you used? I don’t think I have that on my 77 but as they say, “someone’s been here before”.😂

Nope, all mid years should have these and the rocker panels. They make the car look a bit lower, which is nice.

I was thinking caulking iron while you were putting in the bottom edge with the screwdriver.
Would leaving the strip in the sun (thinking of rubber garden hoses in summer) to make it pliable? Might get too hot to touch as well.

Hot water worked pretty well, in my opinion. Still not a super fun job.

Going to try this today. Thinking of leaving it in the sun for an hour and then use sylglide instead of soapy water because it doesn't dry out or promote rust. Am I overthinking it? Probably... 😊

      How’d it go?

@@addvancedgarage I got one of them on today! It is harder than it looks. :-) I found that I could slide about half of the bottom track on starting from one of the cut outs in the rocker panel, if that makes sense. That saves a lot of hard work pushing the bottom part in. I eventually found that taking a plastic trim tool with an angle at the bottom, I could tip the lip out and it made it much easier. Once the bottom lip is in, the top is not as hard, and using a plastic radiator comb with a little wedge at the bottom, I could tip the lip out again enough to get it to slide on.
