Great tip on priming the oil system I have a 95 cobra and will be trying that tomorrow car has been sitting for about a year without being started but the motor has not been opened
@mikeinvegas1 I was having idle surges. I would pull the spout connector and see if the problems go away. Of the surges, stop, you have a bad distributor.
That aftermarket dizzy is JUNK!!! Replace your PIP sensor in your factory one, don’t throw it away, they are getting harder to find. Guarantee you’ll be having the same issue not far down the road. The stock dizzy’s are better than any aftermarket junk. Make sure to buy a Motorcraft pick up to replace the one that has gone bad.
LOL, I don't throw anything away. I have a shelf that has all old parts. You bring up a good point. Its not uncommon to have to buy 2 or 3 Distributors because they don't fit or broken.
Did this fix your problem? I’ve been chasing a idle issue on my 95 GT for about a year now. Super frustrating. Smoke tested and everything is tight. I pulled code 212. Spout grounded. I’ve changed the PIP sensor 3 times in about 12 years. Could it be possibly going out again?
So the changing the distributor fixed my issue (which contains the PIP). If you pull the spout connector and the issue goes away, then you know it is the PIP.
@@chasingmustangs I didn't think so lol. So I swapped distributors to when I had in another car actually an engine I pulled out of another car and right now I'm trying to get the crank pulley bolt tightened after I accidentally left the dog on it socket on briefly when I started a car smh. Now I got a research getting the engine to stop turning I know how to do it without the engine in the car but with everything so close
Hi i just finished replacing my lower upper intake manifold gaskets i put distributor back in. I had it marked. Got it started. I turned the dizzy its at 19* cant move it anymore. I think the wire wont let it. Do i need to reset the dizzy? Which way do i turn it?
Hello I yesterday i replaced my distributor in my 94 Mustang 5.0 and after installing the distributor the car was idling kinda rough. The RPM kept moving to 1 up and down so I removed my spout connector and the car is running perfectly now. What should I do next ?
Did you replace the distributor with a new distributor? The reason I ask, disconnecting the spout connector usually points to a bad PIP module in the distributor.
More than likely you have a distributor that has the wrong gear material for your camshaft. I have never seen this and the only recommendation I have is to rotate the engine and keep trying.
I think I may have this same problem… mine started running rough out of the blue and would “fix” itself but then runs rough again.. not sure what it is. The problem is intermittent but has gotten worse over the last 2 weeks. Distributor going bad?
Didn’t idle much better but all the symptoms point to the distributor. Under normal driving and cruising it misses, bucks and jumps and backfires… but under hard acceleration it clears up
Hey I have a question. I have a 95 mustang gt convertible automatic. When I first bought it, it was running fine. All of a sudden, it wouldn’t crank. I took it to a mechanic where he installed a brand new distributor, new starter, new spark plugs and wires, new coil pack, ICM a few months ago and still no start. It has gas and it never gave me no issues. It’s Turing over strong but seems like it can’t catch any spark. Do you think it’s time for a new or better distributor? Can you help? Also, all of a sudden, when I’m at the red light, the car likes to bog and shut completely off if I’m not giving it a little gas while holding the brakes. I watched your video on it and replaced everything. And it does the exact same thing when I pull out that connector. When I take off , it hesitates until it’s around 2000 rms and then it’s ok. But when I floor it, it’s gets to 3000 rmps it’s back to the hesitation like it doesn’t want to open up all the way and then it sounds like it’s spitting something from the exhaust. I replaced the o2 sensors and cats but still does it. Do you think it’s the timing?
Wow, you got alot of issues going on. If I were in your position I would borrow a ODB1 scanner and see if any errors are showing up. It could be alot of things. Possible bad ignition coil or CCRM. Have you tested fuel pressure?
i had 2 things going on with my 94 gt stick for yEars. it felt less powerful than my 3.8 auto, if i tried flooring it i'd backfire, and rev would spike n stall at red lights. ...turns out my mass airflow sensor and my idle air control sensor were dirty. a few sprays of some carb cleaner on both sensor things and suddenly i was laying rubber at every green, and it stopped stalling at reds. 😎
I’m dealing with this also. Mine idles okay but has no power past 3500 rpm. Fun toys though! Kinda want to Ls swap it. I enjoy these cars better than 4th gen camaros more comfortable IMO

I think that’s exactly what’s wrong w my 95 gt. ThNks bro!
Nice 👍 much respect Boss Man 💯🤜🤛💯
A good thing to do while doing this, is replace the oil pump primer. The good ones aren't that expensive.
Great video. Was you having an idle surge? I have a bad idle surge on warm startup up. Tried everything except distributor.

@@chasingmustangs you can't drive around with the spout disconnected though to diagnose things right lol?

You can't move below 19 degrees or above 19 degrees? Recommendation is 10 to 12 btdc degrees timing with spout connector pulled on factory setup.

@@cinomoneyy Do you have an OBD1 reader to check for any codes? O2 sensor and coolant temp sensor could show disconnected.

I would pull the spout connector and see how the car idles. If the car idles correctly, then you know the distributor could be bad.

Pull the spout connector and see how the engine idles. If it idles fine with the spout connector pulled, then it is pointing to your distributor.
