On social media this week, there has been a little bit of feuding and I have been sent some posts to respond to.
Here is the thing, influencer marketing is growing and growing and with this there is going to be an endless sea of dodgy products being promoted by people who don't like or use the products.
I thought now would be a handy time to remind people what influencer marketing is actually like (a lot of the time, not all) by going into more detail on a documentary that I briefly discussed in a previous video (Blindboy Undestroys the World, BBC Three).
In this episode, three influencers discuss marketing for a new weight loss product (that doesn't exist) and one of the ingredients of this fictitious weight loss product is hydrogen cyanide.
Yes, people are prepared to promote products they haven't used.
Yes, people are prepared to promote stuff they don't even understand.
If you are on social media, there is a decent chance you have been sold to by someone who is promoting a product they don't even like or haven't even tried, and that sucks.

SO glad you made a video about this Ben. I've noticed that in my pursuit of educating people about misinformation or scams that *I have become sort of an asshole to people who don't know me.* The balance is tough to find but it is a worthwhile goal. How have you been able to find the balance?
