As someone who isn't too crazy about speedruns, this was so satisfying to watch because I didn't even think the game would allow us to do 38 stunt jumps without setting a timer to deliver the car (and plus, that last one was always a nightmare to complete).
yeah the whole strat of doing then IN a mission is so smart, i want to cover some of the older runs in a bonus video to show how it changed. we used to do all the ones at the docks in a panto, because it was easier to fit on this skinny ramps lol
Nah, usually when a mission doesn't explicitly state there is a time limit, there isn't one. Putting one here would be nonsensical anyway. You have the gold medal objectives and that's it.
I sadly don't think that many people understand how insanely difficult this run is. Whenever people ask me what i thought the hardest WR is to beat in this game i always instantly say All Stunt Jumps. Nailing all 50 of them with all the different landings zones is insane. Your first All Stunt Jumps guide made me start running it back in the day. maybe the second itteration of it will make me get back to that category...
I agree with both how the mod definitely helped and how hard it still is to actually maintain a maximum speed. even if drive lines showing exact path and brake points where used. Without some guidance it'd take forever to actually remember the route. I was imagining having pace notes and a co driver like rally racing being only way to have a chance if I where to attempt this.
Considering the incredibly non-linear category that this is, I can't imagine how much time and effort was spent in simply just knowing the most optimal order to take all the stunt jumps, let alone the skill and luck required in moving around random traffic. The boxes shown are actually pretty cool and useful, so thanks for showing them!
The route is definitely a huge part of this run. I am considering making a comparison to the older runs so that i can show how the route changed (and giving me a chance to talk about who came up with the changes!). the mod is wicked, and the main reason i made this vid. i considered making another vid with boxes/no-boxes side by side so people could really appreciate how much harder it is without the boxes
Don't get me wrong, i have nothing with speedruns (do like to watch some) but whenever i hear mod or whatever to me it's cheating. It's like giving someone a third leg to run against Bolt. That's really down to the editing more than the script. You can cut out pauses wherever you want and lengthen or shorten specially curated clips to fit the speaking. I personally edit the audio first, then add the video to fit the audio, and I'd imagine most editors do the same
@@filmandfirearms but here’s the thing. They didn’t do any editing to the footage. It’s one clip played out in real time because it has to be since it’s a speed run with a timer. In scripting I learned a lot about how vehicle damage works in GTA. There are three health pools: engine, body, and gas tank that are all set to 1000. Only engine and tank will affect your car’s performance when they get to less than 400. Melee attacks do fixed damage to the vehicle’s body unless you hit a specific spot like the hood or grill for engine damage. Firearms also do fixed damage in the same way, but some can also hit the engine from the side fenders. Hitting obstacles does a lot of damage as long as you hit head on and the obstacle is solid. Any sort of glancing impact or impacts with vehicles usually do little to no damage. Your car flipping and rolling also does little to no damage, but almost every impact that’s isn’t dead on is kinda random as well. Most interesting thing about the damage values is destroying windows counts for the entire amount of the car’s body health separate from the car’s actual body If you shoot all the windows even just once the body health will be zero.

The speed gained from brake boosting is simply phenomenal. I tried it myself, with success, but my PC is too weak so as soon as I gain any speed it'll struggle to keep up :D
it is unfortunate that it's somewhat hardware based, but, as the game ages, at least it'll be less and less a problem. my original stunt jumps vid was on a 980, and saurus was working with a 1080 for this one

i didnt go into details in this vid for the sake of brevity, but theres some jumps that almost randomly fail for speedruns too. the one into the airport you have to angle on just slightly left and not too slow, otherwise it fails even when you hit nothing, for example.
Little Update to this: Szau just beat his World Record again. The time is now at 21:51. There was only really one new strat, a different way to call the cab at the oifields jump, otherwise it´s just very optimized gameplay. he still lost around 20 seconds to a few crashes and to bad cop spawns, so the time can go even lower
Hey man, just wanna tell you that when i was doing the platinum trophy for gta a few momths back, I saw your original stunt jump videp to make it through so thank you :)
tbh, I myself tried GTA V stunt jumps before for 100%, that single light house one only took me already more than one hour, and after around 1 hour I was still failing so I just gave it up since I only need 25 of them to get 100%. This is amazing.
@@FriendlyBaron Well, you know, newer games are more forgiving. It seems that 100% is defined to be 'you tried this feature enough' but not 'really completed'. Similar as stranger and freak missions with only Franklin's required. Back in the day for GTA III though, for all those Luigi/Joey/Kenji/Asuka missions, if you missed then they are missed, no 100% for you and you have to start over.
Gotta admire the optimism of the Taxi driver that sees Franklin combat roll out of an identical now-empty and partially destroyed Taxi and still stops to pick him up
Wait, this wasn't the on mission 0 video! I enjoyed this. It's fun to see a short and super technical speedrun for this game. And I feel vindicated because so many of those landing zones smell like a bovine butt.
yeah my voice has been fricked for a week and a half after getting some kind of cold, i can only record for like 30min until im coughing too much for the day, luckily this jump video and the JP language one were already recorded
Such a great video on this run, loved the way you presented the info, made me feel like I could do the run (way slower) with a few hours of re-watching this XD. As a gamer for life, this content is gold for anxiety before bed.
Awesome to see you making content again!!! Also, when we re-spawn at the Sandy hospital, there's a Rebel in view to the west. Is this vehicle too far away to run to? If so, would its differing handling line make up for any time losses as we do the two remaining jumps in the area?
good question! so, theres a channel where i send my videos before release, not just to patreons, but also to a couple of gtav's top runners for review to ensure accuracy. alexhonix brought to my attention in there a runner, ortinet, had a sanchez motorcycle spawn in there and took it, and it saved them about 21 seconds over a cab (waiting + driving). i want to do some extra testing with this (part of why in the end of the video i talk about making a bonus video for stunt jumps) as the motorcycle is definitely worth it, and i think from very old testing, something like a rebel is the /best/ vehicle that spawns there (usually its a voodoo or bus which are toooo slow), but the rebel is about the same as a taxi, however, since you don't practice with a rebel often, it changes your muscle memory and makes jumping harder, so not really worth it.
So glad you are back to making TH-cam videos. I have binge watched your Casual vs Speedrun videos so much just hoping that you would start making videos again
So cool to see that carjacking from the passenger side is actually faster. I've always suspected that it was faster and used it myself for years but I've never seen confirmation of that before.
When I first started getting into gtao, I realized my personal cars would always show up outside of my vision cone, so I've known about and have been exploiting that ever since! Been quite helpful in several moments.
@dwcLDN he killed his dog live on stream and then ate the dog without even cooking the dog and then he wore the dog's skin as a coat and started barking all "woof woof" and thinks that he's a dog now
OMG... You finally started uploading... Bro please keep uploading... We need another part of speedrun vs casual gta san Andreas... I have watched the old videos for more than 50 times...
These stupid boxes your vehicle has to land in to complete each jump explains a lot, I had a feeling it must have worked like that, though some of those boxes are also way bigger than you'd think for how often I failed a jump for seemingly no reason. Some of these jumps felt like such BS. Oddly I got that lighthouse jump on my first try, and that's considered one of the harder, if not hardest ones? I had the hardest times with the jumps at the docks/pier.
Speed runners are crazy clever/persistent how they work this stuff out man. Not gunna lie I would find it TEDIOUS trying to work this shit out for myself lol
You should do a speedrunner (2019) vs speedrunner (2022) comparison series where you compare the old speedrunner from the "casual vs speedrunner" to new and modern strats.
I don't even have the patience to find all of the stunt jumps to bother trying them normally, figuring out the most efficient route and methods of getting them all is some determination that I don't think I could ever muster
thats why its such a collaborate process! as i touched on at the end of the video, its been like 4 years of this category being a thing to get this optimized, so i think i want to make a second video going over some of the specific contributions people have made, and how it changed the run over time
please make a video compiling all of the fastest/risky runs so we can enjoy few hours of just jaw dropping content like jumping over alamo sea in the paleto bank scout mission so in other words worlds fastest spliced run
There is a community channel on the GTAV Speedrun discord that tracks the fastest a mission has ever been done. they don't always include the alamo style jump though, or every strat. it'd be a HUGE project to combine them all, let alone at a consistent visual quality and with points to actually line up. Basically, it's not a "no" but, its also a long off, only "maybe" project

heh, not directly trying to reference him there, though maybe i picked up the casualness from him haha. it's more of a reference to the old version of this video i did in 2018 or 2019 i forget, but, i made an older style guide using my WR at the time footage
Some of those jumps were obnoxiously finicky for a casual player, but of course the speedrunners nail them. Nice vid 👍
i didnt go into details in this vid for the sake of brevity, but theres some jumps that almost randomly fail for speedruns too. the one into the airport you have to angle on just slightly left and not too slow, otherwise it fails even when you hit nothing, for example.
Amazing content you’ve brought back i hope to see a revive in your channel with this hard work you’re starting to put back in
thanks!
Hey man, just wanna tell you that when i was doing the platinum trophy for gta a few momths back, I saw your original stunt jump videp to make it through so thank you :)
nice!
Dude im soo glad ur back i love ur vid
thanks!
Had to do a double take for a second, Glad to see you back Baron.
do a triple check just to make sure
@@FriendlyBaron yup, your here.
Damn 2 years since the GTA battle of the century
tbh, I myself tried GTA V stunt jumps before for 100%, that single light house one only took me already more than one hour, and after around 1 hour I was still failing so I just gave it up since I only need 25 of them to get 100%. This is amazing.
the 25/50 needed for "100%" still annoys me to this day
@@FriendlyBaron Well, you know, newer games are more forgiving.
This man completed more stunt jumps in 22 minutes than i have in 9 years…
completing 50 jumps faster than your time in the bathroom after a taco bell visit
10:10 If you've ever tried speedrunning, you won't need to look at a map to understand why the speedrunner wanted to die.
I use the looking back strat every time I call my mechanic in gta online, biggest save of my life
Gotta admire the optimism of the Taxi driver that sees Franklin combat roll out of an identical now-empty and partially destroyed Taxi and still stops to pick him up
Wait, this wasn't the on mission 0 video!
This man disappears for 2 years and drops three fire videos in less than a month. Respect
Zero competition tbf
Such a great video on this run, loved the way you presented the info, made me feel like I could do the run (way slower) with a few hours of re-watching this XD. As a gamer for life, this content is gold for anxiety before bed.
glad you enjoyed, thanks! i have been told by people they use my videos to fall asleep and im down with it
Your videos are always superb. Great to have you uploading again Baron, looking forward to whatever's next :)
thanks!
I was just watching your old video on this category last night, awesome to see the improvements!
YEAH!
Oh.......he's back.......
Great to see another video!
I was just rewatching your speedrun strat videos today, keep it up man!
thanks!
This content is bonkers, and I usually like low, wide bodys but I think that’s not the strat in this case 😂
Just realized you came back, amazing news!!!!! Hoping you'll continue the gta sa speedrun series!
i'd like to in a bit yeah!
Hey glad your back baron, screw all the stuff that happened before your speed runner vs casual series is iconic
I dont know whats more impressive the run itself or the explanation of it lol. Well done.
from my view, it's the run itself!
@@FriendlyBaron Thank you for the reply! I wasn't certain of the spawns there, but that all makes sense. Thanks!
This is incredibly well made. Thanks youtube for recommending this to me
glad you enjoyed!
That's my mod! :D
HEY YOU
Those ridiculously strict landing zones explains why I fail 99% of my stunt jump attempts lol
Bro wtf happened? I MISS YOU BARON!! 😭
he got called out for being a dick
So glad you are back to making TH-cam videos. I have binge watched your Casual vs Speedrun videos so much just hoping that you would start making videos again
There aren't cougars at stunt jumps!!
Thank you, your guide helped me do them all.
Deluxo all the way, except for ones with water, where i used Toreador.
hah smart choice
THERE SHOULDN'T BE COUGARS DURING STUNT JUMPS!!
but there do be.
there do
the only speedrun in any game where you punch a cop in the nuts
Oh no hes back
So cool to see that carjacking from the passenger side is actually faster. I've always suspected that it was faster and used it myself for years but I've never seen confirmation of that before.
yeah!
I'm so glad you're back, I love your videos!
thanks!
where did mans go
When I first started getting into gtao, I realized my personal cars would always show up outside of my vision cone, so I've known about and have been exploiting that ever since! Been quite helpful in several moments.
i enjoy your content when will you come back?
He’s a BAAAD person
@@alexandresousa690 bro what he done
@dwcLDN he killed his dog live on stream and then ate the dog without even cooking the dog and then he wore the dog's skin as a coat and started barking all "woof woof" and thinks that he's a dog now
OMG... You finally started uploading... Bro please keep uploading... We need another part of speedrun vs casual gta san Andreas... I have watched the old videos for more than 50 times...
slow and steady
This is the weridest recommend ever.
i dont control it im sorry
this speedrun is surgeon-like precise which is amazing when you see someone getting the WR
this run is about as close to pixel perfect as driving gets in gtav speedruns, compared to on-foot movement or shooting
Disappears, makes 3 videos, disappears again
These stupid boxes your vehicle has to land in to complete each jump explains a lot, I had a feeling it must have worked like that, though some of those boxes are also way bigger than you'd think for how often I failed a jump for seemingly no reason. Some of these jumps felt like such BS. Oddly I got that lighthouse jump on my first try, and that's considered one of the harder, if not hardest ones? I had the hardest times with the jumps at the docks/pier.
28:11 when will this video release?
Never
Ayyyy. Welcome back! I missed your videos so much. I recently rewatched all of Casual VS Speedrunner, so your timing is great!
thanks!
1 jump
Jump 2
Jump3
Jump4
Jump 5
Jump6
i miss u baron im glad you’re back!
you too
the map showing the route was amazing, thanks for the vid :)
not even into speedrunning this game that much but this is defo my favourite category.. a lot of thought clearly has gone into it
it's a very focused category so it was quite easy to iterate on ideas in the past
Just a totally nuts category, and a fantastic presentation!
What a great speedrun, seems like something a lot of people could get involved in
the barrier to entry is kinda low compared to other categories so its a good starter if anyone has interested
After such a long break, it is so nice seing you back.... Just got this video on My recommend. Never clicked so fast😂😂😂
welcome back to the both of us then!
My guy, I've missed your videos on this platform.
Also, at 15:38, you were right; I had no idea that this fence could be destroyed.
i was the same the first time i saw someone do it, i swear i had hit it with a monster truck before to no effect
I don't even have the patience to find all of the stunt jumps to bother trying them normally, figuring out the most efficient route and methods of getting them all is some determination that I don't think I could ever muster
thats why its such a collaborate process! as i touched on at the end of the video, its been like 4 years of this category being a thing to get this optimized, so i think i want to make a second video going over some of the specific contributions people have made, and how it changed the run over time
The thumbnail into playing video was very smooth.
please make a video compiling all of the fastest/risky runs so we can enjoy few hours of just jaw dropping content like jumping over alamo sea in the paleto bank scout mission
so in other words worlds fastest spliced run
There is a community channel on the GTAV Speedrun discord that tracks the fastest a mission has ever been done. they don't always include the alamo style jump though, or every strat. it'd be a HUGE project to combine them all, let alone at a consistent visual quality and with points to actually line up.
Basically, it's not a "no" but, its also a long off, only "maybe" project
You're really good at this. Interesting note after interesting note without having to pause the video too much.
