Robin Williams’ Daughter Upset by Comedian’s Impression

  • A comedian’s uncanny impersonation of Robin Williams might be spot-on, but the legendary performer’s daughter says watching it makes her uncomfortable. Jamie Costa channelled the “Mork and Mindy” star in a video called “Screen Test,” and nailed Williams’ manic comic delivery. Fans have been forwarding the video to Robin’s daughter Zelda, but she’s not happy about it. She pleaded with people online to stop sending it to her, but clarified she had no problem with 31-year-old Costa’s impression.

But he's not reading his lines, he's acting. This wasn't a scene this was a depiction of his life.

  • @123mightywarrior

She wasn't just mad that people were bombarding her with it, but because it was on "one of his saddest days of his life", and it was "weird".
And I can get behind that. Out of all the moments in Robin's life Jamie could've chosen, why did it have to be a sad one and not a happy one? My guess is because since Robin suffered from depression, it would sell. It would get a lot of views. Robin's essentially one of the biggest faces of depression.
Depression is glorified. It's celebrated. It's seen as "normal". It sometimes even makes people happy. It's bound to get lots of attention and coverage, while happy moments barely get *any* attention.

Jamie Costa has been doing Robin Impressions for years. Been a long time fan, Sorry that Zelda has been upset by this. My regards to her. That being said, a Bio Pic is inevitable. And Jamie IS and HAS to be lead as he is the perfect embodiment of the late and great Robin Williams. If Zelda and the rest of the Williams family ever get to approve the film, I know 100 percent that Jamie is the most honorable, loving, kind and humbled actor for the job, he even took his own video down because he knew people wouldn't be able to bother zelda anymore if he did. Plus he wasn't the one that sent Zelda the video it was his fans or even fans of Rob's.

What an absolute shame, the short video was really something special! I know Jamie Costa has wanted to do something like this for a long time because of his love for Robin so for it to have been taken down is really sad. I understand his daughter was getting sick of being sent the video numerous times but I don’t think the video should have been taken down.

I think Jamie Costa showed his true level of class by voluntarily taking it down in an attempt to help stop the bombardment. It's a great impression but, were I Mr. Costa, I wouldn't consider it worth even a moment of pain to the daughter of a man he obviously admired so much.
I think Jamie Costa will go far. He's obviously very talented!
