Amber Heard Has Destroyed The MeToo Movement

  • Amber Heard has destroyed a multi-year movement by undermining what the movement has now become on the grandest possible stage. When the requirement is to believe all women, regardless of claim, the mainstream household popularity of a trial that undermines this narrative (by showcasing the idea "Falsus in Uno Falsus in Omnibus" ) becomes devastating.
While the original MeToo movement has, and maintains value... the modern interpretation of it has been dealt a fatal blow by public testimony, lies, and manipulations.

A couple of years ago my wife walked into a doorframe and gave herself a black eye and a mild concussion. I got her in the car and took her straight to the ED to get treated. Once they saw her and me they immediately assumed I was a wife abuser just from the look of her. They wouldn't let me go in with her to triage, kept asking her if she was safe and how many times I hit her. They offered to have the police called and me taken away so she would be safe to tell her story and make a conviction. She kept telling them they were jumping to the wrong conclusions and they finally relented and let her and me into the ward.
Yet throughout her 2 hour stay they had a security guard tail me, constantly asked her if she was safe every time I walked away from the bed and forbid me from being alone in the ward with her. It was one of the most humiliating and insulting things I've ever had happen to me. To this day every single time I take her into the hospital she gets asked if she is ok and If I am abusing her when they think I'm not in earshot. I even have had a nurse I know look at her medical records and it states victim of spouse abuse.
I have never abused my wife, but yet they jumped straight to that conclusion because of movements like this and my name is forever tarnished. I cannot go into a hospital with her without being discriminated against.

I understand the sentiment tbh, if someone comes out to you about their abuse you should treat them with support and good faith but at the same time that does *not* mean whoever they accused should be instantly lampooned. Even if the accuser isn't lying, they could just have misidentified them, that happens sometimes.
I think it's a fundamentally good sentiment corrupted by terrible messaging and bad faith actors like Heard.

@@Tom88 I agree 100%. I know very well that men are also survivors and it is sad to me that even in 2022 most people in places of authority can not see it. Equality should mean equal. Seeing and understanding male survivors of DV should not be a difficult concept, and more men do need to speak out and feel comfortable doing it. They need to be seen and heard. And who knows, maybe when enough men come out and actually talk about it, we will be able to see similarities in how they react. I also understand that just because a man is abused, does not always mean they are scared. They know they could overpower their batterer but they stay... My belief is because it is because they are in love and feel like they did something wrong. But I don't know.
Sometimes, women abusers often use more dangerous methods. It's when they start using weapons it becomes deadly without them seeing how deadly it really can get. Another reason men NEED to start speaking out about it AND people in places of authority NEED to start actually LISTENING. Not just hearing. Really listen and take it seriously, because it IS serious.

That's how dumb a lot of people are. I see two abusers in this situation. Depp is no better in his behavior toward Heard and everyone in his life, the countless issues people have with him in his career is evidence enough that he ain't fine. What do you mean original purpose was good? It was a extremist pro woman's rights movement that wanted woman to be "heard" and "taken seriously" more at the cost of a fair trail to begin with. It actively sought to create social media witch hunts before any evidence was laid on the table and pushed for a "woman are always right" narrative even when things were either completely disproven. More often than not damage was already done before it was too late due to people losing jobs and friends/families over ACCUSATIONS backed by nothing only for abusers who lied to walk away without repercussions under the shade of the movement itself.
The fact that some people deserved bad shit happening to them doesn't mean that that bad shit is good for the system its trying to represent. There is no justice in metoo, just evil fought with more evil. It wasn't "radicalized to the extreme", just like third wave feminism it was radical and oppressive from the very start.

In my opinion, a phrase like that was always going to cause problems, because it depends on context to send the correct message. Without that, misinterpretation is inevitable and people were bound to reject it and, as a result, reject the movement as a whole. The statement, “believe all women” simply doesn’t provide nearly enough information.
Something like, “take all accusations seriously,” I think would have been better.

I think it's interesting to see the cultural evolution in this statement, because before #Metoo, women were more often invalidated and silenced, so the early idea had a legitimate context to break through that but it definitely couldn't sustain that as the context evolved. I think "Believe all victims" was an alternative that also came up and mitigates some of the problems of "believe all women", by opening it up to queer and/or male victims, but it's not without it's problems either, and as our cultural attitudes towards abuse, accountability and justice evolve, that will also take new meaning

@MonsterGuyX Good idea. Deep truth behind it. Poor phrasing. Not catchy enough to stick.
The problem with so many so-called Progressive ideas is how much they unfairly dismiss one group over another for power. Dismissing men to promote women. Dismissing whites to promote blacks. Dismissing one country to promote another. The fight against slavery, civil rights, suffrage, all came from the root of making sure people were not unfairly dismissed. If we're to be equal, it doesn't mean we have to punish some, or hold others untouchable. We should all be judged, and we should all be helped. And none of us should be dismissed. So to that end, the phrase I heard, and was rather fond of, was: Dismiss None.

No more silence to protect the abuser, speaking up, loud and clear! And that's what Johnny did. His victory was a victory for us all. Gender has nothing to do with it. MeToo is just one layer of the man-bashing and victimhood narrative. Sex and gender didn't have a role. Sexism against men had everything to do with it. Now, let's also roll back sexist paternity, divorce, property, and public benefits narratives.

Here's the thing. Anyone who has genuinely experienced assault and harassment knew that the Me Too movement died a long long time ago. What true survivors want is justice and equality. Depp was lied about, abused and degraded. He lost out on a lot of things in his life and he deserves to have justice served. Heard did this to herself by publicly attacking her victim and soaking in the attention it gave her.
The most tragic thing about this case and the movement is that millions of people go through what Depp went through every single day but they cannot afford to speak up or fight back. And anyone who gate kept Me Too as women only are complete idiots. Abuse can happen to everyone and just taking the woman's side for everything will lead us down a deep dark hole.

The truth that many don't seems to notice is that those movements, no matter how they start, have a pretty good chance of turning into cults. It's not only about MeToo, feminism or incels, is basically any group that starts out trying to spread a message. Once enough power is gathered, no matter what the initial purpose was it start having all the characteristics of a cult, about defending personal beliefs and people in power, not about facts and truth.

It's not about gatekeeping metoo, it's that the movement on paper is already asinine to begin with. Anyone with a single brain cell could see that from the start. The idea that the uninformed masses could tear down a person based purely on word of mouth is completely dumb. What the Depp case showed is that MeToo is (obviously) extremely easy to misuse. It's not that MeToo should also be applied to men, the correct takeaway is that MeToo should be ditched altogether. If you extend "believe all women" to "believe all men" too, then do you just believe everyone then? No, you should only believe evidence. MeToo disregards due process, it legitimizes the brainless pitchfork-wielding mob. It's a crutch for angry stupid people and brainless activist types. And the brainless celebrity types help legitimize the movement.

One, how stupid they must think the public. Two, shame on those organizations and authors who made even more biased and some straight false reports. It was truly sickening. "Cancelling" is the same as condemning someone as guilty without them being able to defend themselves. That is not what our country was built upon. As a DV/SA survivor, to have her claim to be a victim turns my stomach inside out. It's because of women like her, that true survivors have to go through more pain just to prove they are telling the truth. She does NOT represent the thousands of DV/SA survivors.

And felt their good will was taken advantage of by her lying about it. Then turn around and find out at the very least she was the primary abuser. And the article was another way for her to hurt him one last time while making everyone that believed her complicit in the abuse of Depp. And no one likes their good will taken advantage of and it makes it just that much harder for real abuse victims since everyone is going to be a little less trusting of a person coming forward.

the two groups that STARTED the snowball effect hta lead to right s of every other group over time.. was BOTH ATHIESTS AND FEMINIST.. they use to be TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN..
division happened casue most feminist where christian believes while athiests thanks to anti thiests .. things got sour.. so they kind became two seperat coins..
butt it was feminist taht where the FIRST group to help gays.. it was also BLACK FEMINIST THAT PLAYED A MASSIVE ROLE IN BLACK RIGHTS...
and athiests wehre there all the way too.. just IGNORED cause they are indeed still the most hated group in america and on earth.. they are completely removed from most conversation in terms of who helped who during rights movements..
majority of history men simply DID NOT TAKE WOMEN SERIOUS... so u had MOST MEN.. sorry butt thats just true. if it wasnt then women wouldnt have had to fight tooth and nail to gain rights in the first place.. butt i digress.. this MALE system didnt take women serious.. so as u'd expect once women gained rights.. as with all groups there are people with in it that simple try to reverse and pay back in kinds.. so first it was "women cant be taken serious" FOR ALL OF WRITTEN HISTORY.. 1000's of years bro.. then rights came in the last 60ish average years now u got the REVERSE.. "believe all women" which majority of feminists and metoo dont actually say or believe.. its a small very vocal minority
its no different then BLM .. only a FEW BLACKS say "blacks cant be racist"
the result is YOU THE PUBLIC belive in horse shit.. ya'll think teh minority just cause its makes up ALL THE NEWS/HEADLINES is representive of the whole groups..
im an athiest and i fking think religious is TRASH.. butt i do not for a second believe being a christian makes u stupid and dangerous just cause a FEW extremist relitards exist and peddled horseshit harmful stuff..
men came up with "benevolent sexism" actually fking look that up..
some women simple know how to game that and take advantage of it.. which is just reversing the sexims.. which you the public eat up as if its the whole group.. xD
the "believe all women" logic isnt logic and its stupid.. its just as stupid and public opinion from too many men saying women cant be trusted again that also another REVERSE sexist narrative..
HUMANS ARE RELITARDS.. most of em.. fking dumb ass monkey in shoes... fking apes... believe what they want cause they want to believe..
vast majority of people dont even actually check and read any actual science studies nor univeristy studies.. the best they do is look at numbers and be like "see this is proof" yet had they actually read they would have been disprove by the very same study they ignore to actually read..
      this applies to nearly everything...
preconcieve bais and anecdotal evidence is humanties favor train of thought. xD
its obvious how it became a thing.. and once again.. u have to include RELIGION into it.. thats the cause of most bs..
sexist ass men = sexist ass women AND sexist ass women = sexist ass men
butt anyone who's familiar with reality knows MEN not women created nearly all the systems... as women had NO RIGHTS in aLL OF HUMAN WRITTEN HISTORY TILL mid/late modern times and some of those women with rights as expected would be sexist.. which then itself creates sexist men or gives already sexist men justification of why women are "bad" as whole WHICH ITSELF AGAIN justififies those sexist as women .. repeat. xD
humans am i right...we're fking DUMB.. only dumb animal ever to exist cause we have the BRAIN TO KNOW BETTER.. and what do we do... we create "religion" and reliiious like ideologies.. aka BULLSHIT.. and we LOVE TO BELIEVE BULLSHIT cause we think we're too smart to believe in bullshit.. xD
      =====
      SO .. did i answer u question?
cause i dont think anyone else really actually give an answer let alone consider just how deep things might go to find out WHY things are like they are now..

    • @eev14
      @eev14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Well.. Women are also human beings. I do agree that it helps male victims and I'm glad for that, very much so as I have male friends that are victims of all kinds of abuse and violence and male victims deserve to come out about their experiences and be believed and supported.
But it hasn't done anything good for women (and arguably it hasn't done anything for any victims without a support system).
To be completely frank with you; I was raped a couple years back, I have gotten no professional help (was on a waiting list for PTSD treatment for 1.5 years before I gave up), I lost an entire friendgroup because they didn't want to deal with a traumatized person, I had to install extra locks on my door just this month because a random guy started stalking me with bad intentions (confirmed by my neighbor), I've had years of fear to face alone, and ultimately I've had no one at all that cared to give me any real support but I have had many people start discussions with me on false accusations (which does not in any way apply to my situation).
Women are also still being ignored, it's not a man/woman thing, it's a victim thing, victims are being ignored.
Johnny got support and he even got the law on his side and his abuse was acknowledged, but most regular people never get any real justice and support is a big fat maybe.
Admitting you're a victim is met with more scrutiny and skepticism from others than what a perpetrator might get.
My rapist is not in jail, he hasn't lost anything, the police has pictures of my bruises, they have my entire statement, they told me I had a really strong case.. And they still told me that it might not be worth going after purely because they know it's an emotionally destructive process for a victim, they basically scared me off of wanting to pursue a conviction.

Both "Me Too" & "Him too" cross a line when they go beyond supporting victims" right to have their voices heard & get their day in court yet ignore the "innocent until proven guilty" human right. I'm a DA & SV survivor who watched the entire trial, and feel offended by assertions that the internet &/or JD's fame swayed me. Amber does NOT represent me, and the only ill-will I feel about her is based on her continued insistence that she does! Hear all her audio recordings

This is great. "Believe women", let alone "Believe all women", was always a stupid even outrageous statement. "Listen to allegations, investigate and believe the evidence" is much more sensible, surely.

Well, yeah. But "believe women" applies to the fact that we should assume truth telling when the claims of abuse are made, and then if it's lies, it will come out in court.
I'm not sure why everyone here thinks that this kills the me too movement.. everything functioned exactly as it should have

@@RBEmpathy I don't think the movement is dead either. But much like the original author of the movement, I too believe the #meto has also strayed from the original path.
This also applies to the "Believe all women" catchphrase. I'm glad you did not take the phrase literally but alot of people did...and that's part of the problem.

@@analt2379 no. It means you don't assume the woman is lying. Such assumptions can bias your investigation and to overlook key details that would substantiate the statement.
The man isn't presumed guilty, you still have to go to trial.

You know, is anybody here celebrating Johnny Depp’s win? I just wanted to ask that because of all the unfortunate events that occurred recently and I feel that Johnnys Depp’s victory in this case is a nice change of pace.

I am. It's nice to see Johnny get some justice. Hearing about what Amber was doing and how everyone was treating Johnny pissed me off something fierce, so I'm glad Johnny gets to turn around and give undeniable proof that those fucks, Disney included, were in the wrong for how they treated him

A few small points: In civil court, you are found liable, not guilty. Also, "with malice" is a legal term meaning she knew the statements to be false but chose to publish them regardless.

I am not from the US and not very knowledgeable about the law. During the trial, it became very apparent that she lied under oath. My question is: Will she get charged separately for committing purgery, or was that the job of the judge of the last trial? If she gets away with lying under oath lie that, what message does that send?

Adam Waldman, JD's attorney who made the statements that Amber sued Johnny over in her counterclaim, has been dropping hints in the comments of his Instagram posts about Amber being charged with perjury in the UK and in Australia. I think JD can even file criminal charges against her for committing glassing in Australia if he wanted to, but I doubt he wants to actually put her in jail.

Don't you mean misandric and misanthropic? It's misanthropic as well because they don't defend both of the sexes from DV and SA when the victim happens to be conservative or when the perpetrator happens to be non-white.
