  • Video tutorial on how to replace the inner rear taillight on a 2011 getta. This procedure can also be used to replace the reverse bulb as well. The reverse bulb is the bigger bulb next to the tail light.

    THANK YOU. I spent hours trying to put it back on but wasn't successful until I watched you saying make sure the black cover is on the outside. Thank you again!

    Here's a tip that might help someone: Instead of battling with the wire-harness connector - which alot of people have complained about, you might find it easier (I certainly did) to just leave the cable connected and pinch the much bigger tabs that separate the bulb plate from the external housing. Then you just set the tail light housing aside and replace the bulb on the mounting plate with the wire-harness still attached. Easy-peasy. The whole job took me

    Thanks for the vid! FYI, the bulb is a Sylvania 5007. Did anyone have trouble putting the housing back in flush? Mine had never been pulled and did not want to go back in!!! Lol

    Any advice for installing an after market rear view camera on a 2011 Jetta. Mainly what wires are the reverse?

    Hey man, great tutorial! The Jetta is equipped with the world's worst backup lights. Very frustrating. After watching you, I went out and changed out the crappy incandescent bulbs with some bright LED bulbs - it was a snap! I only cut myself once...on my foot...you don't wanna know. Anyway, thanks for the video :) By the way, the fasteners that hold the tail light assembly into the trunk are 10mm nuts. Mine were so tight that I had to use a socket to get them loose. Must've been assembled on a Monday by some overly-eager Mexicans.

    How do you take the assembly out of the outer part that isn’t part of the trunk hatch?? Any videos for that?

    So when you pull the circuit board off there is a third light socket near the top of the board. There isn't a bulb in it but just an empty socket. Any idea as for what that is for? Really helpful video. Thanks.

      exists for a european rear fog - you need to modify for north american vw.

      Gil Segovia I just changed my rear lights and saw that extra socket. I searched everywhere on the forums and could find what it was for. Thanks!

      @@gilsegovia4041 can you Vagcom the rear fogs in? My headlight switch has one pull for the front fogs and the second pull for the rear fogs (which do nothing because I have an NA model)

    Hi Gearmo, what do i do if both of my tailights aren't working?
    it's a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta ( idoubt they both burned out but i'll check). it works perfectly when signaling i'm going right or left. But at night, i don't see the lights on.
    Could it be a fuse? and if so, where (which fuse box) and which fuse (location inside the fuse box)?

    • @GEARMOAUTO
      @GEARMOAUTO  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +El Boliviano (^-^) I would check to see if the bulbs are burned out first. You would be surprised that that actually happens, usually a bowl will burn out and you may not notice for a while and then the other one burns out and and both of them are out check those first. Then I couldn't find the exact spot where the fuse would be but you can check the driver panel for a fuse panel and usually that cover will have a listing that says where the brake light fuse would be. They're also maybe a fuse panel underneath the driver kick panel as well near the pedals, and finally there is a fuse block near the battery I believe it has a red cover. I don't know if this has the brake light fuse on it though. I worked on this car a while back so I don't recall much but I would recommend checking the bulbs first. Let me know if you have anymore questions after you check the bulbs and I can see if I could get more information for you. Thanks for the comment!

    Can anyone tell me why there are three spots for a lightbulb and there are only 2? My car has the same thing and I’m
