Hi, William, I often watch your videos while driving my truck. I'd like to know why when you opened everything sometimes you don't change the spy seals and the motor steering wheel and cardan spit joints unless you do it without it going on the video. That's just a good continuation question in the clutch changes a French admirer of your channel
thanks a lot for the word of caution. Been at it for six years now. And It still takes me more time making the car is safe than the actual repair itself.
Nice Job...I have the same car (citroen c4 picasso 2008 automatic) and many many times when I'm waiting on stop signal or another place for a long time i try to star and the car doesn't move and only can fix when disconnect the battery...nobody here in Chile know about this problem, some mechanics tell me that could be the clutch, you know about this problem, can you help me please.....
I'm not an expert and have only changed clutches/gearboxes on Triumph Dolomites and Rover P4s. It was always drilled into me not to remove all the bell housing bolts and let the gearbox hang on it's shaft. Is it now ok on modern FWD cars to remove the bell housing bolts leaving the gearbox unsupported - before removing it? Great work by the way.
Peter Davies I take it you’re a full time mechanic. .... always great to get a review from another professional’s perspective.... the old focus ST not one of my favourite... how it did it go.. I’m sure you obviously smashed the repair
@@WMCS yeah full time mate and yeah wasn't too bad bit of a pain took about 6 hours in total to do snd big heavy gearbox got a 2014 renault scenic 1 to do tommorow I'm thr only one where I work who likes doing thr clutches mate
Shane Brookes with good quality parts and oil it should take no more than 2.5 hours. If I coincide it with one of my repairs in your area. Will charge you about £200 for parts and travel time only.
Great job but looks very fiddly ..😮 By the way what is called the assembly that you taken off on 15.55 minutes. If you know whats it called would be great. Thanks
lawrence walker thanks for the review... it was a little involved for a petrol car. But nonetheless a nice repair all round. These thrust bearing and guide tubes are always first to go on these vehicles, way before the clutch finishes.
Cool video. My clutch went on my 2008 1.8 petrol C4 Grand Picasso last Friday the day before we were going to France. Nice to see what the garage has to do to get it replaced. I've been told it's a 12hr job by one garage is that right??
@@WMCS Thank you. It's going in on Monday. Your videos are a good insight of what is actually involved. Cheers (I live in Jersey otherwise you would be my first call 😊)
Kevin, I wondered if you could possibly help me? I am currently changing the clutch on the exact same car as in the video, but when I put the gearbox back on the clutch pump lever is stuck. When the gearbox is off the lever moves freely. Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
@@WMCS I think I have been supplied with the incorrect thrust bearing. The new one is quite a bit bigger than the broken one that I removed. I’ve contacted the shop I bought it from.
Well done! I was thinking "one day without rain" but at the end it come to visit you. That guide tube made you use heavy artillery! No need to lubricate outside it, where the bearing seats? Another glove ripped. Below them, are you using another gloves just to have warm fingers? Don't you loose sensitivity on the bolts you touched? What is the power of the torch/lamp you use? The red one seems to be new. Thanks a lot for another instructive video!
Fantastic observation....a little bit of rain this time. Not the full whack😁☔️... Yes the grinder had to come out. Very cautiously... very simple grease on the shaft ... a very thorough clean. Make sure not a single ball bearing is left in. As it will fail the clutch instantly. The red torch is a spare with only a 3 hour life. That’s why the battery pack was there keeping it on charge. My other lamp has a 10hour charge use. But I forgot it home that day. ... Really enjoy your thorough input on the forum.

Splatman HooHa those release bearings always seems to last half the life of the clutch system... I aways keep spare guide tubes for these gearboxes ... this particular one was quite bad .....

Barry sleafer you’ve got a great eye for detail. I was quite pleased when I noticed the washer had already been trimmed back. I would have probably taken the same route if it was an original one. I once tried unbolting the centre bolt and washer but never managed to get through till the end. ... sorry to be long but if I got this right .. you have the socket to remove that bolt and the washer comes out with it also ..?
Kevin-Albert Williams no problem. Thanks for the response though. One other question, did you have to bleed or adjust the clutch after? I finished mine up but now has an issue finding 1st sometimes. Any info would be greatly appreciated

PSA group cars are always entertaining. The day started well and it ended up raining. How long does it usually take you to change a clutch? thanks as always for sharing.
This gearbox is going to die because of the visible slack on the primary axle, wait 3000 kilometers and you will see. probably you're going to hear the sound of a coffee grinder. the gearbox needs to be complete separated to replace and adjust bearing with thickness plates
working inside the gearbox was not at all child's play. I wonder what really happened in this box so that all these parts of the clutch bearing get stuck in this way
Abis Ismael it was very precise cutting and steady hands was required. The thrust bearing on these cars seems to always fail prematurely and cause a bit of a mess. Must be to do with quality of the metal.

When you say clutch pump lever. Do you mean the clutch pedal. And by being stuck do you mean it’s all the way to the floor
