Little tip. Just pull radiator hose back and bungee cord it out of your way. No need to pull it and make a mess. You can still get to everything ok. I just did mine and no problem. Great video
You dont need to take battery out of way. Just take air cleaner top off with the hose and you can get to everything. Got mine off in as little as five mins
Bro I was trippin out thinking I did all this work for nothing until I watched the end where you said to reset turning the key on and off, I had already come inside my house and given up haha!! Thank you so much for posting this vid, I had to borrow money from family and for me being a single dad is not easy for me to repay in one paycheck!!! Thank you so much!!!
Hey everyone! brother6ix, I wish you could of seen my face when I came across this video! I have watched two hours on and off of different ones, and I must say this one right is the BEST!! For me, it was like being outside with my brother, and hearing "just put some elbow grease and get it done!" lol, Thanks again, may God continue to bless you. I'll update you all when I finish getting my throttle body off and everything back together for my Jeep Patriot.
I replaced the throttle again in 2020. So now in Nov 2022, the flashing bolt light came on again. I don't remember what code for then, but now the code is p2173. The most of what i been seeing is the intake manifold gasket need replacing. So imma check that first.
Thank you for this video!! Male family members just replaced a bunch of stuff on my 2008 Caliber yesterday. Today the ETC light came on and car died. Battery light came on yesterday too, but that got replaced last night. I’m thankful your video showed exactly what to do. I can do this on myself! Also found the part on Amazon for 1/10th of the cost at parts store! Single Mom prayers answered!
Thanks, dude. Voltage light and a sputter when you accelerate in our 2007 Caliber turned out to be exactly what you said, throttle body. I did the job with your video on my laptop, on the work bench. Did it just like you did with no problem at all. Thanks!
This was super helpful. I'm trying to do this on my own like you said. Get the satisfaction that you yourself fixed it. Thank you for making this video.
Great video man, i seriously was gonna take it to the shop but your explanation of what to do is detailed and straightforward! keep the videos commin man! thanks again!
Thanks for the video. My car would not go over 10 mph. I had cylinder 1 & 4 not firing. After replacing the spark plugs and coils it did not fix the problem. Seeing your post and thinking that yes the throttle body does send important information to the ECU which controls the firing of the coils and injectors, I replaced the throttle body and it fixed my problem. Thanks again.
Hey! Thanks for making this video. I’m having the same problem with my 2010 Dodge Caliber :( but this video helps a lot to know that the throttle body is the most likely issue. I appreciate your detailed and step by step video!
Bro you did an awesome job! I have a dodge caliber and I know how stressful it can be trying to reach in those really tight spaces under the hood. I try working on mine myself cause I know what you mean when you feel great fixing a problem yourself. I hope this is what I need to do to fix my problem so thanks a lot for the video. You seem like a really cool hard working dad
Thank you, thank you sooooo much for this video.!!!!!!! I would never had a chance to replace mine without it. I found the throttle body online at a place called AM Auto Parts. Got it for $59.00. I was very scared as it was $279.00 at Advance Auto Parts. I did wait 5 days for it but installed it in 2.5 hrs. No reset to computer necessary. Saved tons of money in a big way thanks to your video.
I appreciate you Charlie...this video made me feel better about trying this myself...im watching it now with my new throttle body sitting here beside me before i go try and put it on...I look forward to that satisfaction of fixing it myself!
Used your video and fixed mine!!!! Also the tip on reset.I also am not a mechanic and have never done any engine work.Yeah, it does feel good!! Thanks so much!
I wanna say thank you as a woman I must say it's a MUST I know about my vehicles and or how to fix it and how it should be done correctly I wanna say I am a do it myself 😅
DO you mind if I ask where is the transmission? I need to replace the cap, but I can't find the transmission. At 4:11 I see your hand beside something that I thought it could be the transmission cap but my caliber 2010 doesn't have that.
At first I thought that was a cvt transmission, so I was surprised to see red coolant pour out of the radiator hose. But it's an sxt with a 5 speed manual. So what type of transmission fluid does that one take?
Thank you my best friend and brother, this video helped me out tremendously, I just wanted to let you know that I am not at all mechanic and this helped me out tremendously 👍👌✊👊💪😇
I've got a caliber srt and I'm currently having the same issue it was jerking so bad and the lil lightning ⚡ symbol is on but I'ma take it to a pro to do it I would love to do it but I don't have a garage and my yard is gravel
You don't need a garage to change the throttle body. All you need is the proper tools which are not that many.... Good luck. I hope you get this problem resolved quickly. But I can assure you you could do it yourself and save money on labor
Thanks bro. Any tips about it not starting sometimes but there is a clicking sound but nothing happens but then I wait and like magic sometimes it works after trying again it’s annoying one of these days it won’t start and I’ll be stuck.
Your throttlebody looks way cleaner than the one I pulled off. Makes me wonder if i also have bad gas. Caliber stutters when I accelerate, the battery. Light only flashed on once and a while, no longer flashing on when I’m driving but still with the same issues. I’m about to replace the throttle body, hoping that that’s it.
Thank you im 29 no experience it would've cost 900 something dollars and I overnighted a piece for $130 and it took 1 1/2 hrs to change it but I have a 2011 and it took 20 minutes to get the clamp that's on the hose connected to the throttle body off. Ty so much saved $750 single dad to may I add bc I saw a young lady add she was a single mother lol.
hmm. I have a 2010 caliber and the tbs light is on. Why is that light not on for your car? Only the check engine light? I don't get it. I went to get diagnosed st AutoZone and they told me it's the crank shaft sensor. Yetmy tbs light is on? So confused

Andrea Michelle good luck. This really is an easy project as shown in the video just take your time.. but if your feelings unsure then go to a mechanic that you trust but make them aware that you do have knowledge of what's going on with your car... So they won't overcharge for unnecessary things.
Hi guys... Greetings from the Netherlands. Last week we bought a Chrysler Sebring with the similar 2.0 engine. By the way it's a 5 speed manual. That car have almost the same issue. It jerks while acceleration only thing we don't have any codes and no warning lights are on... What you guys think could it be throttle body?
Hey Charlie you just got a sub from me , sweet video. I have a crazy question is there anyway you can post a step by step re learn procedure, for after install?
All u have to do is turn the ignition to on position only not run then wait until all dash board light settle then hold the gas pedal way down for 20 second, then release slowly within 10 second , then turn off ignition for 3hours .....then drive around slowly for a weak for eco or drive harsh and fast for sport mode....eco mode will make the engine silent on acceleration and sport mode will make the muffler roar on every acceleration.
Wait 3 hours before driving it after replacing the throttle body??? I'm about to go takle this myself and I live in the country bunkin area lol (I'm a city girl) and these folks think I'm crazy for doing it myself because I'm a female!?? 🙄🤣🤣😒🤣🤣🤣🤣 I got this 💪💪😉😂
@@brandygoyer5940 Ok So mine is a 2011 caliber, the way I relearned the throttle, after install and everything is put back together, get in the car and shut the door it will not work unless you shut the door on driver's side, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position 3 times and do it kind of fast, but do not start the engine so just , on,off,on,off and on the third time of turning it on just leave it and look at the dash where your odometer is and you will see three dashes and then wait a few seconds and it will eventually say Done! , Now turn it off and start the vehicle and voila!
@@brandygoyer5940 you can actually try this procedure before replacing it with the new one until you get it figured out , on,off,on,off, then leave on the third time you turn it on and watch dashboard where odometer is.
Hi Charlie, thx for this video. I have the same issue and would like to know if you know some online shops where I could buy some 2011 dodge caliber pieces?
I just got the lighting bolt on my dashboard. the car started shaking and then shut down by it self. Anyone has an idea if it could be the throttle or any other suggestions? please help.
So since you put on a new throttle body and it being a electronic throttle body you didn't go get it calibrated with a computer? I was told it would needed to be plugged in to do it?
Jesus Alfaro it cost me around $240 from O'Reilly's Auto Parts.. and it took me about 20 minutes to take off the old throttle body and install the new one.
from the video it seems as though it will be easier getting it from the bottom butt because of visibility and your hand placement I think it would be a lot harder considering the position of some of the bolts that's holding the Throttle Down they're slightly angled upward
Little tip. Just pull radiator hose back and bungee cord it out of your way. No need to pull it and make a mess. You can still get to everything ok. I just did mine and no problem. Great video

Jesus Alfaro it cost me around $240 from O'Reilly's Auto Parts.. and it took me about 20 minutes to take off the old throttle body and install the new one.
I had to do this on my 2007. Pain in the ass.
Thanks for doing this video brotha!
Avys Burroughs you're welcome bro.. Thanks for watching 🤛🏽
did you get the new throttle body from a online retailer or a autozone?
The Dirty Sanchez I got it from O'Reilly's
brother6ix thanks for the response hoping it goes as easy as you made it look
This is a very easy project you don't have anything to worry about.
best video ever, thank you so much!!!
FirstNameGoesHere you're welcome... Thanks for watching I appreciate that
brother6ix you're welcome
Don't you have to put the codes back in?
LaindiaC absolutely not.. But good question 🖐🏽
Thank you for your response, I will try this because the same thing happened to mine once it was fixed.
And did the steps you took at the end fix it for good?
You couldn't get it from the bottom?
from the video it seems as though it will be easier getting it from the bottom butt because of visibility and your hand placement I think it would be a lot harder considering the position of some of the bolts that's holding the Throttle Down they're slightly angled upward
Good Vid helped me out
Thank you.
