Man oh man.. there’s a reason why it takes 3-4years to qualify as a light vehicle technician. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for learning to do things but safety related items should be against the law to be tampered with or played with by unsupervised and unqualified people. At the start of the video you gave a statement to viewers that they should not attempt this as it is ‘their families lives’ they’re putting on the line. Which is partly true but if they want to put them at risk by attempting to do something they do not know anything about they can go ahead, what you failed to note was that they will not be the only vehicle on the road so it’s innocent passerbys now with their life at risk by no choice of their own. And because people have the freedom and access to so easily unknowingly make their vehicle a death trap on the roads that my parents and family use putting their life in the hands of some backyarder who thinks he knows what he is doing will keep me fighting for vehicle repairs to be regulated and only carried out by professionals who did their 4 year grind so they could proficiently and safely service and repair vehicles. And just the fact that you used nothing but a bottle jack to support the weight of the vehicle while you pulled down the rear brake assembly with your legs directly beneath the rear axle and drum assembly backing plate just shows that you really shouldn’t be carrying out repairs on a vehicle, especially to then post a video publicly with so many safety issues for others to see and assume is perfectly fine to do. I understand that you at least put the wheel under the chassis in a futile effort to ensure your safety but believe me from first hand experience its not a reliable safety measure. I know this has been a pretty negative comment thus far but I’ve been in the trade and I’ve seen what can be the aftermath of work not being done correctly and/or safely and without supervision from someone certified I feel strongly that fines etc need to be given. The same as only a qualified sparky is able to tamper and work on your houses electrics otherwise heavy fines are enforced to the person without being licensed for touching it. Same as if joe blog wired up a new wall socket in his house because he watched how to do it on TH-cam and when he switches it on there’s a short and his house burns down, not only will he be fined for doing the wiring but his insurance will void the insurance due to the cause being his fault. Look I fully support the work you’re doing and motivation you have to build your channel showing your thoughts about things and helping others with your reviews or tips etc. By all means more power to you and I really hope the channel becomes what you want it to be. But at least do things safely and use jack stands when lifting a vehicle or whatever keeps you safe when out hunting, not only for yourself but for others
Maybe even we can work something out and I can come over your way to spin some spanners with you and show you a few tricks and tips on your kun26 as it’s one of my more preferred/predominant vehicles I enjoyed countless hours on and you can give me a bit of target practice as it’s been a few years since I was behind a rifle haha

My father drives buses however has more knowledge then any mechanical engineer. The on-site licensed bus mechanic is always asking my dads advice as he does not have the experience. thanks for taking the time to do this video mate . I imagine it will help a lot of people out like myself where there is no option of getting a mechanic because of where they live
Brilliant video thanks for taking the time. I read that pinned comment from J... sad... People have repaired their own cars since cars were invented. I trust myself more than some of these 3-4 year "trained" mechanics who I've seen do absolutely shocking work and charge big for it too.
Yeah it's funny, I paid for a mechanic for the first time in 10 years a month ago. First time my Hilux ended up on a tow truck too... Because they forgot to tighten some hoses they didn't need to remove...
Thanks heaps. I should have watched it before I did the job! Got half way through and couldn't work out the spring directions and the right holes, but thanks to your video i got it sorted.
I can see where J is coming from below. I was actually going to compliment you on your dedication doing the job out there in the rain. I am a qualified mechanic and am busy working on my bosses ute. I’m here because I’m having issues releasing the tab when trying to adjust the brake shoes and back them off. Thanks for the video. One thing I will say as I was busy typing and then started watching, please never use side cutters around cables to pry back a spring. Use pliers or needle nose so there isn’t a chance to severe the cable or spring.
I actually never intended to make the video, I was in a rush. I did the first side and could not remember how it came apart, so I filmed the second side, because I couldn't find it on TH-cam. Hence a few dodgy things.
This video is very informative , thanks a lot, i was able to replace the old original brakeshoe of my 11 yr old toyota fortuner @ km 183k, it saves me outside service fees and most importantly i learned to fix n maintain my own brakes, thanks again

Good job but just a few things on the brake adjustment before you put the brake hub / rotor on adjust the brake shoes out so it just take you to put the hub on and adjust the last bit with the wheel on and the truck still on the jack keep turning the wheel until it just starts to lock job dun

Apparently there is another adjustment on the lever in the car, I think you can get roo it from under the vehicle. I haven't needed to do mine. Have you adjusted them again since driving?

You don't need to bleed the brakes unless you change the slave cylinder or your changing the brake fluid. To change the pads and drum there is no need to bleed.
Pretty much, but make sure you have the park brake handle pulled first. Otherwise you have brakes on 24/7. Pull it about 1/2 to 2/3 on. After you have adjusted it, go back to the park brake and give it a couple of pulls, if it feels to high tighten it again.
How about the other side of the wheel how do u adjust it? Since the other side is already set and adjusted on the park brake the way u like it to be pulled
