This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "lower back pain ibs symptoms" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my co-worker got excellent results with it
"Does having IBS mean you might suddenly crap yourself?" Well actually, if you also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder on top of IBS like me, yes. Yes, it kind of does lol. Its a very unfortunate combination of things to have since IBS triggers my anxiety, and anxiety triggers my IBS. And with GAD literally EVERYTHING makes you anxious for absolutely no reason. Its a viscous cycle that makes it very hard to live a normal life, have a job, socialize, go to school, etc.
Heya, crikey that sounds awful. I definitely know how stress really messes with how my stomach feels, so I can only imagine the combination of GAD & IBS. I hope you are doing ok, really sorry to hear how horrible it must be :( xx
My pet peeve is the "well I know someone with IBS and they do this and it helps/cured them you should do the same" yes because what works for one works for all 🙄
I hate this as well. I know they mean well but I'm sorry, your uncle's friend's brother's wife's ibs isn't most likely to be the exact same as mine so thanks but no thanks, Tim. I'm not interested. The second worse thing in this particular area for me especially is my mom "educating herself" by googling "how to cure IBS" 🙄 like it's a common cold cured by warm blankets, some head cold pills, and a cuppa 🙄🙄 she even found a video she swore up and down for, of some "doctor" explaining what ibs was and how to cure it though "healthy food, excercise, and meditation" What? No! That isn't a cure! Sure, it'll maybe help soothe flare ups, or improve overall health or something along those lines but as a cure specifically for ibs? Nah. That's like telling a patient with terminal cancer "y'know if you did more yoga, you wouldn't have cancer anymore."
I'm gluten intolerant & lactose intolerant and it sucks when people are like "that must suck, what can you eat?" A lot of companies are coming out with gluten free and lactose free things so it's only getting easier for me to find "normal" foods that I can eat without suffering from pain and feeling horrible all day. Another thing that I hear is "Eating a little bit won't hurt you, you'll be okay." That's a super frustrating comment.
completely agree, eating a little of something definitely wont help a situation. I think it is hard for people to understand who don't have the same problems sadly :(
That stinks, but next time tell them that you should be grateful that it’s just lactose and gluten you can’t eat and not an array of foods like high fodmap.
I also hate when people who know nothing about IBS try to tell me that they know how to fix it... I get that they want to be helpful, but I wish they could understand that there isn't a cure, and just because something helps someone doesn't mean it will help everyone with IBS.
Yes! For the very small number of people I've told, it's an endless barrage of "o you should eat x, have some sauerkraut, etc". I know they are trying to be helpful but it's so annoying.
as an older person who has lived with IBS her whole life. the younger generation seems to find it amuzing that I suffer from pain and other symptoms. it still embarrasses me after 59 years. and I am so glad you posted this.
Yes everybody tells me that if I stop thinking about it then it will go away but the reason why I’m thinking about it in the first place is because my stomach is killing me!
I have IBS and I eat everything I want because it's just stronger than me lmao.I do eat pretty healthy though. My IBS is IBS- C so it actually helps to eat some spicy foods at times, just to show that everyone's IBS is different and what works for me isn't gonna work for another sufferer. The fact that I'm bloated all the time is what bothers me most. If I don't go to the bathroom for only 1 day I will look 3 months pregnant and the pain is just terrible. I feel my intestines cramping and all I can do is curl up in a ball. Also when people don't understand the pain and when I don't want to go out or just want to stay at home all day and they judge me. It's not the end of the world but it's a pain in the ass... literally.
Hi Sarah, yeah totally get you here. My IBS sounds very similar to yours, I think I am pretty much permanently bloated, I can't remember the last time I wasn't! It is really tough and a definitely pain in the ass!!! Hope you are coping ok with everything though x
I too suffer from IBS-C..it started as a result of one of the medicine that I had.. I too feel like same.. always bloated..I think it is sometimes feel like I had some kind of weight in my stomach like a stone..if I don't go to bathroom one day..I am now trying to change my diet.. actually banana , orange had helped me a lot..also drinking hot water with lemon in morning also helps me ..
Any body have mild IBS? It seems like I can eat one crappy meal a day for 2 days. Once i hit the third day my symptoms come and linger for a few days. Anyone relate?
Yes! I eat crap food for like 3 days and I’m fine but then I start paying for it with raging diarreah for the next couple days followed by constipation and then pain and pressure on the belly.
Becky Excell Yes your right but right now,im healing my ibs and it is effective.i only eat lowfodmap right now for 3 months but im still on the 18th day of my healing process and it reduces my fatigue, depression, bloating and emotional trouble and im confident that ibs is curable.
I've had IBS for a long time...most of my life really. My mom still refuses to modify what she cooks for holidays. She doesn't think it's real. I've started taking my own food to Christmas and Easter dinner.
So glad you shared bowels and all because being open about the symptoms normalises the illness for most people and then people feel less alone and we need to learn from each other because doctors cannot always tell us the full facts of any illness. Shared experiences are the key. Thank you 😊
"I think I got a bit of that sometimes" it kills me inside almost as much as fast food. I loved that you pointed out its mainly women who talk about ibs when it seems in life men are more willing to talk about things like this. Either way. This was a great video. Thank you for making it!
I've had several instances when I've almost had an accident. It's the scariest feeling ever!! For the most part I can KINDA control it now after years of having IBS D but sometimes you just never know what's going to happen. It's one of the reasons I just choose to stay home and not even stress about it
I'm so glad I found your channel, and especially glad I found your playlist of videos about IBS. I've been living with IBS for almost 4 years now, but didn't want to accept my diagnosis. This year I've decided to take more initiative in taking better care of myself, so thank you for sharing your experiences about living with IBS.
Ibs c is the worst it's like bing a grizzle bear in hibernation but all the time I feel that there is another reason why it's this bad such overgrowth in small intestient of bacteria yeast fungus and yup parisites .
I have really bad ibs, so when I was put on the elimination diet I found that I couldn't eat from a lot of major groups so it's hard to find new foods that are still nutritious.
I feel your pain! I'm "healthy" aka meat on my bones. People don't understand how I can go to the bathroom all the time and not lose weight. It's so frustrating.
One time i ate some sushi w fried crispy onions n i didn't know those have gluten in them. Glad i was at work bc i spent most my afternoon away from my desk 😳😳 sometimes it really just gets you
thank you for having this channel, I was being diagnosed about a month ago with IBS C and feel like the whole world just turn 360. I have anxiety at the same time and feel like everyday now becomes even more challenging. I don't understand why this happens and feel like so much changes had to be made and I am not sure if things are going to get better. There are days feels good and there are days i wish i am dead. I am not having severe constipation, instead, having diarrhea and then it would really hard to pass motion even though it is not hard. Cramping and bloating on certain days. I can't even work properly cause i need to go to the toilet most of the time either feeling to defecate or to pee. I am also seeing a psychologist for my anxiety and learn about meditation and relaxing hypnotherapy. However, the cramping is so annoying. I have lost some weight and on elimination diet.....feel so tired......
Yep, I relate to all of them; but, what gets me are the folks who not only think I'm exaggerating (lying) but also believe I'm just being a "picky" eater. During really bad flare-ups, I've actually had to go home because I soiled myself. It's horribly embarrassing! Yet until recently, I didn't always speak up for myself and tow the line for my own health; so I'd just eat whatever people served. Lately, after a horrible arthritis flare-up, I've been more diligent about familiarizing myself with the arthritis diet (no nightshades) anti-inflammatory diet, vegan ketogenic diet and then stumbled upon information about the low FODMAP protocol. I'm so exhausted from being unwell for so long that I'm determined to find what will finally work for me. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, ideas and life hacks with us. I'm so glad I found your channel!
Hi Antoinette, no problem at all - glad my videos can help you :) So sorry to hear about your struggles it isn't fair is it. I definitely used to hate when people didn't really believe me :( x
Becky Excell, thanks for your reply. Yes, it sucks; but I'm the type of person who seeks solutions rather than sitting around feeling sorry for myself. Besides I figure those people who speak to me out of ignorance only because they can't relate. I'm sure they have situations in their lives that I can't fully relate to also. While I try to empathize, I'm sure I've offered a cliche here or there - just trying to be helpful. So I try not to take it to heart or hold it against them. Mostly I try to use it as a teaching moment so, hopefully, they won't make erroneous assumptions or those types of comments to anyone else. Your channel is not only like an IBS support group but it's also very educational for open-minded people. Thanks again!
Hello there! I'm surprised to see that you watch Becky. You guys are doing great things for people that suffer with IBS. Keep spreading those positive vIBS.
Matt Foley It's not "all" in a person's head. Your digestive system, the bacteria in your gut, also play a part. "Stress" can influence your symptoms in a negative way but it doesn't cause or lead to IBS. To be clear, there is still no known cause for IBS. We just have a better understanding of what triggers it negatively.
Hi Becky ! As a guy, I really enjoyed this video. This could be good if you and Mark could do a video about men who suffer with IBS, how mark deal with his IBS-D how you support him if you have to adapt your meals because of the different types of IBS etc...
I just found your channel and I wanted to thank you for posting these IBS uploads - it’s kind of comforting when you hear or read something from someone who really “gets” it. I have IBS-D and recently I have been really struggling with this - luckily I work from home or else I would find it even more difficult. I have started to take Heather’s Tummy Fibres soluble fibres and for me they have been so helpful. I have been “stable” for the first time in months for 5 days and counting - those of you with IBS-D won’t think it’s strange that I am counting the days :). My doctors have not been at all helpful - they only became interested at all because my blood iron count is 7 when it should be 12 at least. If you have been struggling to eat healthily for 7 years or so it’s easy to cause malnutrition. Videos like yours are really helpful in seeing what other people eat and how they cope. X
Thank you for this video! I'm not alone after all ;)) I have excessive gas and I always bloat after a meal. I've had IBS for like two years and I don't think it's getting any better. It's such a shame people still haven't found a cure, I mean we live in the 21-st century, still love your videos. Keep on making those videos!
Thank you for being so open about your IBS. It took 6 years for me to be diagnosed. It started when I was 11, extreme vomiting, stomach pains and diarrhea. Dr said it was puberty. The next 6 years I went through hell with it. I took my 9th grade finals drugged up on PM Midol because I was having a never ending flair! I missed the first day of 10 grade, had to make up one day of finals one year, wouldn't spend the night anywhere, missed out on so much my teen age years. During this time my parent's would take me to the Dr and one actually said she saw it all the time in teenagers, IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD. My mother almost punched her. I had a bad flair the week I was suppose to go on my senior trip and my mother decided to take me back to the Dr to see if anything they could do so I could go. I was just done with them! An intern walked in, put down my 5 inch file, looked at me and said "I know exactly what is wrong with you, you suffer from ribs" and I was like ok, right what ever. Confirmation came weeks later. I missed my senior trip. I think the hardest thing hearing was from my grandmother, "it's all in your head, don't think about it, it's not that bad, it's all that pasta they feed you at your school,.." I loved her dearly, but what a crock! One last thing, for the childless ladies, labor feels like a severe flair😱
I have IBS C and if i here this one more time : " eat more veggies, you need more fibre in your diet"... This Constipates me and Causes serious cramps. a lot of Healthy food flares me
I see that too! Aww I'm so sorry to hear that IBS really isn't cool. Make sure you have someone to talk to if you are struggling with it.. even if that's me!! xx
Living with parents during Corona. So lots of: "You're not bloated you're just fat" "How can you possibly have a stomach ache everyday?" "Finish your plate" "Why are you always in the bathroom? You have to learn to share." Can't wait to go back to my own place. IBS is so much easier living alone. I wonder if I'll live alone forever.
I live at home still and having ibs-d with one bathroom and multiple members of the family home is the most embarrassing thing and always having to tell someone "just another minute" as you stomach rumbles is the worst feeling
Sadly I’m in never ending cycle, I have anxiety really bad sometimes match with my chronic IBS I have cramps that feel like someone stabbing me in the gut sometimes it even goes to my lower back and I can’t even move, people need to stop being so arrogant.
OOo, excellent video...as a former IBS sufferer, I heard a lot of these, and now as a coach, I hear these things all the time from my clients, I feel so bad for them!
Been diagnosed with IBS-C for the past two years. Thankfully onion garlic and spice don't trigger mine but if i touch anything with lactose, i go berserk.
So happy I found you. The first comment is always a frustrating one; my own best friend said that. It's usually when my loved ones SEE me experience the pain that they realise how serious it is, and this can be years after I've told them I have IBS.
Yeah completely feel you with this. It really does take for others to see how badly it can affect you, for them to believe you. I kind of understand why but it's frustrating nevertheless x
Yess!!! I hear ALL OF THESE all the time! It's like STOP. You don't understand me seriously. Please quit trying to diagnose me. Or don't tell me how my stomach and intestines are working....😱😱😱 you don't know! You and Mark did awesome. Love you two. This was a great video. Xx
I have IBS too, and its living hell. My social life is completely destroyed. Because of it I have developed depression and anxiety. I hate going out with my friends because im scared something might happen. And having Anxiety makes it even worse, because the more tense and scared i am, the worse it gets.
I can really relate to this! I had some wheat accidentally in a stock, and I'm still not back to normal 2 weeks later :( Some people also tend to think I'm just being difficult when I can't eat certain foods as well.
Great video. I have had ISB-C for years, this year it switched to ISB-D (doctor confirmed still IBS). It's the best of both worlds, lol. Most of the items in that bowl were triggers but good to hear other people find them frustrating too 🙂
These questions are all incredibly rude...I feel like these people don't even deserve an answer. Nobody should ever have to "defend" having a medical condition or doing whatever is required to treat it.
Old comment but i usually just pack a nut bar in my bag and i have my fav gf bread i buy so i make some sandwiches from that. When it's a longer journey like on a plane or train i try to eat less and mainly green salads, no fruit, w meat. That keeps the bloating down and makes things more comfy. Also lots of water. 👍 Hope this helps 😎
It's so annoying when people say to me about my IBS "you should try this you're missing out...you have really good self control...I wish I got sick after junk food".
peppermint oil tablets and peppermint tea help me the most I think. This video I did a while ago might help too: th-cam.com/video/NjPzDGrelXM/w-d-xo.html
i feel like people think i'm overreacting when it comes to my symptoms so i usually don't tell anyone about them and have even avoided going to see doctors about it but last week i finally did a blood test and it's looking like i have celiac disease on top of being lactose intolerant 🙈
Aww really sorry to hear that, but also really pleased you went to the doctors and got checked out. At least you then know what you really need to do. Maybe if you get a full diagnosis it might be the right time to tell a few people you are close to and trust, you shouldnt have to not tell others! xx
I have lbs where it goes from constipation then to diarrhea and digestion problems. It's really aggravating trying to explain why I can't eat certain foods.
It must so aggravating and annoying and I don’t even have ibs, but I can only imagine what you go through on a regular basis. I hope someday you find the right diet, exercise and routine to manage it. When you have ibs with constipation and diarrhoea is called IBS-M, meaning mixed bowel movements. I know I don’t you and you don’t know me, but I am here for you if you need an ear to talk to and I’ll be listening. Take care ☺️☺️☺️
this is TOO relevant, especially the gluten free part. I have a wheat intolerance and if I'm out + about or at someone else's house I generally tell them I'm gluten free as that covers wheat free. They might then seeing me eat something with gluten but not wheat and think I'm one of those people that eats gluten free for fashion
God that's really frustrating. People so often think that we eat like we do as a lifestyle choice, some people do and that's fine, but when you don't it's really annoying! If I were just wheat free I think I would just say gluten free as well like you do, people just understand it more... or should do!!
Emily Blacknell it's the same for me with lactose. I can tolerate some cheeses and I will sometimes have some ice cream -knowing very well it won't do me any good. But it's easier to tell people I don't really know that well that I'm lactose intolerant altogether, and then I get the annoying "oh I thought you said you couldn't eat that"
I know this comment is 3 years old lol 😂 but i can relate. Im low fodmap more than gluten free but sometimes some foods are really bad (barley) and it's just a bit complicated for ppl to get so i say I'm gluten free. Then they see me eat some sourdough...lol
One thing that I am tired of hearing (as I am just now getting medical help and a proper diagnosis at 24) is that I need to be aggressive about explaining my symptoms and demand better care at the Dr.. The US healthcare system can make you wait a long time for appointments and procedures. I'm having a hard enough time just managing my symptoms and eating enough and I have anxiety that keeps me house bound most days. If they really wanted to help, they could come with me and advocate for me, but it always seems to be my fault if I have to wait for care or the doctors don't have answers.
As someone with IBS who CAN eat gluten, I often get the opposite as well: "How can you eat gluten if you have IBS?" Some people just don't realize food triggers are very individual, but others are really condescending about it, like, "If you can eat bread, you definitely don't have IBS."
*”Do you know what’s wrong with you?” or “Maybe you should go see a doctor?”* - Thanks for the recommendation genius! This is by far my biggest annoyance. Like they somehow managed to solve my stomach problems with one simple question I couldn’t have possibly thought of on my own. *”Stop hogging the toilet.” Or “Do you really need to be in there that long?* *”See you in an hour.”* - Said to me when I’m getting up to go use restroom. *”Have you tried not eating (instead food here)? I bet it’s from all the (food type) you eat.”* *”Maybe you should go on a diet.”* *”Do you want to go to (movie/show/activity/etc.) or are you going to have stomach issues?”*
Do you want to go to (movie/show/activity/etc.) or are you going to have stomach issues? oh boy that hurts maybe u should go see a doctor is also insane..
"It's all in your head" is the most aggravating one I hear from my folks. What makes living with my IBS-C worse is I have aspergers, pervasive developmental disorder, and anxiety disorder and because of that another one I typically get is, "just don't worry about it and you'll be fine" and well it doesn't quite work. I have one medicine for my IBS-C and it sometimes works. My flare ups range from the levels of mild annoyance to debilitating pain and I'm confined to a bathroom most of the day. Work is almost impossible.
I just found out I have ibs, and i dont really watch what i eat. I love food so much. But i find my self barely being able to eat because I'm in so much pain. It feels like im in pain 24/7
How do you guys say so upbeat and happy? I love your attitude. I have IBS-C for about 5 years I'm miserable.. my whole day involves trying to get rid of this constant feeling that I have to move my bowels.. if I have a party coming up I am so stressed hoping it's going to be a good day. I would love to know your secret on how to stay so positive...
I hate it when my friends always make a comment about my bathroom visits. For years, this one friend has made jokes about me being in the bathroom for “so long”. Well, I have IBS and it does take some time to go on the toilet. Sometimes i can’t even get out what I need to get out.
I don't know why people think too much about ibs. Believe me it is not a big problem at all unless you make it big. I had IBS but now i am completely cured without any harmful medicine just some mental excercise and small herbal medicines. So plz don waste your time and money. I can help u regarding this without money. It is just my step towards humanity.. You can whatsapp me on "+91 8826601203" or send me msge on instagram "parker_1989" I will assist you and you will no longer be an IBS paitent...
I used to have IBS d and coughed and I did crap 💩 myself lol. Fortunately that only lasted a year and now I have chronic IBS c. Don’t you love ❤ life xxxx love the video guys xxxx
The worst part for me (and I've heard it from doctors as well as from friends/family/acquaintances) is that it's not possible that I have IBS-D because if I did I'd be thinner. I had a psychiatrist tell me once that I was too overweight (which I'm not) to have chronic diarrhea. I don't have the best relationship with my body and I usually use food as a way of basically punishing myself. But even when I'm eating well and following my low FODMAP diet, it's not like I lose weight! I hate having this condition and it affects my every day life so badly (together with GAD) but if there's one thing I'm thankful for it's that it has made me much more sympathetic to other people's pain.
Love this! From my experience, there is often so much more than just IBS for people(particularly in nerve related cause). I read so many stories of people with multiple diagnosis(ex/Gastroparesis & IBS). So when people ask what's wrong with you, you just have to shrug because who knows and you don't fit into a nice diagnosis box that doctors have. It sucks to not fit into a box that people can understand and sympathize with, but gut stuff is so individual.... no one can fit into such a specific label that people want to put you in.
If I made my own video on "things ibs people don't want to hear....." I would add your comment to the list. You should NEVER promise anyone relief with some magical treatment. People that have severe issues often have to try many things and there is not often one treatment or thing to help. Next time make your own comment and not reply to others.
Omg this subject can literally drive me bananas.....it's like "Oh I have anxiety too!".......NOOO, YOU DON'T!!! Just because you get anxious doesn't mean you live with GAD...or "why are you on a diet? You're skinny already" Ugh...every single time....or "Just eat a little it will do you good"....or "She never eats anything, thats why she's so skinny" (as if it was such an effing pleasure to not be able to eat cherries, tomatoes, watermelon, peaches, basically all my fav food!) ....or there's another one..."Maybe if you actually put that food in your mouth, your body would get used to it". I could honestly spend hours writing this....
Oh my god, I just want to meet up with you and have a massive moan about all these things!!! It is so true. I have no idea why people think I would choose not to eat delicious healthy foods!!! Maybe we should write a book about this, my frustration is raging! x
I get the 'what can you actually eat?' every time I tell someone about my IBS. I always use the same answer - 'It's easier to list the things I can't eat than the things I can.' Then I go on and list all the big no nos and then say theres some things I can maybe tolerate a bit of. I think when people ask these kinds of questions they want a short answer that they can easily digest (no pun intended).
Definitely drag mark into some more videos! ;) just found your channel, you guys are super awesome. It's nice to have two people showing a perspective in general together
I’ve had a colonoscopy before when I was 8. And when I feel sick I have emetephobia (vomit phobia) which is like anxiety levels!! And I freak out so much about the thought of spewing
Jasmines Art world me too so when I have the stomach pain with the IBS I have a panic attack and the anxiety makes the pain worse and I freak out more cuz of the emetephobia and it’s a vicious cycle and ends up landing me in the emergency room from it :/
So I haven't been diagnosed with IBS but I certainly have many of the symptoms including random extremely painful stomach aches that trigger after random food. Like I'll eat a banana one day and get a stomach ache and the next day I'll eat a banana and I feel fine. It's so random and so painful. I have other symptoms but maybe tmi ;) I feel like most of these relate to me too.
I have ibs and gluten generally sets me off, or at least wheat. Dairy is kind of hit and miss. I’m still trying to fully figure out what I can and can’t have. My friend is lactose intolerant. We sit there commiserating on what we can and can’t have. They’re different things but we get each other.
Aw that's so lovely to hear. I have never found the doctor to be that helpful. I don't know much but I just like to help by sharing my experiences, I think that's what helps the most xx
I think we all try to ignore the pain. I do this every single day! But I also try and resolve the pain and reduce it by altering my diet, drinking peppermint tea, exercising etc. It's worth trying anything if it makes you feel better :) x
Honestly I have IBS and it's completely debilitating. Every time I flare up I have to go straight home from whatever the hell I'm doing so I can lay down and just hope I don't spew. I'm not the type to crap myself because of my anxiety (my anxiety makes me tense up so my sphincter won't relax) but I still struggle leaving the house for a long time because I don't know what I'll do if I flare up far from home. (It's happened once but I was only ~15 minutes away from home so my parents could pick me up. Still sucked.)
I have IBS-D for over 30 years now. Can relate to so many of these, plus here’s a few of my own. 1) Recently started a new probiotic Earth’s Pearls, amazing improvement in my symptoms (order it from Amazon). Started out 3 a day. Now take 1 am , 1 pm. 2) Cold temperatures makes mine much worse. I avoid ice in drinks. Always carry a wrap or sweater in summer in case air conditioning is too cold. Dress in layers in winter, extra shirts. 3) I have less problems with bloating if I eat sourdough bread vs any other type of bread. 4) I can not tolerate any kind of lettuce, not even touching my food, it will immediately bring on explosive symptoms. So I have to tell waitstaff at restaurants that I am allergic to lettuce, that it can not touch my plate not even as a garnish. It’s amazing the number of times I’ve received plates with lettuce. Such as shrimp appetizer. Egg rolls. Tacos. Even a Filet Mingon. 😂 Once had a restaurant remake my hamburger 3 times before they got it right. I have to tell them you can’t just put the food on a different plate, it’s already touched the lettuce this food will make me sick. Don’t get angry, because stress just makes IBSD worse. Just keep calmly explaining you can’t eat the food the way they prepared it, it’s not the way you ordered it.
i had been mostly c but over time it's become a rapid cycle of c c c d d d c. delightful as it is, when i have a really bad flare up that causes colitis, control is out the window. if i could sleep on the toilet, it might be ok. there you go; more grossness i know, but honest grossness.
It's all in your head..my response has been..sit next to if I had eaten something that I should not have eaten for half an hour. Survive that ordeal and then perhaps we can talk. Always works for me.
Ibs pain occurs at one spot that is lower left abdomen or sometimes it's like stabbing pain within abdomen. But it's alwys there. Especially Wen u r under stress.
It's like I look completely normal on the outside except for my bloat that I will always have (always lookin 4 months pregnant) but on the inside, I am like torn up. I'm always tired, I get tired really easily, I have really bad ibs...God I can go on for hours
I remember missing an entire flight because of IBS. The worse part was that I was traveling with someone else and I had to put them through that too...
This video makes me feel so understood, I'm mexican and most of the people around me eat spicy and fatty foods and well it's pretty uncomfortable when "meal time" comes and i have to say "no thanks", cause everybody asks "why" but they actually don't care and they feel like they should make me feel better with phrases like "maybe if you have a bit it won't hurt you" or like "it's all in your mind". But i have learn that i want to be happy and if not being sick makes me happy... then i don't care what others think and I'll eat what makes me feel more comfier, eating shouldn't meant suffering.
You are so right. Do what makes YOU happy first. Then everyone else should be happy for you - happy that you don't feel sick :) Glad this video helped and thanks for your message xx
It's like a never ending stomach ache and on some days it's worse and sometimes it's better
Hope today is one of the better days! x
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "lower back pain ibs symptoms" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my co-worker got excellent results with it
Exactly
OH MY GOD WE HAVE TO BE TWINS! This is exactly how it is for me too ;_;
me too
Gamergirl22816 this is my life right now and when I talk to people about it they seem annoyed or don't believe me.
THIS. I 100% feel you. Anxiety & ibs are such a tough mix to deal with on a daily basis
My pet peeve is the "well I know someone with IBS and they do this and it helps/cured them you should do the same" yes because what works for one works for all 🙄
Exactly, if IBS was the same for everyone there would probably be a cure! The problem is everyone is different!! x
I hate this as well. I know they mean well but I'm sorry, your uncle's friend's brother's wife's ibs isn't most likely to be the exact same as mine so thanks but no thanks, Tim. I'm not interested.
The second worse thing in this particular area for me especially is my mom "educating herself" by googling "how to cure IBS" 🙄 like it's a common cold cured by warm blankets, some head cold pills, and a cuppa 🙄🙄 she even found a video she swore up and down for, of some "doctor" explaining what ibs was and how to cure it though "healthy food, excercise, and meditation"
What? No! That isn't a cure! Sure, it'll maybe help soothe flare ups, or improve overall health or something along those lines but as a cure specifically for ibs? Nah.
That's like telling a patient with terminal cancer "y'know if you did more yoga, you wouldn't have cancer anymore."
👏👏👏👏 exactly were all different have different intolerances
THIS is one of my biggest triggers
Lol 😂
I'm gluten intolerant & lactose intolerant and it sucks when people are like "that must suck, what can you eat?" A lot of companies are coming out with gluten free and lactose free things so it's only getting easier for me to find "normal" foods that I can eat without suffering from pain and feeling horrible all day. Another thing that I hear is "Eating a little bit won't hurt you, you'll be okay." That's a super frustrating comment.
completely agree, eating a little of something definitely wont help a situation. I think it is hard for people to understand who don't have the same problems sadly :(
Vio life vegan cheese is amazing ! You should try it
That stinks, but next time tell them that you should be grateful that it’s just lactose and gluten you can’t eat and not an array of foods like high fodmap.
I also hate when people who know nothing about IBS try to tell me that they know how to fix it... I get that they want to be helpful, but I wish they could understand that there isn't a cure, and just because something helps someone doesn't mean it will help everyone with IBS.
Totally with you on that, IBS is a very individual thing, everyone has it slightly differently because we are all different!
Sarah oh my god, the amount of times I was told TO DO YOGA.
Biggest pet peeve: “well can’t you just hold it, nows not really a convenient time”... with IBS-D unfortunately not :///
My daughter is a bathroom hog but if I say I need to get in there ibs she flies out
Loved this, so true. I also get "maybe if you just ate those foods your stomach would build a tolerance" ...
Haha, I've had that soo many times!! People just don't get it!
Exactly!
My parents say that to me all the time :)))
The worst is when u had tolerance. 😭 Grew up eating fresh bread pizza pasta lentils and everything and over the years developed an intolerance.
Ughhhhh!!! Yesssss
Yes everybody tells me that if I stop thinking about it then it will go away but the reason why I’m thinking about it in the first place is because my stomach is killing me!
This is such a harmful myth!
Hard to get out of your mind when you are in agony and your guts are a threatening volcano.
Hope you are coping ok with everything though x
sarahsalles98 i habe IBS-C too! And i can totally relate!
Your experience sounds identical to mine..
Any body have mild IBS? It seems like I can eat one crappy meal a day for 2 days. Once i hit the third day my symptoms come and linger for a few days. Anyone relate?
I know that Mark definitely relates to you here, that's pretty much his IBS all over :(!
Yes! I eat crap food for like 3 days and I’m fine but then I start paying for it with raging diarreah for the next couple days followed by constipation and then pain and pressure on the belly.
Used to be like that years ago and now just 1 meal would make me sick
Same for me..even my family dont understand me so well...they think that im exaggerating it.
Yep, I think that sadly anyone who doesn't have it can't fully understand :( x
Becky Excell
Yes your right but right now,im healing my ibs and it is effective.i only eat lowfodmap right now for 3 months but im still on the 18th day of my healing process and it reduces my fatigue, depression, bloating and emotional trouble and im confident that ibs is curable.
I've had IBS for a long time...most of my life really. My mom still refuses to modify what she cooks for holidays. She doesn't think it's real. I've started taking my own food to Christmas and Easter dinner.
Actually having IBS is one of the reason why I feel depressed.
So glad you shared bowels and all because being open about the symptoms normalises the illness for most people and then people feel less alone and we need to learn from each other because doctors cannot always tell us the full facts of any illness. Shared experiences are the key. Thank you 😊
No problem. I think it is important as well to talk about this. It really does help to share what we are going through. Glad it has helped x
"I think I got a bit of that sometimes" it kills me inside almost as much as fast food. I loved that you pointed out its mainly women who talk about ibs when it seems in life men are more willing to talk about things like this. Either way. This was a great video. Thank you for making it!
No problem Anthony, I'm glad you enjoyed it! x
No problem, hope you are doing ok x
Ibs c is the worst it's like bing a grizzle bear in hibernation but all the time I feel that there is another reason why it's this bad such overgrowth in small intestient of bacteria yeast fungus and yup parisites .
Not saying if u eradicate these sources it is a cure but it at least is a start bside it could explain why Drs gastro Dr can't find a cause
I have really bad ibs, so when I was put on the elimination diet I found that I couldn't eat from a lot of major groups so it's hard to find new foods that are still nutritious.
Totally agree, I find IBS really affects my nutrition. I don't feel as healthy as I once did as I can eat so much less fruit and veg!
Another I heard recently "You have diarrhea all the time, you should be skinny" If only that were a perk to IBS.
Paige Sewell it did happen to me however
I feel your pain! I'm "healthy" aka meat on my bones. People don't understand how I can go to the bathroom all the time and not lose weight. It's so frustrating.
Melanie Beachlover could be diet related stay away from sugar and fried foods!
That's me and my mom. We both have it and I'm skinny as a rail. Just because you poo 24/7 doesn't mean you'll be a lean machine.
I've actually said this to myself! Wish it were so.
IBS-D here and yes, some times it hits out of nowhere and you can't make it two feet. Have incontinence often.
You two are so cute. Please do more IBS videos. They help me get through my excruciating episodes.
We'll do our best to do more :D
"what can you actually eat?" i get this ALL THE TIME too and i also make myself look a bit stupid because my mind just goes blank
haha i often go blank too! Pretty much just say.. plain chicken... plain rice... plain potato!
"It's all in your head";I've heard that one before, annoying. If your food is "bland" then what am I eating?
Totally agree with my friend here!
Hello there! I'm surprised to see that you watch Becky. You guys are doing great things for people that suffer with IBS. Keep spreading those positive vIBS.
Thanks, Mannie! Always will keep the positive vIBS! ☺
Mannie Manolo it is all in your head, they took that the wrong way, stress leads to ibs therefore it is in your head
It's debilitating and people who don't have it don't understand how disabling it can be. 😊
Oh my! 🙂
"There's only a little bit in there." I get that one the most, and it drives me the most crazy! Thank you! 💛
Oh god! I've had that before too! x
I have IBS C and if i here this one more time : " eat more veggies, you need more fibre in your diet"... This Constipates me and Causes serious cramps. a lot of Healthy food flares me
it looks like his shirt says anxiety when I look over at Becky, which is what I feel 24/7 living with IBS 😭
I see that too! Aww I'm so sorry to hear that IBS really isn't cool. Make sure you have someone to talk to if you are struggling with it.. even if that's me!! xx
thanks a bunch Becky, you're a doll! :)
I got ibs stomach pain and anxiety every days I always feel stomach pain and anxiety alot what can I do
Karina Stepss hi how are you feeling I got always stomach pain for very long time and anxiety as well
Karina Stepss omg i know😂😂
I have actually shat myself three times now due to my IBS. It was like water!
I know how that is....
Living with parents during Corona. So lots of:
"You're not bloated you're just fat"
"How can you possibly have a stomach ache everyday?"
"Finish your plate"
"Why are you always in the bathroom? You have to learn to share."
Can't wait to go back to my own place. IBS is so much easier living alone. I wonder if I'll live alone forever.
People do that over most things they don’t understand. It is soooooo annoying. I can relate to that!
I live at home still and having ibs-d with one bathroom and multiple members of the family home is the most embarrassing thing and always having to tell someone "just another minute" as you stomach rumbles is the worst feeling
Oh my Lord - “I think I got a bit of IBS sometimes, too.” That one makes my eye twitch and I have been told that so many times!
so true lmao, "a bit of ibs" xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
🤣🤣
Sadly I’m in never ending cycle, I have anxiety really bad sometimes match with my chronic IBS I have cramps that feel like someone stabbing me in the gut sometimes it even goes to my lower back and I can’t even move, people need to stop being so arrogant.
I told my doctor that I thought I might have IBS…. His answer was”what do you want me to do about it?
Great stuff. I suffer from IBS so this all makes sense!
As an ibs-d guy, the worst is “Just hold it in”. I don’t think people realize my body is saying push when my brain wishes I could pull
I can really relate to this! I had some wheat accidentally in a stock, and I'm still not back to normal 2 weeks later :( Some people also tend to think I'm just being difficult when I can't eat certain foods as well.
Entertaining and emphatic. I think people who suffer from the same thing feel they are blood brothers and sisters in some way.
How do you get over the anxiety/ (really, paranoia) that comes with traveling with IBS?
Old comment but i usually just pack a nut bar in my bag and i have my fav gf bread i buy so i make some sandwiches from that. When it's a longer journey like on a plane or train i try to eat less and mainly green salads, no fruit, w meat. That keeps the bloating down and makes things more comfy. Also lots of water. 👍 Hope this helps 😎
I can 100% relate to this...sometimes people can be annoying
It's so annoying when people say to me about my IBS "you should try this you're missing out...you have really good self control...I wish I got sick after junk food".
Do you have any tips on reducing bloating? I have ibs and I am constantly bloated and can't seem to solve the problem.
peppermint oil tablets and peppermint tea help me the most I think. This video I did a while ago might help too: th-cam.com/video/NjPzDGrelXM/w-d-xo.html
Becky Excell What if you're allergic to peppermint tea?
i feel like people think i'm overreacting when it comes to my symptoms so i usually don't tell anyone about them and have even avoided going to see doctors about it but last week i finally did a blood test and it's looking like i have celiac disease on top of being lactose intolerant 🙈
Aww really sorry to hear that, but also really pleased you went to the doctors and got checked out. At least you then know what you really need to do. Maybe if you get a full diagnosis it might be the right time to tell a few people you are close to and trust, you shouldnt have to not tell others! xx
one of the questions i get LOADS is........when is your baby due? Really!!
yep, ridiculous hey! Like I've never said that to anyone!!
sandra trafford all the time 😂
Yup! My friends would be shocked when I actually am as I look more pregnant than my pregnant friends x
Have you tried sourdough of spelt? I too have wheat as the biggest killer, but spelt sourdough(i make it myself) is completely fine for my ibs☺
Brilliant work! Keep it up!
As someone with IBS who CAN eat gluten, I often get the opposite as well: "How can you eat gluten if you have IBS?" Some people just don't realize food triggers are very individual, but others are really condescending about it, like, "If you can eat bread, you definitely don't have IBS."
same for me but with lactose !! also "how can that be ? you don't have diarrheas ?"
*”Do you know what’s wrong with you?” or “Maybe you should go see a doctor?”* - Thanks for the recommendation genius! This is by far my biggest annoyance. Like they somehow managed to solve my stomach problems with one simple question I couldn’t have possibly thought of on my own.
*”Stop hogging the toilet.” Or “Do you really need to be in there that long?*
*”See you in an hour.”* - Said to me when I’m getting up to go use restroom.
*”Have you tried not eating (instead food here)? I bet it’s from all the (food type) you eat.”*
*”Maybe you should go on a diet.”*
*”Do you want to go to (movie/show/activity/etc.) or are you going to have stomach issues?”*
Do you want to go to (movie/show/activity/etc.) or are you going to have stomach issues? oh boy that hurts
maybe u should go see a doctor is also insane..
❤️ listening to you Becky 😊
Is it common to feel actual nausea during a flare?
I love your video's Becky. I feel not so alone with your videos and thankyou too Mark you both are great
Got my diagnosis SEP 29th, 2022. THANK YOU for this video.💞💕 Yes i agree, the 1st one from the family, is the Worst comment !!!😖😖
I always get told it’s in my head but no it’s not. No one understands except people who suffer from it
I just found out I have ibs, and i dont really watch what i eat. I love food so much. But i find my self barely being able to eat because I'm in so much pain. It feels like im in pain 24/7
When people all of a sudden think there my nutritional expert. And think they can tell me what I can and can’t eat
It's every single day and anxiety makes it worse
I hate it when my friends always make a comment about my bathroom visits. For years, this one friend has made jokes about me being in the bathroom for “so long”. Well, I have IBS and it does take some time to go on the toilet. Sometimes i can’t even get out what I need to get out.
I don't know why people think too much about ibs. Believe me it is not a big problem at all unless you make it big. I had IBS but now i am completely cured without any harmful medicine just some mental excercise and small herbal medicines. So plz don waste your time and money. I can help u regarding this without money. It is just my step towards humanity..
You can whatsapp me on "+91 8826601203" or send me msge on instagram "parker_1989"
I will assist you and you will no longer be an IBS paitent...
It's all in your head is the go to for things people don't understand.
This made me laugh because it is so true...I cannot count the amount of times close family members have said this stuff to me, it's very irritating x
Keep up the good it’s been amazing hearing people talk about similar issues I’ve been having
I'm 32 and my ibs d started when I was around 9. I myself have never shit myself.
Maybe we should write a book about this, my frustration is raging! x
Haha yeah!
Will do Tristan, I like him being in there too so I'll keep dragging him in!
I have other symptoms but maybe tmi ;)
I feel like most of these relate to me too.
My teenage daughter is going through the same thing. Have you found relief?
I have ibs and gluten generally sets me off, or at least wheat. Dairy is kind of hit and miss. I’m still trying to fully figure out what I can and can’t have. My friend is lactose intolerant. We sit there commiserating on what we can and can’t have. They’re different things but we get each other.
Thank you so much for your videos explaining ibs and giving the tips because you have helped me so much more then any doctor has so thank you so much!
Aw that's so lovely to hear. I have never found the doctor to be that helpful. I don't know much but I just like to help by sharing my experiences, I think that's what helps the most xx
Am I the only one that have Ibs and just try to ignore the pain
I think we all try to ignore the pain. I do this every single day! But I also try and resolve the pain and reduce it by altering my diet, drinking peppermint tea, exercising etc. It's worth trying anything if it makes you feel better :) x
Then you must not have a bad case of ibs if you can ignore the pain. I am happy I found Becky, she makes me feel that I am not alone with my ibs.
I love you guys so much for making this video, I get so much bullshit like this from people who don't understand or care to understand IBS.
And thanks for giving me a smile about it. I appreciate that
I have IBS-D for over 30 years now.
Beyond Lawliet IBS is not disease it is called nabhi in India some exercise it is cure some days
i had been mostly c but over time it's become a rapid cycle of c c c d d d c. delightful as it is, when i have a really bad flare up that causes colitis, control is out the window. if i could sleep on the toilet, it might be ok. there you go; more grossness i know, but honest grossness.
that's what we are all here for though, to talk about things that others might not like to talk about! We are all like this together :) x
You are amazing !!! I am literally feeling this way and just in pain and crying ugh
Have had this pain on left side for almost 10yrs along with other symptoms. No life but everyday think tomorrow will be better.
Most hurtful comments can be from family. My dad told me I do it on purpose. My brother says I don't need that much TP...ohhhh but I do. Lol
Then everyone else should be happy for you - happy that you don't feel sick :)
Glad this video helped and thanks for your message xx
Also a pet peeve of mine is that buscopan and imodium are so expensive!! Its so unfair!!
