+SS3Dman Modded Twin Famicom is where it's at. They would have to dig up a ton of FDS drives or spend a ton remanufacturing them. I won't hold my breath for someone to recreate them.
+SS3Dman For 500 this damn thing should play every cartridge console ever perfectly and support HDMI out of the box. Seriously, that price is just ridiculous. If I want to duplicate the insides of an NES, I can get a top loader for 50 bucks, a multiport for another 30, and just AV mod the whole darn thing when I drop in into a 3D printed case, all for under 100 bucks total. I mean, the internals of the NES would cost all of 20 bucks to duplicate chip for chip, meaning that you're buying a 40 dollar NES in a 450 dollar case. SCREW. THAT. The NES has odd hardware compared to most of the other classic 8-bit consoles, sure, but seriously, at this price more than an NES/famicom is needed to justify the price. With the case being milled aluminum I wouldn't be surprised if the internals, despite being original, are also miniscule in the space they take, with the bulk of the unit being a thick-walled block of metal, meaning that in a reasonable case -- heck, go pressed steel similar to a PC case at that -- you could easily duplicate a Sega Mark III/Master System, Colecovision, etc. with original BIOS and so on and fit them all in the same space. Emulation ain't ideal, no. But at least the Retron 5 is cost efficient, and I just can't see audio quality alone -- on a mono output 8 bit console -- to be worth paying over 450 dollars more than necessary to experience the games.
+Guerilla Grue Plays For 500 bucks yu can buy a lot of old japanese consoles and computers. But there's a sucker born every minute, so if their production run is not excessively large, they'll probably be able to sell it at that prize.
For that price and the HDMI upgrade, you can buy: -An AV Famicom or Top Loading NES (with a 72 to 60 or 60 to 72 pin converter) -Mod it for SCART RGB -Buy an XRGB-Mini Framemeister with a JP-21 to SCART converter This will give you a better setup, more options and the capacity to play most of your other retro systems in RGB on your HDTV. I've been told that one of the most expensive part of the Analog NT is the casing. If this is true, then is was a dumb decision.
+8BitNation yeah and if youre doing that why not get the hi-def nes kit instead, assuming it costs about the same unless youre only going to ever use it on a crt
+8BitNation Considering the waiting line to get an Analog NT (they have a backlog, most people who pre-ordered over a year ago still haven't got theirs), you'd be better off finding someone to RGB-mod your NES or Famicom. It's not very expensive and anyone with soldering skills can do it. Finally, like I said before, your XRGB-Mini can be used for other systems that are already RGB-ready such as an SNES, Genesis, Master System, Saturn, PS1, Jaguar and NEO-GEO AES.
+Gabriel Stinson If for some reason, all you care about is NES/Famicom, then yes, Analog NT is the way to go, but if you're looking to get a retro RGB fix for all your systems, then this will only cost you more. As for Lag, I get no lag with my XRGB-Mini and trust me, I've seen lag with the Retron5. This is a TV + Device issue which I'm sure the Analog NT is not immune to either.
+lightsouthaha I've done many tests on my LED TV for input lag. My main test, the Super Mario 1 Pipe Jumps, Simply put it, there's an area in 1-1 with 4 pipes one after another, you need to jump from the first to the 2nd, to the 3rd and the 4th without hitting the floor. You need to jump from the ledge while running to make this work, any lag, your jump won't register in time and you'll hit the floor. My results: 1- NES Emulator from my media PC: No Lags 2- Famicom AV directly connected to my TV: No Lags 3- Famicom AV connected to my XRGB-Mini then to my TV: No Lags 4- Retron5 with that same Famicom cart: Major Lags If you can do this test with the Retron5, great, your TV's game mode is very compatible with the Retron5, but mine is not.
+Mojo There's probably a bigger subset of people who have HDMI TVs and would rather play games on that than having to go down to the basement where their PVM is.
Nukle0n Then why is the HDMI upgrade not available for the cmvs? It aims the same kind of audience I suppose. Unless someone from Analogue give us number we can only guess.
+Mojo Because Analogue cannot develop stuff like this. The only reason this has HDMI is because Kevtris designed the board and they begged him to use it because their "better than a Framemeister" external RGB to HDMI converter never existed. So until Kevtris or someone else develops an HDMI mod for an MVS, Analogue has no way to add one.
Analogue released DAC recently, it looks ok, but I can't tell for sure if the analog video output will be of adequate quality for us retrogaming communtity. Is the hdmi to RGB scart - Digital to analog - conversion decent enought to compare with a native real hardware of snes / sega mega drive consoles? I was hesitated to pick up a mega sg or a super nt analogue consoles because they lack a RGB video output for my CRT TVs. Maybe this is the right time? Still, I have my doubts about how the RGB video quality will look like. I use good quality consumer CRT tvs (I have five of them). I wonder why the mega sg and the super nt analogue consoles are much cheaper than nt mini console (500$). First the RGB video output was cut off to lower the production costs. Then, an additional DAC circuit board is advertised to fulfill retrogaming community expactations. I still have my doubts, I don’t see many youtube videos with the DAC connected with analogue consoles to a CRT tv setup. I have a feeling that we are in the middle of a massive CRT tv production. China already manufacture their own CRT TVs, but they lack the specs of the correct resolution, refresh rate etc to meet our retrogaming community requirements. I know in USA is very difficult to pick up a CRT TV, but here in Europe there are plenty of them in used condition.

How does this look on a LED TV? Does it scale or is the input lag fixed in this? Kudos for using real hardware and not an emulation like the Retron 5 but damn $500 it better have a buildt in Framemeister.
+Mario Morales It's the very old stereo mod, basically the NES has 5 sound channels, 2 of these are pulse/square wave channels, you take one and put it on the left and the other and put it on the right, and you have "stereo". It really depends on the game how this sounds, so usually there's a switch on the back to turn it off so it just becomes dual mono.

Was the weird inbetween aspect ratio on your part or the system? This is very important to me. I'll probably never be able to afford it but if I do, it needs to be perfect 4:3 on an HDTV. I've yet to see that happen on an emulator/upscaler. Even Nintendo's official Wii U emulator screws that up. I need it to be perfect 4:3 top, bottom, and sides.
Did you get the HDMI upgrade? I read on their site that if you get the HDMI version it will only output in HDMI or composite. What would you recommend?
I also heard this doesn't work with the Nintendo EverDrive (N8). I can understand why the Retron 5 doesn't work with it since it dumps the rom and emulates it, but according to Analogue, this should play everything the original hardware is capable of playing. So.....?
"Original Hardware" ...what exactly does that mean? Did they take boards out of old NES machines and put it in this? Or does this have new boards that are exactly as they were in 1985?

Sure it is pricey but it looks great and sounds great on modern TVs. I actually didn't realize the HDMI version was more. Time to play the Lottery. It is pricey but I am glad it exists. I would love it if they made a Sega Master System version that has the FM sound chip. Thanks for the review!
+LAKSHAY SHARMA I really doubt that. They made way too many of them. You can easily get a PS2 for about $25 today. There's noway it will jump to $500 in just a couple of years. The only way that could happen is if the value of the dollar dropped like crazy.
It would have been WAY better to have the Famicom slot in front. That way, you can show off both an NES cart and Famicom cart without blocking the Famicom cart, and the FDS adapter won't hang off the back.
for those once who don't know what's that game on 5.19 with that soldier, it's code name viper, I mention this because I was so confsed with since I first tout that it was a sequel to one of those other run & gun games, but man what was I wrong, haha lol. and yeah it's true, analogue NT does what nintendon't.
you should make note that the case is basically all that Analogue did. The actual video/sound upgrade was all done by Tim Worthington in the non HDMI model. And you really didn't use anything better than svideo?
Man, this looks neat, but that pricetag... One thing that kinda bugged me, when the sound is output in stereo, all the sound effects seem to be hard-panned to the left channel. I suppose it's a limitation of the hardware, but it's a bit weird all the same.
As awesome as this looks and sounds... Since moving into my new place i dont have room for all my consoles to be hooked up So Im happy with my Shield... Get all I want on it in a nice little console.

I can understand why the Retron 5 doesn't work with it since it dumps the rom and emulates it, but according to Analogue, this should play everything the original hardware is capable of playing. So.....?
i just want to know if i can bust this thing open and find the "original" chips from '85
yo can!
Damn. Those visuals are crisp as a knife made of diamond in the centre of the sun
That thing is gorgeous!! The Game Com is fiercely jealous..
Wow, the sound is amazing on stereo headphone.
I miss those days when consoles where consoles and not part pc. It was just a simple time when you just pop in a game and you are already playing it.
Lord, did you checkout the 80 percent off sale gamestop is having on ps2 games? Alot are down to 50- 1.00 each. online only
"Original Hardware" ...what exactly does that mean? Did they take boards out of old NES machines and put it in this? Or does this have new boards that are exactly as they were in 1985?
+VintageGamer.com New PCB with PPU & CPU scavenged from old Famicoms.

I'm sure that they'll be happy to get their... Analogue NT back.

Mark, what are you going to beat Derek with now?
hmmmm.....might be nice for nsf playing
good audio
fds support
i need it but i dont at the same time
Sure it is pricey but it looks great and sounds great on modern TVs. I actually didn't realize the HDMI version was more. Time to play the Lottery. It is pricey but I am glad it exists. I would love it if they made a Sega Master System version that has the FM sound chip. Thanks for the review!
Did you try it on a flatscreen at all? HD?
Does duck hunt work over hdmi if it doesn't you can have it
No it doesn't work
What happens when you put 2 cartridges in that in the same time?
what's the name of the game in the thumbnail? I had this game as a kid pls help
After Few Years PS2 Will Be 500$ aswell 😍👌😎
It NEVER will, sold way too many units.
I'm saving my ps2 so that in few years I could sell it for 500 bucks
😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
+LAKSHAY SHARMA
I really doubt that. They made way too many of them. You can easily get a PS2 for about $25 today. There's noway it will jump to $500 in just a couple of years. The only way that could happen is if the value of the dollar dropped like crazy.
+Angel Kibble they already did. Its called the launch day 60gb ps3.
no it won't a remake of it will be 500$
Can you review bonanza bros for the sega genesis please?
It would have been WAY better to have the Famicom slot in front. That way, you can show off both an NES cart and Famicom cart without blocking the Famicom cart, and the FDS adapter won't hang off the back.
You can't plug in both carts at the same time.
Lukas Peruzovic Yes, but for display.
analog please make a Snes version with Hdmi. Awesome review
what was that last game you showed???
What's the last game featured in this video?
Is it just me or do the cartridges never seem to seat themselves smoothly?
for those once who don't know what's that game on 5.19 with that soldier, it's code name viper, I mention this because I was so confsed with since I first tout that it was a sequel to one of those other run & gun games, but man what was I wrong, haha lol.
and yeah it's true, analogue NT does what nintendon't.
Does it play PAL NES carts?
"if the original NES is Jar Jar Binks..."
You take that back!
Retro VGS will bring us back to the golden age of gaming. get HYPE!
whats the name of the afrobeat track?
Game at 3:00?
you should make note that the case is basically all that Analogue did. The actual video/sound upgrade was all done by Tim Worthington in the non HDMI model.
And you really didn't use anything better than svideo?
does this work with flash carts?
That thing is friggin sweet!
That thing looks insane
Does it output component?
i hope to see a retron 5 vs analogue nt...
Awesome ending!
they only needed translation, and one USB port for PS3 controller sync.
500 with no HDMI?
Man, this looks neat, but that pricetag...
One thing that kinda bugged me, when the sound is output in stereo, all the sound effects seem to be hard-panned to the left channel. I suppose it's a limitation of the hardware, but it's a bit weird all the same.
Too bad it couldn't reduce/remove sprite flicker. Kevtris' chip alone makes it awesome.
As awesome as this looks and sounds...
Since moving into my new place i dont have room for all my consoles to be hooked up So Im happy with my Shield... Get all I want on it in a nice little console.
Play the Japanese version of Castlevania 3 on that thing for the extra sound channels!
Does this have game saves???
can it play pirate famiclone carts?
Pretty cool looking console
Now make one that is basically a Sega Neptune and we are in good shape
it looks really good !
but can it play truxton?
Will it run Crysis?
Awesome graphics without emulation. I liked the console.
