    I really appreciate guys like this dude... y'all make me look like gods gift to carpet repair. Cause anyone who really knows carpet repairs knows that you will be restreching that carpet within a year or so and you can poke holes in the carpet. Not to mention you void any warranty the carpet may have had.
    Here's a tip. Don't try to cut corners and find ways to get the job done faster because it almost always ends up with the job not being done right. Do it the right way or just don't do it at all. I do not recommend using this video for instructional purposes at all. I learned from a man who has 48 years experience. Trust me cutting corners never works in the long run

    As an installer, when the last guy I hired pulled out his stinger, I gave him 2 options. Get it off my jon or find someone else to work for. Not only does this void the warranty, but it can rip the carpet and it jabs holes in the subfloor... I do not recommend this method..

      Pretty typical.. insults and belittling is the new fad. Ok, so you got 5 years on me. I'll give ya that, but in my 15 years, I've pulled up a LOT of capet and can always tell when the stinger/spike has been used. I wouldn't be able to do that if there wasn't little holes in the subfloor.. as for your opinions on kickers, I'm right there with ya. It's asinine to beat yourself to death when a good stretcher does the job easier and better. HOWEVER..Do yourself a favor and go over to Google and type in "does using a stinger on stretcher void carpet warranty".. In most cases and through most manufacturers, it does. Now, I'm not going to call you ignorant, stupid or anything else negative because we have way too much negativity in this world, but I am going to say that I am not wrong and I am considered by many different contractors throughout the Carolinas as "the best" flooring (not just carpet) installer around. You do what works for you and I wish you all the best.

      @@marcusl8243 LMAO!
      yea, you're absolutely right. I am full of myself. That tends to happen when you take a lot of pride in what you do, never get called back for repairs and do everything as professionally as possible. Also, when a manufacturer says, "that will void all warranties", well... I just don't do it. That's exactly why I don't use the stinger. You say that the head put holes in the carpet? Yea it does. Slightly larger than a pencil lead, versus larger than the pencil. For the record, I'm not pretending to be "Mr respectful". It's just who I am. I know it sounds crazy but there are those who can discuss things on the internet without being disrespectful. You should try it. You'll get better responses and maybe even learn a few things. We all can still learn and that's ok... moving on.
      Yes, I may have "ignorance due to lack of experience with the pin", but that's only because when I was taught, I was taught to stretch using the poles. When I started my own business, I looked into the stinger because I'm all about working smarter not harder, but when I learned that it actually does void all warranties and doesn't actually stretch as well as using the poles AND actually does do damage to the subfloor, I decided it's just not for me. BUT, as I said earlier, you do what works for you. If you've never had a claim, good! If the customers never complain, great! Just hope you never have a problem that calls for a 3rd party inspector. Otherwise, you'll most likely be screwed.
      I'll not be answering anymore of your replies because like the majority, you can't take any kind of criticism, and can't play nice. You have a great day sir, and as I said before, I wish you all the best. 😊

      @ksmith3702 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@lcmwarriorlcm So, does he use it on a concrete floor? The "stinger" doesn't work, it will basically work on wood floors for a very small area to stretch, like a small closet or an area where the stretcher with the foot wont fit. All a manufacturer's rep would have to see is the holes left behind in the backing of the carpet to void any warrantee, and it would be deemed Installer error for not using correct tools for the installation...

    • @Spittin_Bars
      @Spittin_Bars 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It works on concrete just fine, you build a jig with 2x4's if you dont have poles. My dad has used a stinger for 30 years and never had a call back, we win awards for our floors, never use it on real thick cut pile or berber and never over stretch it. It will stretch more than a pole with a good subfloor and you need to know when you're stretching and when you are damaging the floor, its mainly for builder grade carpets with frizzae and trailers or homes with weak walls. It's a life saver if you know what you are doing and there are tons of videos showing it does very little damage to the backing. The head pokes more holes in the carpet than the stinger so why arent you calling that damage?

      @@jc-zp1de I clean carpet primarily. I do short stretches to Re stretch. I've seen others use the Tri force and get good results on long runs but I can't speak for myself. I purchased the Tri force kicks which is similar in design to the kneeless kicker. It's designed to work with my junior power head or I guess any Power head. Longest stretch I've done on it was 11 and a 1/2 Feet.
