I just got finished building this Music Streamer and used your video as a tutorial. You made it very, very easy to do. Some of the instructions for the software are a little different because the software gets updated frequently but I was able to do everything in your video. THANK YOU! I had a blast building this and now off to see what it can do! 😀
Thank you Jiles this looks like a lot of fun. Do you have an opinion, that you can share, about the Raspberry Pi DAC Pro for someone using an application similar to that is described in the video?
This was a nice video, very well explained (esp. the ethernet setup) something that is omitted in other videos. The cherry on the cake would have been a DAC hat on the Pi instead of an external usb dac.
@@spireprintingpackaging2093 Those DAC HATs are fine but they are no where near the performance of a good external DAC. I'll probably end up running a optical HAT to the DAC. Looks like the HIFIBERRY DIGI2 PRO might do the trick. Thanks for the recommendation.
Can you please tell me whether there is enough space under the cover of the SmartiPi Touch 2 - Stand For Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen Display for a Raspberry Pi 4B and Raspberry Pi DAC Pro combo? If not, what would you recommend?

helllo. ,, Ive download alll my cds to Itunes ,,,, 4000 cds and my my play list to the mood i like nooow ,, the million dollar question is how do i use my 5 Alexas to connect to my mac mini and play my play list ???
@@JilesMcCoy first, thank you for the video, because it is not about polemicizing. The difference is ideological: consuming something is associated with a type of economic structure. If music is art and not a consumer good, because otherwise it ceases to be art, then it is a misnomer. Now, if music is degraded to a consumer good, it is precisely because its production is ideological. When the term is equated, an injustice and an aesthetic (philosophical) error is committed.

Thats awesome! Glad it was helpful. I will do another of these when the new rPi4 arrives here!
I just ordered the parts! Excited!
Let me know how it goes!
Its cool how it shows the album art.
Agreed!
Works great with Starke Sound speakers too. The VLOT makes it easy!
That VLOT is NICE
I could use this to play music during my workouts.
For sure!
Great video, you should however add a follow up video on the actual use of the screen with ropieee and roon.
Will do
Id use this. Looks sweet.
It sounds great!
Hello, how can I play music that I have on an external hard drive connected to the raspberry?
I would install Volumio. It should let you plug in that hard drive directly.
This is true hifi streaming!
Oh yes!
Does the usb out put have to power a DAC or can it provide the info only to a DAC that has USB input? Thanks
Hi, is there any reasonably priced linear power supply for R Pi4? Thanks

I’ve not used that DAC before. Do you have it yet?
@@JilesMcCoy Yeah I do have it, while I believe it sounds better than anything else in the house I can't quantify that idea.
Does it work with Tidal? Spotify?
Anything that Roon works wioth!

If I had a dac hat I would have :-) But I had an external...
Do you need 8GB?
Do eeet
You do not but you really aren't saving much money.
Great Video. I use a Allo Digi One Hat on my Pi. Do you think it would fit in this setup so I could have a screen too? Thanks
Could you do this using a DAC hat? It would be really nice to have everything in one box.
Absolutely you can do that. You just need a different case. There are many hat DACs to choose from.
Awesome! May I know is it necessary to use the DAC powered by roon bridge? Does the DACs with it's own power supply still works?
You can use any DAC really. It’s just nice that some can draw power from the pi if you want to.
Can you use a Dragon Fly Dac with this?
Anything that is USB should work ok.
Excellent guide
I was of the understanding that the Pi’s USB ports were SUPER noisy and not a good option for DACs?
add hifi berry or allo sig top hat, with dual power supplies for best audio quality

Can you play from an USB? I mean having your library on an USB and map it so it plays from the USB.
Not with this bridge device.

Where can you get the music. Do you have to own it? Does it work with Spotify? Amazon Music? Apple Music? TH-cam music?
And also... do you need to buy the DAC?
I use mine with Qobuz. This is a Roon endpoint so you need Roon too.
Yes, you need a DAC of some kind.
Nice
Thanks!
I can build that.
100%
This Is in my to do list
Dooo eettt!
listen music, not consume music
Consume is just a general term used to describe using any kind of media. It equates to listen. Its not a reference to eating.
