I had a similar issue but not jamming, just didn’t like going fully into battery “sometimes”. I was running a 17 lb recoil spring. I was reluctant to go to the brute force fix so I focused on what happens as the slide returns. It turned out that it would hang up ever so slightly as the safety plunger was being depressed by the trigger bar. The reason it hung up was a small lip around the top of the plunger and an out of spec extractor spring plunger. We are only talking a thousandth or so where the safety plunger is engaged by the extractor plunger. I polished the safety plunger after removing the lip and removed a minute amount of material where the extractor plunger engages the safety plunger. I’m on my fifth P80 build and the most important thing I’ve learned is I don’t waste any more money buying aftermarket lower parts. I only buy OEM parts now. On the last two builds all I used were OEM. One is a Glock 17 with a Johnny Glock trigger, which is SWEET and the other is a Glock 20. Both fired perfectly and have 200 rounds through each. The 20 is a beast. Love your videos, helped me a bunch on my stuff. 👍🏼

My 34 p80 has never loaded properly I can’t figure out why I’m gonna try changing the spring it’s not the clips cuz every clip I’ve put on it don’t feed right it jus doesn’t go into the ramp smooth and the bullet gets caught when u rack it

99% check trigger bar catch on plunger, check take down lever spring, then also check recoil springs last. At times specs are a tad off or have grooves and lips on the trigger bar catch, plunger and the take down lever at times rides a little higher causing issues. Also typically 115Gr have issues until p80 broken in, use 124-147gr to really break it in. I’ve worked in my 9mm P80 guide rod springs in a 40 to break it in.

@@JARG most springs aren’t broken in with kits so under power ammo causes “nose up jams” meaning the slide is not going back far enough to grab the cartridge causing it to grab just in front of the lip rather than fully behind it shoving it upwards causing a “nose up jam” most call failure to feed meaning under power ammo, to strong of recoil spring or wear on the slide to frame or possibly trigger bar catching on plunger if outta spec.

Can you do a video for the Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit problems especially with a P80 frame? Ive been having feed and cycle issues with it as well and since its a rimfire conversion I'm not sure if a heavier recoil spring would work for it.

    • @JARG
      @JARG  ปีที่แล้ว

I do not have a 22 conversion. I would suspect feed issues. You need a strong recoil to go into battery. But then the 22 won’t cycle it. You need some FLITZ in the slide and manually cycle it a couple hundred times. Clean and then reassess.

Advantage tells you right on their website not to be used with the P80 because it has a different feeding than factory. That being said my father & I tried it anyway. Ideally if someone came out with mags that had the same angle it should fix it. I'm going to bevel the barrel right where the feed ramp transitions into the barrel and hope that fixes it. If you found anything that helps let me know!

I need to polish both my G19 feed ramps, polish the safety plungers and look for anything rubbing on the slide, then I'm going for the recoil spring. I will probably just order the springs anyway. Need to get sone OEM mags too. I'm using P-mags. On your mag problem, I wonder if you need to polish the top metal lips of the mag, that hold the rounds? Maybe bits of metal hanging up the ammo? Thanks for all the fail to feed tips.
Can you do a video about the suppressor and the adaptive brace you're using? Why to use either, and what to look for, price range, etc. One of my G19s has a threaded barrel and could potentially use suppression.

So I see that gets the slide forward more but mine gets hung up after firing. I thought the same thing but with lighter spring. I haven’t shot more than 5-6 rounds thru with 34 slide none with 17 slide and I’ve hear a lot of people saying just “break it in like really break it in 200+”. Also I have madddd barrel wobble like when cycling back it hangs with the slide for about 1/8 1/4th of an inch and when locked back jiggles around more than a pair fake tits 😂 also oem parts kit is also on the checklist.
I know different grain rounds have different pressures so will buy a bunch of different loads but break it in with cheaper ball 115. You think I’m on the right track?

Did you polish all your parts? I mean all of them, including the polymer part of the frame where the slide rides.
Get you some assorted Emory paper on Amazon that ranges from 120-3000 grit.
Start off with 320 grit and barely use pressure on your metal rails, and trigger assembly parts. Move on up to 3000 grit to get a nice smooth as butter polished finish.
Then grease that sucker up and cycle it by hand over and over and over until your arms can't take any more. You will notice a huge difference on your slide fitment and how easy it is to rack to the back and let go with no hangup.
If you're having tight trigger pull problems, you might wanna check out the area where your trigger bar sits right next to the rear drop in rail on the right side. Alot of the time the rear rail needs to be grinded down some, and in some cases hammered down on the top so that the flat rails on each side are perfectly aligned with your front rail. By hammering them down, that will slightly bend the U shaped housing and give more clearance.
Remember this isn't an AR build where you can just mill and drill as fast as you can and everything works perfect. ARs are designed to run with a wide tolerance range.
      Pistols not so much 😅

@@jeromyralston5400 Check your slide release spring. If it is not under the top trigger pin or if the spring is too far to the right the tension is reversed, making the force go upward instead of downward, hence why when the slide is back the release instantly pops up to catch it regardless if there is a mag in or not. I had this same problem before.
