    Here's my not-so-quick take on Cobratec knives: I like them, they're quite well-made, the value and quality are there, I think they're great. And they fit my budget. My budget does not allow me to indulge in Microtech knives or any of their high-end competitors, I simply will not spend $300 for a knife. So, enter Cobratec. Quite possibly FABRICATED in China, and assembled here in the states.
    ...Which some of us don't like...but face it, if Cobratecs were 100% produced in our country, they'd be much more expensive. What concerns me more than where they're made is HOW they're made, what kind of quality control standards are kept. And with Cobratec, their standards seem to be consistent and quite high. So, to me, that makes Cobratec knives a truly great value. And, Cobratec's D2 steel is pretty doggoned good too. I'm a believer in Cobratec!

    I’ve carried mine for 3 years and taken it apart once for cleaning. I oil it regularly and it’s been on the money and kept a good blade all this time. I’m sure every knife company is gonna have a bad one every once in a while but I’m actually looking to buy another one.

    Kind of an impressive video. I own one D2 steel Cobra Tec Karambit. I also own a two Microtech OTFs and just bought a Heretic Knives Hydra. I have heard Heretic is really a Microtech subsidiary. The things I like about my Cobra Tec and Heretic is that they both have screws I can take off for maintenance. Where as with my Microtechs, you need special bits that seem to never be in stock.

    They have lifetime warranties , just activate it it’ll tell you how on the card and then use it and get a new knife . The warranty card comes with every cobratec knife I would know I have 3 so far and plan on getting more

    Good video! CobraTec knives have a Lifetime warranty. Why don't you contact them?! The problem is if they notice you had opened it yourself, it may void the warranty. Anyway, contact them

    • @kinggc3674

      Doesn't void the warranty. They told me themselves and I sent in a knife in pieces after opening it to test the warranty. Not a single but from them their warranty is like Vortex

    The one I got was OK at the store. But then after only a day or two the switch got stiff so I opened it up .that was a challenge. Lol but one screw head stripped out so I drilled it out .but I stretched the spring and put it back together it working go now. I took a screw from a cheap box cutter to fill the hole .some blue lock tight. All is well...

    I carry the Special Forces in D2 with a black handle and absolutely love it.. No issues whatsoever.. In fact, my next will be the Denali in 154CM and the Mini Mamba in D2.. Great otf knife company, so don't let the wannabe Microtech kool-aid drinkers try to assuage you in not doing so.

    • @findingmovement5824
      @findingmovement5824 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no kidding. while learning about otf's i def found an elite'ist side of the community who offer no info on small brands and instead say they are junk haha #nohate just my view as of now

    • @sergemaster
      @sergemaster ปีที่แล้ว

      @findingmovement5824 you hit the nail right on the head! I mean, if one wants to go out and purchase a microtech right outta the gate, God bless them. But if you want to slowly take your time and treasure to decide if OTF works, then there's nothing wrong starting with a lesser brand.. Plus, half the haters don't even carry an OTF, do to their states knife laws..

    So I had a guy take a look at mine to make it so that the blade would come out smoothly every time again. (It would not retract every time as smoothly as it once did)
    Anyways, he had informed me that my knife is needing a replacement spring in order for it to function properly again. I checked the Cobratec website and they didn't have replacement springs as an option of parts to order. Do you have any suggestions? I'm going to use your video for guidance while attempting to figure it out without messing it up further.

    • @DirtbagOutdoors
      @DirtbagOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Without seeing it, it's hard to say. The spring seems pretty solid and unlikely you need a new one. Have you tried oiling it and adjusting the tension on the screws that hold it all together?

    • @bestjobieverhad9584
      @bestjobieverhad9584 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lifetime warranty. Register your knife. They're pretty good...

    • @EveryDayPreppersUSA
      @EveryDayPreppersUSA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you register for the warranty, you do not need to order Springs, they are all covered under the Life Time Warranty.
      Just like in this video, this guy did not need to talk bad about Cobratec as it is under warranty would have ben fixed without question.
      No matter what OTF you have, screws have to be applied evenly and you also have to reassemble correctly which he did not do. All OTFs will get pocket lint and dirt in them. Cobratec is the only I know that offers a warranty even if you take the knife apart and wipe it down.
      We have 4 and I have never oiled any, I just wipe them down and clean the tracks once a year.

    If you're going to carry a large OTF in your front pocket, it's best to make sure you don't carry any loose change or any other lil bs in there with it. It will work it's way in and jam you up.

    • @Hateknot5974
      @Hateknot5974 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a Kershaw Livewire I stopped caring bc of loose change, dimes.
      I really like how handy a otf knife is and thought for the price I’d try cobratec.
      I can’t say enough good about it. I have the zombie green one and while I can’t say it stays sharp as long as the magnacut blade in the livewire, it stays sharp a good while and after some pretty harsh use.
      Come to think, maybe it stays sharp longer than the magnacut seeing how I didn’t get to use it bc I’d have to open it up about 25% of the time.

    usually because it's just filthy inside and you've gummed it up with all that crap that you put in there.
    the best thing to put in an OTF is nothing once it's good and clean.

    if that tiny steel detent that holds the blade in comes loose or isnt popped in straight it will pinch the blade upon deployment and also when you put an edge on them you need to wipe the blade clean, they are built with tight tollorences, a grain of sand will stop it dead in its track, i carry one every day, and i own a few microtecs and infidel/mini infidel , shootout, cobratec is a great rig for the $$$, seems like your blade is bent tho. repacments are 39.99 from c.tec.

  • @alexstrong20
    @alexstrong20 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got one of these and had the same problem. What I found using my slow mo feature on my iPhone is that when the grind edge on the blade glides against the top L shaped “hook” for the spring, it gives just enough resistance to keep the blade from locking open. When the top two screws are loose or taken out, it allows that hook enough room to push back when the grind edge comes in contact with it.

    You get what you pay for I guess. I suggest trying one of their premium lineup OTFs instead of the poor man’s models. I have the special edition Large Enforcer in M390 steel blade. The QC and action on the Enforcer model is phenomenal. Definitely worth the extra bills. In my opinion it’s just as good if not better than the Microtech Ultratech.

    • @jayandrusiak
      @jayandrusiak ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Poor man’s model? It’s a $100 knife it should work flawlessly for that price. Maybe US companies are overcharging for simple tools, if I can buy a revolver for $200 a simple little spring knife should be $50
