Kevin Spacey performance in this is some of the best acting shit i have ever seen. He says like 50 words in this movie and his actual time on screen is like 2 minutes and yet i loved every second of that. Just absolutely briliant. Also love the fact his name was not present in the opening or anywhere before the movie premiere. You would not hide such a huge thing these days. I will also never get "LUST" out of my head. It's making me both both mentally and physically uncomfortable maybe more than anything. Turning something so pleasant and beautiful into such a nightmare. I can't even imagine the pain that woman had to go through. It makes seriously sick. And i'm fuckin Guy🤣 Imagine if i was a woman. Also i too figured out it's Gwyneth's head in the box and i kinda loved Gwyneth so i felt Pitt's pain. Plus can you imagine finding out she was pregnant in "this" situation. God i would revive Mengele to do experiments on Spacey. Bullet to the head was too easy way out. And the fact that in this movie the bad guy actually wins is so fresh. I wish i saw this like a decade or two ago. It's still amazing but nothing is timeless. I love things like this. Slow paced pitch dark dramas. Love Fincher's style. You gotta try "Mindhunter". It's a Netflix series. And it's absolutely breathtaking. It's crime drama about psychological study of serial killers. It's dark, it's slow, it has uncomfortable atmoshpere, brilliant script and dialogs. AND insanely good casting of the murderers.

I can’t watch that stuff alone. Off the top of my head, I’d recommend “In Bruges.” Ever seen it? It’s an “indie” flick that stars Ralf Fiennes, Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson who should be familiar to you two. It’s a dark comedy with a unique story & dark humor that is really greater than the sum of its parts. It’s really good & underrated. Definitely check it out.
Chekhov's gun: If a gun is on the wall in Act I, it must be used by the end of Act III. Alternatively, if a gun is used in Act III, it must be seen in Act I or II. Occam's Razor: All things being equal, the explanation with the fewest assumptions is usually the best one. and a new one to many people... Hanlon's Razor: Don't attribute actions to malice when incompetence or mistake will suffice.
Her forgetting what Checkov's Gun is and thinking its Occam's Razor is a running gag so far. She still hasn't figured it out and probably won't even after reading this. Haha
I know you're most likely joking or exaggerating but that's not how law or justice works. If that were the case most criminals could walk free because they had 'good reason' for doing their crime. It's a dangerous game to wave some crimes away as some sort of street justice. That's not how anything works. Might as well get rid of prison and courts and just appeal to the emotions of the jury in that case.
This city really is inspired by Gotham City . In a Q and A session , director David Fincher said that he wanted to call it Gotham City and even asked for permission but DC denied .
I saw this at the cinema when I was 18. Damn it messed me up. I was a huge horror nerd but this one shook me. Still great for a rewatch 25 years later.
One of my all time favorites. The atmosphere is so fucking perfect something about it gets me nostalgic everytime ha. Wifey w/ the top tier commentary she's hilarious as usual.
She knew about the ending. She probably heard about it over the years. No one ever got the ending. You also hear that his wife tried to call him when Kevin Spacey was turning himself into the police. No one ever got that ending. She heard about it over the years. The movie is 27 years old. Plus, she admitted that she’s wanted to see this for sometime. One of her friends told her or she overheard it.
Lol it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. I've never heard a singular spoiler about this movie before I watched it for the first time yesterday, and I figured it out by the time they were in the car and John was saying Mills would be famous. Add up the short run time remaining, very few characters that the movie had introduced, and the fact that David will be famous. It took all the suspense out of it for me, which kind of ruined it for me.
Occam's Razor - the simplest solution is the best, the simplest explanation is the most probably correct. Checkov's gun - if there is a gun on the scene in the first part of the play, somebody must fire it by the end of the play.

A friend of mine had a watch party for the Oscars, late nineties, and she invited me over. I hadn't been to a watch party since 1969. I was intrigued and I mounted my bicycle and got to the party, already in session. Kevin Spacey was onscreen and was hosting? 2 minutes of Kevin and I was out, I left the party. Why did you leave? asked my friend. Kevin creeps me out, I told her.

I even like his version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Panic Room is an underrated gem imo too
Fincher is great - but what I've learned this year from going down the Taylor Sheridan rabbit hole... it's not always the director in whether a movie is great or not - they're just the ones that get all the credit and awards or take all the blame, it all begins with the writer.
9:35 The dreary crime ridden city, the themed exotic crimes. I remember thinking the same thing, Gotham City, 10+ years ago. Then I saw Film Theory made a vid linking all kinds of detail I didn't even think about. The city is never named or referenced on any badge or sign, the crooked guy who gave them the library info was a crooked cop in Nolan's trilogy. On and on. Idk how intentional but it's fun so therefore it's clearly Gotham before Batman. th-cam.com/video/aZ_8HvUWNRs/w-d-xo.html

This movie is in my top ten greatest movies of all time. Whenever I see the ending I remember the movie commentary. Fincher and Pitt were doing the commentary. In that last scene where Brad pushes the gun against Spacey's head, he gives a quick glance off-camera. Brad said Spacey was pissed he shoved the gun against his head so hard so he gave Fincher a look. Knowing what we know about Spacey now, good going Brad.
One more: If you want to see another great Pit movie that also stars Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones, you guys should react to SNATCH, a British Crime-Comedy in the vein of Lock, Stock, and Two-Smoking Barrels.
20:09 The story’s location doesn’t specify NYC. It’s more like a Gotham. It was shot in Los Angeles. I live in CA and believe it or not there are some gritty areas of downtown LA which are wayyy different than say the Hollywood or Santa Monica area. Also the rain in the film is totally real. El Niño was brutal the year they shot it. With the ending - from LA, you can get inland (Central Valley) where it’s desert-y like that in less than 2 hours. Assuming you don’t hit traffic LOL. Great channel you have, folks. So good!
That theory about Spacey's character being in both this and Usual Suspects... No way, I don't see it. They are two totally different characters. Something must have went really, catastrophically wrong in Verbal's life to bring him to the place he is in in Seven. The only way I can see it happening is if he underwent the reprograming treatment that Alex went through in A Clockwork Orange, and it went REALLY bad.
"Buffalo Bill" was in Silence of the Lambs (and a Western legend), but "Wild Bill" refers to Wild Bill Hickok, who is a totally different person from that era.
Occam's Razor is the easiest explanation is usually the correct one. It's used & found in both scientific areas and philosophical areas of study. I learned more about basic physics, mathematics, and those areas when I took Ancient to modern Philosophy in college courses. They had an understanding of our world in ancient philosophy that is used today.
I think the razor meaning is 'the most likely explanation is usually the actual explanation' ie: If you hear hoof steps in central park, it's most likely a horse and not a zebra.
The guy in the booth at the massage parlor was Michael Massee. He played Funboy in The Crow and he was the guy that accidentally shot Brandon Lee. On a separate note, look up the seven heavenly virtues. They are basically the opposite of the seven deadly sins.

I am going to say it loud and proud that yes, me and my bedroom acquaintance have fallen asleep cuddled up like that. We rarely wake up that way but we've fallen asleep together.
I was just thinking about the idea of Chekhov's Gun the other day. Anton Chekhov's most famous quote is "If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there." It's basically that if something isn't necessary don't show it because it offers false promise to the audience. Your general audience probably doesn't worry about it too much but once you're familiar with the concept it's much easier to spot. Everyone uses it. The not quite great writers/directors give the game away by making it super obvious. Your top writers/directors know that audiences are far more savvy to these things so they have to figure out ways to do it without looking like they're setting something up for later. It's an interesting thing to keep in mind when watching films or TV.
This is the first time I've seen someone predict it this well. Never heard of that theory between Usual Suspects and Seven. Does not seem to fit at all to me.
Oh come on, she ain't psychic. She has seen it before like in many of their videos. Typical narcissistic TH-cam idiots trying to look clever. Wake up people.😴😴😴😴😴😴😴
Another great mystery movie with Kevin Spacey, Russel Crowe, and Guy Pearce is "L.A. Confidential" (1997). It won two Academy Awards for best screenplay and best actress.
Have you seen "The Guard"? One of the first scenes of the movie is (very likely) a joke about/reference to this movie. If not, you should watch it, it is hilarious. Anyway, good reaction. And I am also enjoying your reaction to the first season of Dexter, great job!
Nearly every man would pull the trigger. You can try to sell yourself on the idea that you wouldn't, but you're lying to yourself. That's the genius of the scenario. Spacey's character is right to be so smug; there wasn't any realistic chance of the plan failing.

Mindhunter is fantastic! And was lust the worst murder in a movie ever?
“I like murderers.”😆🤣😂 I never thought I’d ever be watching videos of reactions to movies yet here I am. You guys seem authentic, genuine, & kind. You’re a nice couple too. The videos are great. I’ll have to see if they are any flicks that you haven’t seen that I can recommend. I know you’ve seen Snatch which I love & also the Conjuring. I’m like her when it comes to horror.
I think the Sloth jump scare went down as one of the scariest jump scares in movie history.
Haha
@@YouMeTheMovies
Occam's Razor would suggest then that she is feigning ignorance to maintain a comedic conceit.
Haha. I wish she were that clever. She's just really forgetful.
I'm pretty sure any jury that sat on that case would return a verdict of "Detective Mills did nothing wrong."
@@kevtb874 Though in Texas, if someone is on your property and you kill them and claim you had reason, the jury will say "not guilty."
@@kevtb874 Appeal to the emotions of the jury: OJ's lawyers did exactly that, and the jury ignored the DNA evidence.
'The Usual Suspects' is well worth a watch. It's a great ensemble cast, a well-written script, with good pacing and a nice twist at the end.
It's on our list to watch soon. :)
Did you just bring an Occam's Razor to a Chekhov's Gun fight? I believe that's against the Murphy's Law. Best. Leo.
Hahaha! YES!
Gonna have to consider whether that's in line with Pascal's Wager...
Occam's razor: the simplest explanation is usually the best one.
Not exactly sure what specific city it is but not too many cities in this country have elevated subway trains so that might be a clue.
Check out "Fight Club".....it's a David Fincher direction with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.....can't go wrong there!
You BROKE THE FIRST TWO RULES
@@tonyyul703 wouldn't ya know it, my actual name is Robert Paulson.
You are GIFTED at for seeing the upcoming plot. Right from the beginning. Good for you.
She asks the questions we all asked in Theaters 26 years ago.. I was there and kept rewatching.. Love this channel.. FYI, I have that t shirt in white
I love this movie! I love you both. I subscribed a couple months ago and I've been watching your videos. Love the Lost reactions!
Occam's Razor - the simplest solution is the best, the simplest explanation is the most probably correct. Checkov's gun - if there is a gun on the scene in the first part of the play, somebody must fire it by the end of the play.
First of me encountering your channel folks, only halfway through but had to tip my hat to you Sir for your statement, "round here people come to help".
How decency is displayed. Cheers from Scotland.
Cheers, buddy.
One of the two alternate endings had Morgan Freeman's character shoot John Doe so John didn't win.
glad they didn't use that one, it stinks
The ending scene of "What's in the BOOOOOX?" has been used as a meme, great for anytime someone receives a box of something.
i just recently found this channel and i absolutely love you guys!
Glad you are enjoying. Welcome to the family!
My grandma had those Franciscan Apple dishes too.
this is a truly powerful and chilling film....but I have never been able to watch it again because of the ending.
Yep that's something ive been told.
if you're in trouble or under attack in an alley way or something, Scream Fire.
People are curious about fire and will come looking, They stay away from help. no one cares for help.
hell, just put every Fincher film ever on the List lol. loooove me some David Fincher. started with Nine Inch Nails music videos and Alien 3 (which technically doesn't count lol) and just kept banging out masterpiece after masterpiece.

"oooh, he's been dead a while.."
Hee hee *gets excited for the reveal*
Most people think of sloth as lazy but in reality it is more doing something you prefer over something you are supposed to. When the list was first written and they discussed sloth they were talking about the feeling of boredom and wanting to do something else when they were doing their noon day prayers.
My favorite serial killer films. Se7en, silence of the lambs, American psycho, mr. Brooks, and taking lives.
Mrs Movies is adorable!! For someone who doesn’t watch these kind of movies she called 2 things in it!! I never figured it was her head. Too caught up in the world. Love your guys’ interchanges
This movie ranked at #26 in the 100 scariest movie moments on Bravo
You’re better than I am, that ending was a complete twist to me when I saw it.
It's a great film, even knowing the big reveal at the end. I think Morgan Freeman deserved the Oscar.
One more:
If you want to see another great Pit movie that also stars Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones, you guys should react to SNATCH, a British Crime-Comedy in the vein of Lock, Stock, and Two-Smoking Barrels.
Love when she says 'Hey There' to Brad :)
Damn I didn't realize how long ago this was. Gwyneth Paltrow was 23?! That means I was 15. Time fliess :( lol
They are basically the opposite of the seven deadly sins.
i was 23 when i saw this movie and for some reason it really messed with my head, No Pun Intended! i think the ending disturbed me knowing they were going to have a family and that she didn't really have anything to do with the case. besides, i couldn't imagine seeing a loved ones head in a box!!
I had the same reactions throughout the movie; a wife’s suspicious and intuitive mind at work. 🕵️♀️
I believe that it irritates my hubs when I think out loud and am right too. 😂
Pleasure watching one of my favs with you guys. 👊
My favorite scene will always be the car ride to wrath.
I am going to say it loud and proud that yes, me and my bedroom acquaintance have fallen asleep cuddled up like that. We rarely wake up that way but we've fallen asleep together.
That train/sub going by always reminds me of the 12 Angry Men movie. Don't know if you two saw it though...
If I remember correctly in the book it states that the city is New York
Wow, well done, Mrs Movies! You called it!
It's an interesting thing to keep in mind when watching films or TV.
love theses older movies growing up easy to predict but what a ride they are.
edit: also what's in the box was said so many times lol
This is my favorite movie. The scene in the car was perfect 👌
You two are an amazing couple. Keep it up.
Thank you! Will do!
This is the first time I've seen someone predict it this well.
Never heard of that theory between Usual Suspects and Seven. Does not seem to fit at all to me.
I was surprised she got it so fast as well.
I’m really surprised how much she got right. Back in 95 when this came out NOBODY was able to figure out this movie!!! 👏🏻
Yeah, the character in Usual Suspects is really nothing like John Doe at all.
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks agreed. This is the first time I'd heard that theory but I don't see it myself.
We've had a lot of recommendations to watch that. It's on our list to knock out some day. Thanks! :D
3:40 Does anyone sleep like that cuddled together hahahaha… oh bless
Have you seen "The Guard"? One of the first scenes of the movie is (very likely) a joke about/reference to this movie. If not, you should watch it, it is hilarious. Anyway, good reaction. And I am also enjoying your reaction to the first season of Dexter, great job!
You want to see Silent Hill 2006. You'll see barbed wire used much more horrifically. P.S. Would luv to see you react to Interview with the Vampire.
His reaction during the "what's in the box?!!" Scene is how I feel Everytime getting the taco bell 5.00 value meal......
Everyone pretends not to like Taco Bell.
.........My Favorite response from her..."Aye Caramba".........Laugh every time she says it
Nearly every man would pull the trigger. You can try to sell yourself on the idea that you wouldn't, but you're lying to yourself. That's the genius of the scenario. Spacey's character is right to be so smug; there wasn't any realistic chance of the plan failing.
I'd rather he rot in jail knowing his plan failed than to give him a quick end. That would be justice in every way.
Your wife reaction to brad pitt and your response was soo funny
She’s way too smart, well done figuring it all out.
She is very smart but even I knew about the big reveal well before I ever watched it. It's one of the worst kept secrets in movies.
I think you guys would like The Bone Collector. Similar creepy mystery vibes
David Finch was Known for directing Music videos for the music group The Cure before getting hired to direct Alien 3, I hated Alien 3 but love Alien 4.
A lot of tools you would think to find in a serial killer's dungeon would seem like, 'yeah, they WOULD have that;' But a hand planer? EEEESH.
Pretty sure Kevin Spacey does this regularly in reality too.
I envy your little Crow and Tom Servo.
