Oops, accidentally brushed over how to use TexMod. Here you go:
1. Click the folder under the phrase "Target Application"
2. Look for Batman: Arkham Asylum's exe (shippingpc-bmgame.exe) and click 'open'
3. To load the additional textures, click the folder located to the right of the text "Package Name"
4. Locate and select the 'Additional_Textures.tpf' file (should be under 'Binaries' if you followed the tutorial all the way through. if not, it will be under 'Asylum Reborn - Extra\Additional Textures' which is packed with the HD Texture Pack install.)
If everything went as directed "ADDITONAL_TEXTURES" will pop up under the "Package Name" box.
5. Click run

Over 3 months of scrapping, re-editing, re-recorded voice overs, doubt, perfectionism has lead to this moment... the final release of this video. This was truly a labor of love. I have learned so much from this project and I'm proud of how it turned out. Of course, there are still tons of nitpicks within the walls of this video that nobody will ever notice and that's completely fine (such as the mouse not lining up with where the clicks are. Shout out to Nvidia ShadowPlay. Also, the mic pop issue is kinda of annoying but ITS OKAY).

So uh when i click "run" in TexMod it opens the Advanced Launcher instead of the game, and i end up in a loop
Update: Ok so i did it again and it worked now, it might have been because i didn't actually open the game before installing the mods
1x mssa not supported by the target GPU?
when i press run it just does a loading circle as my cursor and then nothing 😅

You are the best! Unfortunately I experience the same/similar issue when using the textmod (shippingpc-bmgame.exe and 'Additional_Textures.tpf):

1. Do I need to launch the game once before any modding? (as @BrunoSantos-jp1lv suggests)?
2. ReShade install (Other than the described steps 7:27 there is no need for any other steps, right? No download of "ReShade 6.1.1"... is needed right?)

To anyone looking into doing this now, the hex editing for the PC ports of the PS3 DLC has been automated with the addition of a patch that can be found on the Asylum Reborn steam guide.
Too bad it just currently endless loops
hell yeah! saw the patch very recently. you just essentially skip that entire hex edit portion.
I've noticed a couple of people have the same niggling isue I have. Whenever text appears on screen the brightness goes up then back down when the on screen text disappears. I tried the advice in the trobleshooting (disabling MXAO and enabling HBAO).
Is there another fix at all?
EDIT - I think I've just fixed it. Turn off Anti-Aliasing in the Advanced Graphics of the advanced launcher if you're using Reshade (as per the advice on the launcher).
Holy shit dude god bless you i couldnt for the life of me figure out how to use hex edit i tired using the Microsoft free to use hex editors and they sucked hxd actually works and its very easy to follow god bless you my man so happy right now i followed the directions and now it works!!!!

i know this video is a year old, but i got some questions here and there, first: do these mods interfire on steam achievements? and also is there a way to put translation in this game, i understand english just fine, but im willing to stream and not everebody knows it
oh and sorry to go on but do you think you could get something fixed with the advanced launcher for both Asylum and City, the launchers don't let you bind one action to two keys like the original launcher does. Thank you in advance!

Im having a problem...every time i try to start the game it shows me that i must install some missing frameworks and when i click in "yes" for "sownload now" nothing happens. Also my microsoft netframework is up to date... what should i do?

It does appear that the advance launcher is not broken though. Keybindings do not work and settings revert often. Trying to troubleshoot now.
Awesome video, but one question. In texmod, do we select additional textures in the Binaries folder or in the Asylum Reborn folder?
wherever the file is, just select it.

Thanks for this easy to follow tutorial man. Kind of a shame the modding scene for Asylum isn't bigger, though maybe modding Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas just made me think that'd be how it'd be for every game lol
the ReShade menu button dosent work for me... any ides how can i activate it?
Everything worked fine for a while, but when I get to the ScareCrow intro cutscene where Batman is coming out of the elevator the game crashes after about 2-3 seconds as the camera raises from Batman's feet. The error says "Rendering Thread Exception: I/O Failure Operating on 'Unknown File.' Is this related to Hex Editor?
hmmm. do you have any other files installed or have you tinkered with the files before installing asylum reborn? sounds like something corrupted.
@@VeryThickBoy I believe something did, I verified the files and it worked, I had freshly installed Asylum and did Reborn before even playing it on this install. It worked after verifying the files but I had to set up Advanced launcher again. Just fixed it this morning

personally I don't really like the changes made on the Return To Arkham Remaster bundle especially for Arkham Asylum so this is exactly what I've been looking for & what the actual remaster should have been, plus the playable Joker DLC from PS3 is also a great addition for someone like me who now has a PC but originally had Arkham Asylum on the Xbox 360 so I missed out on that & PS4 doesn't have the game with that PS3 exclusive DLC & I'm not willing to go back & buy a PS3 for 1 game so this is a GOD SEND! Hi, new pc user/modder here, I've been following your vid closely and made good progress up until the 4k cutscenes. I get an error code (0x80004005) when I put the movie folder in the directory, and it seems like that for every file in the 3 folders.
I"m a windows 11 user, don't know if that means anything about this problem...

Don't know if anyone is still reading these comments or ran into this same issue, but I'm almost positive this happens because you're not using a program like WinRar or 7-Zip to unzip your files. I tried doing the same thing he does in the video using 7-Zip instead of just dragging and dropping the files and it worked just fine.
I tried it following step by step but when I failed the process I tried to revert everything but now I’m missing game files so do you know how to reinstall the original game and it’s files?

I love your video however I have a problem. Every time I go through the texmod I get "shit happens D'OH. I've looked at everything I could and I can't find anything other than a anti-virus program (which I don't have) or running it through administrator (which I tried).

hm. which version of the game are you installing the mod onto (epic games, steam, gog, etc.)? my recommendation would be to start from scratch: reinstall the game or verify the games files.
Does this function well in Linux distros considering the experimental support?

yeah, no current way to adjust hud size. maybe with UPK unlocker it might be a possibility. keep your eye out.
When I try to run from texmod it shows an error "rendering thread exception..." I never got this error while running the game normally but after following this guide I can't even launch the game without this error popping.

might be either tex mod acting up or the ‘shadow coverage’ setting bug. take a look at the troubleshooting part of guide cus that might be your answer.

I have the screen changing every time changing light and dark (like a blink). Is it because of the shader?
possibly, not sure. check the steam guide for information about troubleshooting. my other suggestion would be to wipe the game and start from scratch (that would get rid of any corrupted files).
Hi, installing everything was fine except for the Reshade Presets mod, I did the same thing you did, but every time I try to launch the game while having the reshade mod, the game doesn't launch and I get an error message "rendering thread exception". But if a remove only the reshade mod and run the game with the other mods I installed from this video, the game works fine. Can anyone help me?
Guyss I found a fix, after installing the Reshade mod the problem seems to be that the d3d9.dll file is giving conflicts. I got a different d3d9.dll file and replaced it, and it worked

For some reason TexMod doesn't select the target application and package by itself. I tried reinstalling the game and did everything from scratch but it still doesn't work or do I have to select it manually each time, also for some reason ambient occlusion is greyed out for me

probably the shadow cascade bug thing. try turning down your shadow settings. check the guide for more info on it.

How can I change the subtitle size in the game?
Hello, I did everything you said, but at the last step before launching, when I chose Additional Textures on the Tex Mod, and run it afterwards, there's a message that says "Failed to find default engine .ini file to retrieve My Documents subdirectory to use. Force quitting." Can you help me please ? This is a fantastic tutorial by the way.
PS : I met some controls problems for the keyboard (when I press Z instead of going frontward it zooms in) and apparently the only solution would be to delete the Config folder ? Also I can't find a way to change the game's language.
Something might have happened when you tried to install the game. I'd recommend starting from scratch (verifying your game files on Steam or reinstalling the game) and reinstall all of the mods.

Followed everything minutiously like you explained. Not only did it not launch (error message was something like "General protection... couldn't find files", now without the mods the game isn't launchable either. It corrupted something very deep in the Nvidia files I have yet to find. :/ Already reinstalled the game twice (deleted the whole thing).

So im not the tech savy type and heavily rely on videos like this to get me from point A to point B through Z. I was unable to drop the 4K cutscene folders and replace the existing ones due to an error message. How am i able to bypass this and get them? Please help, thank you.
what's the error message? if it asks you to "overwrite existing files" click yes.
