So crazy a 5”9 light weight fighting a 6”1 light heavyweight. Was a competitive fight as well. Shows how good BJ was at one point. I wish he didn’t fuck up his record so much towards the end.

@@Laquintainnroom217not just the height. It’s more abt the reach AND most importantly weight. Lyoto has a signification reach and weight advantage. The guy was a 205er who prolly walked around 225-230 ish. BJ was a 55er who walks around somewhere around 180. Lyoto was significantly much larger yet it was still an extremely close fight, arguably BJ could’ve won it. That’s what makes it super impressive.
whats crazier is pre sure machida became LHW champ 2years after that fight. always said if khabib just had half the sack bj penn did we wouldve saw great great things.
Lyoto will forever be a humble, respectful, world class man, fighter, and champion. I loved watching his fights and when he knew his opponent was done, he would never follow up with any unnecessary punches he would kneel and wait to make sure they were okay. Thank you for years of entertainment and what you’ve done for the sport
