    Did same to my S80 2.9...Too bad the ETM was goner :(
    740 euros for new Etm (changed it my self)
    car wouldn't start so had to tow it to nearest place that can reprogram it: 70 euros
    Spent more money fixing this god damn thing than i paid for it about half a year ago XD

      eskon12345 what was the problem with you car...because i got it a volvo s80 with the problem .work but only 1,500 rpm
      No accelerate more..if you haven the same problem May be..you can helpme with my problem...

    • @eskon12345
      @eskon12345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My problem was similar Revved to like 2500rpm and no power, 40-50km/h on flat ground.
      Bought and changed new etm and got the car towed to nearest Volvo dealership where they reprogrammed the ETM. After that the car worked normal
      Can't be sure if its the same problem, i would advise taking the car to nearest Volvo dealership (where they do repairs) and get it checked out

    I have a question for you I have a 1999 Volvo V70 FWD 2.4L Base non turbo,can you tell me if I have a Idle Air control valve the ETS light keeps coming on? I disconnected battery it stays off a bit comes right back on? Thank you if you or anyone can Help me Rob?

    • @tomb70
      @tomb70 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Component failure lights happen when there is a voltage change outside of tolerance. (The part still works but its going bad) When you disconect the battery the computer will forget its logged data.(all the bad voltages) As you drive it again it will re-analyze its components and log failures.(noticing bad voltage tollerances and turning on lights)
      Best advice is replace ETS, it sounds like a common volvo problem.

      I'm thinking about replacing mine or taking it off and cleaning it because I put some aftermarket parts on it. She's really pulling but it almost has 300,000 miles on it and it keeps going in the lymph node now

    • @JS-jq8pu
      @JS-jq8pu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dereknichols3921 Please note that not only the ETM could be the issue for 'pulling'. I had an issue with the tensioner being broken, which causes the distribution belt to be loose and therefore was 'pulling'

      Very late reply but you'll have to get the bracket at the rear of the starter off to pull the cable out from behind the starter

      @@Aristas-zd5vd so people shouldn't title videos and we should watch them all hoping to eventually get to the details about the contents?

    • @Aristas-zd5vd
      @Aristas-zd5vd ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swank1975 @Swank1975 never said people shouldn't title videos. I do agree he should have specified the model, but if you know anything about anything when it comes to these p2 volvos you would know they only come in a few different configurations. Besides, its pretty redundant to specify the exact engine as the modular i5 in these models share the same ETM. Also, if you were truly looking for advice on how to complete the repair, you probably would be willing to struggle through an 11 min video and not be complaining about the semantics of titling the video to fit your preference.
