  • G'day, everyone! In today's video, I'll show you how I make my nutrient solution from scratch. The formula I use helps strengthen indoor plants against pests, kills fungus gnats, whilst also fertilising the plants for strong and healthy growth!
Connect with me on Instagram - / petevsplant
Check out my eBay store - www.ebay.com.au/usr/petevsplants
    Ingredients:
    1. Professor's Original A+B Hydroponics Solution 5L each
    2. THC Total Horticultural Concentrate Silica 1L
    3. CX Tanlin 20ml
    4. Manutec Hydroponic pH Lower 600ml
I use this nutrient solution for all of my indoor plants whether they're in soil, passive hydro / semi-hydro, leca, pon, etc. etc. It's a useful one-size-fits-all that I use with every watering.

I'm really sorry to hear that, mate. It sounds like he had a very long life, though, which I'm sure he was grateful for. ❤ Glad it cheered you up.

What was extra funny was that when you were doing the chicken dance, TH-cam decided a KFC ad would be appropriate 🐔🤣

8:10 if you adjust your ph first it requires less of the ph adjuster. For example you used 5 drops but if you pre adjusted you would only need 2 or 3 drops to get the same ph.

Hey Pete, that scared me when you cut yourself! I hope you are alright! I know you are a man of science so, I would suggest using monosilicic acid instead of potassium silicate. Basically the difference is that the single molecule version is immediately available to the plant where as the salt needs to be broken down over time by bacteria because it is not able to be used in that form. If you are doing semi-hydro i wouldn't even bother with the silica product because you will change the solution before any is broken down into a form usable by the plant. You can find many online, although i wouldn't recommend using both as when the silica starts to break down it could antagonize your nutrient regime.
From what I understand monosilicic acid is the nutrient that will help your plant absorb more calcium and thus all other nutrients in the uptake chain. (if this makes no sense - look up BIOCHEMICAL SEQUENCING OF NUTRIENTS, this will tell you about the nutrient uptake sequence and antagonism)
You will add the Si first to the nutrient solution and let it bond with the water before adding anything else. Feel free to reply and i can give you some more information or the things i use, i got all my friends onto super si and great white myco and we have seen really amazing results. love the videos!

Not sure how I missed this vid, must have been on the boat!
Any feedback on silica use order? I’ve been told by the hydro folks to add your silica first and let it sit for 20-30 min before adding other nutrients. Silica can take time to mix, changes ph and can possibly bind up the nutrients. Not sure if that’s real or bro science, but I tend to add silica night before then nutrients and adjust ph before watering. I also add in Tribus once ph is adjusted. Try to help the plant fam use all those good extra nutrients. 😊

Love the chicken dance! Have you been using the silica & other product long enough to notice a difference in pests? I’ll be using it if it works for you. Thanks for sharing Pete!

It's hard to know as I haven't tested anything scientifically, but I think the rigour of some of my plants is definitely improved. One thing I've noticed is how healthy my M. adansonii Monkey Mask looks. It's a much deeper green colour than when I got it and almost has a velvety sheen to it.

Ok I thought silica always go in first and then you have to wait for 20 min. Then shake between each nutrients. At least that’s what I’ve learned.

Is your recipe used in Pon as well?

    • @petevsplants7516
      @petevsplants7516  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey Michelle, I've used it a few times with Pon, though I usually start with just water for a while whilst the slow release fertiliser does its job. Maybe every second top up I'll use some and just watch for nute burn.
