Applied the second weekly drench of Neem Cake Tea to the soil today. There aren't nearly as many Fungus Gnats in the greenhouse today as there were a week ago, maybe 1/3 as many, so the Neem Cake Tea has really reduced the ability of the larva reaching maturity.
Applied the third weekly drench of Neem Cake Tea yesterday, and saw no fungus gnats either on the soil or flying in the greenhouse. Will continue the application for two more weeks to ensure all larva are killed.
Thanks you for the video! Just did my first watering with neem tea solution. Two questions: 1) besides smell, is there any detrimental downside to letting neem cake soak for longer, even as long as 24 hours? I was considering letting it soak that long and then diluting it prior to watering. 2) is neem cake completely spent after making neem tea, or does it still have enough value for one more soak or as addition to garden soil?
Don't know if it would be as effective after it was allowed to ferment, as I haven't tried it. But, I would think the important thing is the smell of the Neem cake to mess with the hormones of the gnat, which would be destroyed in fermentation. After I make the Neem cake tea, I put the remaining solids in the soil for fertilizer.
No, it should all be used soon after it is made. If kept, it will ferment and develop quite an odor. It is best make just what is needed, and use while fresh.
New sub! I’m so happy to see someone else using Neem!! I didn’t know you could make a tea. Thank you so much for sharing this information.😊👍🏻🪴❤️. I use Neem oil, as a spray or a leaf cleanser and Neem meal (granules) which I sprinkle on my houseplants from time to time. They are both very effective.
It is hard to suggest one way over the other, but since the fungus gnats feed on the plant roots their numbers should decrease if the bed is empty. It might be worth the effort to do one treatment after the harvest to reduce the gnats laying more eggs which can go dormant in the soil until conditions are right for hatching.
I do the soil drench on a schedule rather waiting to the soil to dry or water it. Usually the top couple inches of the soil is dry, but it is moist down at the root level.

Is your raised bed exposed to rainfall?
No, that raised bed is inside the greenhouse.
Sometimes by just boiling neem leaves we can have neem tea. In my area neem trees are common. Just asking if we could use the tea from its leaves.
Hopefully someone will be able to answer. I don't have any access to Neem leaves, so have no knowledge of them.

Yes, it will not bother the seeds, and it adds some fertilizer to the soil.

No, it effectively kills the larva stage, but it does not affect the gnats since they do not eat anything.
