Great video brother, if you havent yet, you might enjoy checking out a similar game called Post Void. Much love brother!
The biggest selling point to me is that you can do multiple actions simultaneously without interruption. I hope more shooters follow this example, as it makes gameplay way more fun. Also, the fact that you can chug a life potion while kicking a guy in the face is just really funny.
It was one of the first things I confirmed. It feels so smooth. Drinking a soda, reloading, and kicking a door ALL at the same time.
I knew post void would be influential one day.
But damn this game cranked itup to 11
It's like a video game adaptation of Post Void...
This is the funniest PV mention I've seen so far.
@@DaiHachiHachi thanks bro
TANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Let's goooooo!!!! Insane difficulty on the roadmap!
I was already sold when you told me about the plot.
The gameplay just makes it so much better.
If I ever get my PC working again, I'm definitely picking this one up
So true.. there's nothing better than the classic story of saving a hot babe.
Don't care, Princess Peach hotter
The menu UI reminds me of arcade machines in a good way
Post Void, but anime. Gotcha
And with less bloom
Babe wake up new mayo video
I was looking for a new FPS to play. This is perfect! Thank you for the recommendation!
Oh I saw this on Civvie's round up, very interesting. Reminds me a little bit of an FPS Hotline Miami, and the 80's anime art style is definitely attractive.
I remember watching an early access review by, I believe, G-Man Lives, last year like 10 months ago. Ever since I've been waiting for it to come out. It looked awesome.
Another very well streamlined game. You have to check out Voin soon; there is currently only a playable demo available but it is once again right up your alley. The game is streamlined, makes good efforts to communicate the challenge and flows very well. The fact that it is made by a single developer is completely insane too.
The premise of this sounds like videogame version of retention editing
There was a game released around 2019 I think that was exactly that but with a much more chaotic art style. Can't remember how it was called tho.
Post Void
This game is so hard to look at
Played the hell outta the demo and I was part of the discord, looking for bugs. I can't wait to get out of work to finally play the finished version
I saw Jarek's review and thought to myself: this is definitely Mayo's type of game.
You were right!
Oh now this looks incredible. And colorful too
Wow that gameplay at the end looks so fun! I think I’ll check this out. 😊
Thank you for disabling the screen shake, it makes for a much better viewing experience on youtube!
Love your little mayo mascot! 😍
I played the demo during NextFest. It was sooooooo good! This game is frantic!
Looks badass!! The only thing missing is a Japanese VO and it’s PERFECT! Lol. Hopefully we see a console release in the future.
I think my favorite part of this game is not only does it expand upon the post void formula with world-building, story, and game design but it actively subverts it (the sign of a good evolution within a style of game) where post void was specifically about prioritizing speed/accuracy this game has that element but it looks like the streamer narrative allows for a good justification of style over accuracy which is just cool too see, especially since like you were saying the ability to perform multiple actions and the enemies/environments allow for two people to approach the game from different flows, whereas post void catered to one single playstyle, hopefully this translates to a wider adoption/mainstream appeal to this game. Even though the art, and theoretical justification for its existence is so geeky/academic, definitely GOTY contender fr.
Saw another guy on yt absolutely trashing this game... and he was absolutely terrible at playing it lol. Looks super fun.
What channel. I gotta see this.
Yo, what's the channel?
Sounds too hilarious to not watch.
Reminds me of the gaming journo playing Cuphead.
@@underthemayoDead Space 3 exists
cool!
not really a rogue fan, but the gameplay sounds neat.
Reminds me a lot of post void
awesome review, really helpful!
I mean, Hugo was right all along and you ARE a game designer after all!
The game looks really fun, thanks for the recommandation !
Thanks for the vid, this game is really fun to watch i cant wait to play it!
Man the game looks cool and fun but my epilepsy ass would die seeing so many effects on screen
So it's a game mode from Ghostrunner, made into a standalone game. With guns and deeper time-management system.
Yeah it was called Post Void
I would buy this game in a heartbeat, I got a soft spot for the art style but it being a roguelite just turns me away from it. I just hate being overly punished for dying and I like memorizing levels since if I am on a hard part my memory and anticipating the hard part is the only advantage I even got, it being unpredictable and cycling through level layouts just makes it hard what to predict, some find that appealing, I don't.
The difficulty options seem pretty cool, if I do even play the game, I might be a noob and play with no timer, but I just find the idea for being punished for death to be discouraging on a first time through.
Bro I played the demo and I loved it! I gotta buy a couple of other games for the channel at the moment but this is definitely one I'll get!
Get on iiiiiiit
You should check out the game REAVER, very similar to overkill.
Just came here to give the video a like , I'm gonna buy this first thing tomorrow .
needs a style meter
just got turbo overkill but this has just gone on the wish list untill next weekend
this is full tilt disrupting color madness.
Sorry, I've gotta save up for PO'd
This seems extremely fun mayo how much does it cost? And is it on a Xbox or PlayStation?
I think it's 20 bucks. And it's on console
It's getting to the point where so few games are released on consoles that it feels like we need Steam & Indie games to be available on consoles in order to keep them alive. I love the design & creativity of this game & I wish my PC was working. I only have my PS5 right now. I'm getting so frustrated because I've always been the biggest fan of gaming but it's impossible to not admit that the current landscape of console gaming is one of the lowest points we've ever seen in the modern video gaming era... It's gotta change. If any of these companies want to keep making money, they are going to have to reconnect to the core elements that found them success and popularity in the first place around the early 2000's.
This should be on console later this year.
Its giving me Bulletstorm mixed with Arena fps vibes. Seems sweet as hell
you add a timer in an arcadey game, i'm all in. you make the timer a core mechanic, i'm waiting the whole 9 months to dive right back in.
I definitely can’t wait to get off work and play this. Wait I gotta go to my second job. Never mind life is expensive… def gonna play this when I get a chance
Great vid, is there a demo I could try?
There was, I don't know if the demo is still up though...
The demo is up on steam
This is a sick game and a ton of fun. Nice review.
Is this the same developer of Post Void?
just a recommendation if your thinking of getting mullet madjack or want something like it. Get post void first its like 5 dollars on steam and some consoles (switch included) its got very very simaller mechnics and their isnt a way in hell mulet madjack isnt inspired by it, not to discredit it at all its an amazing game and builds on post void perfectly, but if you want a taster for mullet madjack get post void.
hmmm Deluxe edition for $26 USD is tempting. I almost never get special editions
It's just one of those games, where it. just. feel. so. good. to play.
There is a learning curve, and you will die. But it just doesn't matter. Endlessly running forward and killing those damn robots in various ways is just so good to enact, and feels so good to execute.
Also, being able to disable screen shake and flashes are very good and welcomed accessibility options.
Thank god! He didn't talk trash about ultrakill! Finally! Thank you mayo!
I'm in therapy!
I feel like indie shooters have become pretty stagnant as of late but this seems like its definitely worth checking out.
Try post void mayo!
Although the anime style is a huge turn off for me I’ll give it a chance because I love Post Void.
fantastic, I'm glad this turned out to be so good
Holy shit, this looks like Bulletstorm without all the wasted time and seventh gen slop
Any chance of an Amid Evil review? Recently got around to playing that one and I’m surprised to say it’s my favorite of the modern indie fps games. Cultic is a close second.
Really, I don't have a lot to say. Amid Evil is cool, very well made. It just isn't totally my thing.
@@underthemayo I got you man. I get that.

Let's try it 🎉 thanks mayo
Can't see shit, fov is way too wide to see the enemies
Then you can lower it. On my 32 inch monitor it's all very clear as I play it.
Let's go, nice review!
Woop woop, I loved the demo! gonna buy!
Glad you like it, the art style and theme alone makes me want to buy it.
EPILEPSY WARNING
Why must they restart you on floors you already beat? It wasn't cool in NES games, and it's not cool now. That's like failing in college and being sent back to high school.
Is the deve of this game Japanese?
Looks like a fun game I'll add it to my list. Been messing around with Deadlink a bit, since it came out of early access. Having fun with that
You sound consider trying Roboquest. It's a super fun shooter
Damn it, I love everything about it but I can never get behind a life draining timer.
Just try it! It has a boomer shooter mode that removes the timer entirely.
Post Void 2: less migrane edition
Actually happy for the devs, this game might get much more recognision for obvious reasons.
the style looks like post void. Edit: the 10 second counter is also a mechanic from post void
wrong
to make the review short:
crack but a game.
Reminds me of neon White
For some reason fps games that aim for speed, just dont click with me. And I dont mean fast paced combat and movement speed. I mean timers and incentive to essentially speedrun. Also I really don't like the art style of this game.
But for people who like those things, this game looks impressive. It reminds me of a demo I played a while back of a game called Anger Foot, but better, with more options.
What's interesting is that this isn't SO much about moving as fast as possible. You'll actually do better by pacing yourself to maximize the kills you're doing. I really recommend it.
@@underthemayo Maybe I'll try it out down the line. I am still trying to beat deadlink on the hardest difficulty 🫠
Out of context but should i buy System Shock remake?
Cause it’s coming out on 21st for consoles and yeah i love Bioshock
I don't think it's an immersive sim
@@AidenR19 that’s cool and all but is it a good game?
Like is it faithful to the original adaptation?
Does it do justice?
I didn't like it much, I did a video on why. But a lot of fans do, so it's a toss up.
Is this on the switch?
I know it's coming to console this year but switch I don't know
This game looks real fun.
I'm definitely missing something when it comes to this game.
I checked it out for an hour or so and while I thought it had a fantastic presentation, I thought the gameplay was ultimately very unsatisfying and (at least at a cursory glance) seemed to lack depth. I was just running forward, clicking heads and occasionally kicking or braining people in melee, sometimes with setup A sometimes with setup B.
No enemy seemed interesting, no power-up seemed to _really_ change the way I was playing... I dunno, it felt basic.
Post Void did everything this game did while feeling much more exhilarating to play in my experience.
Again, great presentation, but this one fell really flat for me.
And you're playing this on the hardest difficultly? Hard Mode makes it pretty tough to just run forward headshotting only, that was the whole idea behind lowering the time gain from headshots. But if that's still too easy for you, Insane mode comes out in about a week.
@@underthemayo Good point actually, that might have been the issue - I forget what difficulty I was playing on, not sure what the default setting was.
I ended up refunding it back then, but I should put it back on my list and check out the higher difficulty levels when I have the opportunity before passing judgement.
@@HansAlRachid you should. I made that same point to the Dev before launch that you can do exactly what you said. And that hard mode needed to push you out of it. Hard Mode was rebalanced to give only 1 second from headshots to make the 2 second gain from environmental kills feel more important. It's a way more engaging flow when you're ready for it.
anyone know if this is steam deck compatible ?
I have heard that yes, but things like font size are being adjusted for it.
11:12 Mayo cameo???
Nooo.. it couldn't be!
How can I play it if it's not out. Also, play post void as entree
It's out in an hour!
I'm concerned about the the replay value and general length of this game. It looks great and fun, but for how long? With the levels being, seemingly, very similar and the upgrades not changing much about the gameplay I believe that the game kind of has it's own 10 second timer to live by and has to bust out new mechanics every so often because if it doesn't do that I see no way that it is still fun after the first 3-4 hours or at the latest when you beat it once.
It's one of those games where the replay value comes from challenge. It'll take you a few hours to beat Challenge mode. Then Hard mode is a real step up. And insane mode comes out in 2 weeks.
I believe you get your money's worth in that experience. It's a gameplay loop to master and push yourself with higher difficulties. If that's not what you're looking for, then yeah you may be let down.

Bought it before watching based on this title I trust you brody
Holy fuck you were not wrong
Can i beat the game with only pictol?:)
You can! There are upgrades for it. It's not really a game about weapon variety. It's about kill variety and targeting.
Too much going on for my little brain
Commenting to help you in the algorithm.
Honestly not sure if this might be a case of sensory overload for me as well. Post Void sure lookked like a pain to play just from the trailers and this doesn't look as bad here...
Love what I see from this game, just not sure if I can handle playing it.
Bruh games like theese will never hit consoles f me 😢 it looks so good
It'll come out on consoles later this year
@@underthemayo 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 its DAY 1 BUY FOR ME this game just looks to good to miss out on
Hard disagree on verdict for this game. For me personally the lack of variety was so devastating that I refunded it right after the first competition. Like, the premise is fun, but the execution is severely lacking. Oh, and the executions use the same animation on _all_ enemies
What is the lack of variety you're talking about? Every level introduces new enemies and hazards. Several different weapons. Headshots, and nutshots for time bonus. Body shots for stun. You have explosive barrels, fans, and electricity panels. You can shoot open doors to kill enemies with them. And then there's like 7 difficulty levels to push your mastery.
@@underthemayo the rooms utilize the very limited amount of segments, most of hazards are static and don't require active avoidance, and almost every enemy has a universal counter: a kick. Also since the verticality is very minimal you do not even have to try that hard for headshots, you just have to move the mouse mostly horizontally
Is this a roguelite?
Yes, but it's by group of ten floors and each floor is usually less than a minute. If you die you go back to the first of the ten floors, not the beginning of the game.
