  • A great research documentary on the extreme depths of the Mariana Trench and the mind blowing unseen sea creatures. Very well narrated documentary by David Attenborough. The Mariana Trench or Marianas Trench is located in the western Pacific Ocean about 200 kilometers east of the Mariana Islands; it is the deepest oceanic trench on earth. The maximum known depth of Marian Trench is 10,984 meters however, some unrepeated measurements place the deepest portion at 11,034 meters.
This NHK documentary is all about the facts and under water life in the deepest sea floor at about 8KM to 10KM below the water level. A hair-raising film on the descent into the Mariana Trench where water exerts a pressure of 1,086 bars (15,750 psi) and the temperature is between 1 to 4 °C (34 to 39 °F).

I quite agree that Sir David Attenborough is the leading natural world documentarian. The documentaries that he has produced have educated generations of people about the world around us. Nevertheless, it is worth pointing out that this particular production was not produced by him, but by a team from NHK of Japan. Doesn't anyone bother to read the credits? That said, this English language version of the NHK produced documentary most certainly goes up quite a few notches for having Sir David narrate it.

    • @threezysworld8089

Steel ball is hollow, bottom of trench is miles and miles of solid rock. What's crazy is if anything lives down there and how. Not only that but would we ever have the capability to explore down there. I would think it would be impossible. I think humans can get to Mars easier than physically exploring the bottom of the ocean on our own planet.
