A tip for wood chopping. When you get the axe stuck in the wood, flip it around and make it so that the dull axe head hits the bottom first. The weight of the wood coming down on the axe with inertia will split itself over it.

I don’t know and I’m pretty sure the design of Maya’s axe head is such that doing what @Zilvinas.Garnelis is suggesting could damage the axe head where it is hafted. Maya would need to have a single bit axe, with a flat sledge like striking surface on the reverse side from the bit of axe head. Her axe DOESN’T have it, so should not be used in the suggested manner. 🕉️

Maya, I've seen guys split logs by turning the axe and log over .once the axe is lodged in the end of the log they hit the head of the axe on the stump. they say it's easier because it uses the weight of the log, rather than just boot strength to do the splitting. Axe on bottom log on top.

WOW big job with ceiling and you cutting & spitting wood. It looks as if your wood bottom block on which you split the logs is not on solid ground which makes it springy and absorbing power when you hit. Put a flat solid big slab of stone/cement under it which should make it easier to split the logs.

Sometimes I have to laugh at the way you approach problems, or perform work. But I admire your perseverance and you will to clear things. After all, you do it for a while now.
Not many women are able to follow you in this battle of creating your dream house.
There are chores that I would tackle differently with my experience, which would require the desire time to be shortened nicely, but you do not ask for advice, and stubbornly look for a route to get it done in your way.
There are also many people who are unable to make mistakes, with whom the guts are missing, but he or she who does not make mistakes, learn too little to become a complete profession, and you are well on your way to achieving that performance.
My compliments for your efforts, and my respect for your approach, keep on going Maya.

Someone else who uses the phrase stoked, its a you've done a spectacular job thus far, but watching you push yourself chop those logs was punishment itself.
My husband has the wider axe called a splitter it much chunkier with med and long handled versions and it does what it says on the tin.
The other option is to keep your axe well and truly sharpened.
But I know you know that.
You mention a bad back, I disabled with my back and haven't been able to do anthing as any little thing causes spasms which are painful, and after almost 24 years my back is deformed, to start with.
Please look after your back, as like you I was very active, I raced karts, I married I self built our home with my husband which he taught me every thing I know and still remember, roofing plumbing, bricking, tiling, everything. I did enjoy.
Then just before brexit we sold and moved to France for a better quality of life.
And my hubby to renovate our new place.
I watch you with such enthusiasm and hope. As I know you have high promise.
I look forward to your next video xx

Great work. I’ve seen (and used) off cut pieces of interlocking boards to hammer against instead of risking damaging the tongue and groove on the full pieces you’re using. You just pop the off cut tongue in the groove of the piece you want to hammer in straight and tight and use that as an intermediary and it doesn’t matter if it gets a little damaged. Might be helpful for next time.

I'll give you 2 or 3 tips to split wood better, (1) you have to take the handle of the ax with both hands from the end and pass it over your head, like a baseball player,
without being too rigid and without putting too much force into it you will see that the force of gravity will do its job (2) when the ax sticks into the piece but it does not split repeat the blow by lifting the ax with the piece above your head do swing the handle and hit the log you use on the ground with the flat head of the axe,
    (3) since you are so tall it is better that you put your trunk to split uphill and you downhill so you don't have to stoop too much, I noticed that in many things you do you always bend with your back and a little with your knees, you should change this posture of yours, now that you are young you won't pay too much attention to it but in the long run your back will suffer

Please don't stack your wood so close to the fire, so many homes burn down due to this.
