New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our daughter Puck and toddler Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Five years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home.

Just did! I love your oil ❤
@@josjewosje thanks for your order, we will ship it as soon as possible 😊
That is such a gorgeous spot to put your yurt and to build your house. A very inspiring view! Wishing you every blessing in your new "place".
No wonder you’ve not been posting much - so much work done!!! So enjoy seeing you again.❤
Yes, too busy getting this done! And I enjoyed making it into one video instead of a weekly update :)
When Puck is working with tools make sure her hair is put up that is a safety issue
How lucky you are to have fun and helpful friends!! Beautiful piece of land as well!
WOW. Incredible job. A major step forward.
Wow, great project and that view is simply wonderful 🤩
Awesome. Thank God for nice neighbours helping out in a time of need.
The new spot would have an awesome view to wale up to.
Very nice update. Looking forward to the next one!
Great job and super effort. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Always enjoy your video's that was a job and a half but it's much more convinient now near the kitchen well done good job the children are getting so big 👍👋👋❤
I watch your endeavors with envy. Together you achieve in a short time more than most couples do in a lifetime.
Great work. Team work. Friends work. Congrats. And happy future
Really enjoying these videos showing DIY of life getting better everyday !!!
Glad you have moved your yurt and in a Lovely area of your land. The children are growing up fast. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤ xx
What a lovely position, on top of the hill. Wonderful view. All the best in your new location.
Wow, wat een werk, maar wel een fantastische plek! Wat een uitzicht ❤
Sounds and looks like a really good decision to move and it looks to have gone well. Best wishes for a comfortable autumn! Cheers, Ian in Blackpool
Glad you were able to move the yurt before winter. You have a beautiful view, you are closer to the new house build and I might be wrong, but it seems safer for forest fires. Will you eventually move the chickens closer?
Most of our property is fairly safe for forest fires, mostly olive fields around us :) We moved the chickens already, they weren’t safe down there anymore with the fox around
@@ourportuguesehomestead Glad to hear the chickens are safe.
Wow some work done there bet the kids will love it up there what a beautiful place happy for you
Mooi ! Gefeliciteerd met deze mijlpaal !
Awe, it looks so nice. Just like a new home. Now you can even make a veranda to the kitchen. Connecting it together. It will be good on rainy 🌧 days. And nice to have a place to sit and relax in the evenings. Thanks for the update. 🎉
Great improvement ! And not just the yurt deck. Congratulations
What a brilliant video that was , well done. Wow that was some feat you had there but with all your friends help it looked like it moved quite smoothly. Hmmmm says you 😂😂. So much better with your kitchen right beside you, looking forward to seeing that in your next Vlog. Xxxxxx
Hi there, I like your pragmatic/pratical sense to use the necessary tools to get the job done. Why kill yourself when a digger will do the job in a day. I really enjoy the fact that you don't get bogged down in unattainable ideas just for the sake of saying that you're committed to something. A lot of common sense trumps false idealism. It's hard enough to live off grid and there is no reason to make it any harder. I enjoy your sense of self preservation. Muito obrigado, mesmo.
This Is Fantastic!!!
I was thinking of you all just before I saw your video pop up.
A hell of a lot of good work, but the results are going to be worth it!
Oh, and the obligatory "The kids are getting so big!" ;)
Leah, your music choices are always excellent, but the ding ding ding piece re the new build had me laughing out loud :)
Can't wait for the next video.
Congratulations on your move. Wish you the best in your future endeavors. Love the view. Great videography. Great that you had help. Look forward to seeing you build your new house.
It is just wonderful to see you all. You have been very busy. The new spot is a great plan. You are enjoying the view from the top; it is just amazing. The children are looking so cute and happy too. I am glad that you are all well and things going your way. Thank you, Nathan, for all of the help!! It will. be exciting to see the kitchen. Great video.
Fantastic, I was worried all summer that the fires had caused you problems. Well done, maintenance is a life time problem and you did it in a heat wave. Loved the laughter. Can’t wait for next video.
💚💛💙💚
A great move Yurt and Kitchen. Enjoy.❤
Congrats!
What a great bunch of friends. Well done, lads.
oh my gosh, what a big job! WOW! I truly admire you for going through all this. And yes, I know that when things arise we don't have a choice but do it. So CONGRATULATIONS !!! Many Blessings and Well Wishes !
Great video! - thanks for sharing.
WOW!!! Congratulations! Huge step. I was just thinking how I'll likely move my yurt in a year or so, after 5 yrs in the current spot. I can't imagine how the deck looks under it or the felt insulation layer in the areas that I don't look often... eeek. But this gives me perspective and hope to see yours went well.
The great thing about a yurt is that they're relatively simple to move 😊
@@ourportuguesehomestead So true! And mine is only 17' feet diameter and a design that opens up like a bit like an umbrella, the wooden supports are all one unit rather than lattice (the brand is Yurta made by a tiny company in Canada). Technically I could put it up with two people, but three is easier. Thanks for sharing your process. It sounds like such a nice new chapter in your life!
Good to see Martin in full PPE for the brush cutting. Stay safe! Big decision, design trade offs, and lots of hard work. Hand-mixed concrete - been there too. Well done! It’s interesting to see how climate affects the build. No frost heave, no drain below platform, no landscape cloth, …
Veel succes en ik kijk uit naar de volgende episode 👍
Good move! Don't worry about being delusional. You are not the only ones.
I think you kinda have to be a little delusional at all times to start something like this 😂
Wow, so much work! But it looks wonderful up there. Can’t wait for your next video. ❤
Amazing how durable the yurt materials are. Your buffer home remains for the next years of planning and building. I look forward to more details such as the kitchen move. Maybe you can then discuss the distance to the garden and daily chores.
One of my favorite videos! You’ve all come so far. This setting is stunning. Could it be cooler up higher in the summers? Best, in your “new” home.
We should have more of a breeze up there, we'll see next summer how it really is. The last few summers when it's extra hot we sometimes camped in the garden because that's the lowest and coolest spot we have
Looks amazing and dancing dude can definitely be appreciated XD
🕺
You’re an amazing couple, the way you face your challenges and keep on going!
wow, what a result.... very cool 😎 😎
Good job, so happy for you all.💕🇨🇦
A new home for your yurt & an amazing view. Great effort and teamwork, glad it all went well for you💛
This construction looks very professional to me and the place is more prettiest view 😊
Huge huge effort to do this. It went so well with help from friends. And the view is amazing.
😂Bo and Puck on the scooper ❤❤❤ Always happy to see you doing well in your property and at your own pace.
looks great! can you please make a list of the music you have here especially the Portuguese one? Joao ??
The Portuguese song during the yurt building was Passarinho by Luiz Mura :)
You may want to look at adding a loop at the top of the drive so you don’t have to back up the trailer so often. Might make construction on the house go easier.
It’s on the list 😅
Amei a mudança. Com vista das montanhas. ❤
Cool 😎 glad you're happy 😊
Wow. The new view is amazing! Happy for you guys!
Change is as good as a holiday. 🎉
And now we need a holiday from all that hard work 😂
Looks beautiful, and the site is great! Well done!
Following you since the beginning and was actually a bit "concerned" because I didn't see you posting videos. Was worried about the fires in Portugal... I am glad you guys are OK!!
💫🙌🏻💫
We just don't post as much as before, I now prefer showing a whole project in one video instead of posting weekly :)
@@ourportuguesehomestead Thank you for your reply, Leah! It was unexpected because I know how busy you guys are!!
Many blessings to you and your family!!
🍀🍀🙌🏻🍀🍀
Smart to move the yurt!
Last time I checked, little Bo couldn't even walk. And look at him! Amazing work! Amazing family and friends! Also, if I may be so bold, I'm hoping for you to add to your videos your funny and good looking friend 😄
Well I think you need to check more often, Bo's been walking for a few years and even started school now 😂 I will see what I can do in regards to adding Tom as a regular feature 👀
@@ourportuguesehomestead 😄Indeed! The world needs to slow down! Thank you for you positive reply 👀😁
I missed you family, you are doing so good
❤
Awesome to see your move! Watching, you can't help sitting here and get all these great ideas of improvements,, but I also just know that this was plenty of hard work as is. Good job!
I did think of you guys earlier today,, mostly as I had a question,, You have a REOLINK camera with a SIM card right? Have you found an affordable plan for that?
We just use a pre-paid card :)
What a fascinating procedure. Looks great.
I am happy the family again. The children are growing up so fast!! You and Maarten, have been quite busy, great move. Excellent video!!
Absolutely Beautiful! Labor of Love from Everyone! I could feel it and that brought me tears , So Blessed for Friends~~☮Peace & 🕉Love to Your Family~~💜💚
Great little video guy's, and well chosen music. Great job!
Your new spot is beautiful. The new Yurt is looking incredible. Well done both. So happy for you.
You now have a great view.
Sorry to hear about your thick ankles and the problem with goats not able to chew through them. Maybe the goats could eat most of it then martin could chew the rest of the way through. 🐐
So, stop as you would, ill consider it an option. 🐐 😊
Deck looks great guys! Hard work in the heat 🥵 I bet it feels much better than the balancing rocks of the first one 😉
Honestly, the rocks were not the issue on the old deck. When I started taking the deck apart I noticed that all the beams were still touching the rocks and they were all still super stable. That actually made me proud of past me haha cheers, Maarten
Wow amazing job💪🏻
Nice decision guys! Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
Loved Bo's photo bombs. What a beautiful location!
Childrens’ laughs are the best 💝🥰 A lot of work, congrats💪👏
Oh my what a fantastic move you made. Thank goodness for friends too.
You chose a fantastic spot where your views down are so lovely!☺
Always look forward to your videos. Good job.
Change is good. Well done for making the move.
Amazing work!!! Love seeing it after it is done!
Beautiful spot and such a beautiful structure ❤
Ein schöner Film über die Verlagerung Eurer Behausung. Die Drohnenaufnahmen sind gut und geben einen plastischen Überblick. Viel Erfolg. Sven
Boom! 😂 ( if it was so easy to move your home! Well done!)
I love your home and land. And have enjoyed your videos.
Amazing views ❤. I miss those views.
Your hard work and dedication is an inspiration
It's really nice to see the results of the whole summer :). Also, the video is really nicely edited, telling a well-rounded story with many interesting views in short 26 minutes. I am looking forward to new videos about the kitchen and stuff ;)
Glad you liked it, I was happy with the final edit too 😊
Dat ziet er prachtig uit, proficiat!🥂🌟👏👍🍀💐
Epic! Well done and good luck.😎
Fascinating to watch. I saw you erect the Yurt the first time glad you had help and it went up smoothly. The filming was awesome.
Thanks!
Nice to see the kids growing up too.
Beautiful!! Thank you!
Oh my goodness, I loved this video. That is really an accomplishment. I'm very very happy you got to have your kitchen close to your home. I cannot wait for the next video. This one was certainly worth the wait.
Glad you like it 😊
That's a huge upgrade.. now you get to enjoy the view on daily basis.. the rest will come in time.. Enjoy your new place
We’re not in a rush 😊
The views from up there are awesome!
Life improvement for the better😊🎉❤.
Concrete and osb does not really sound like something that will keep water away, but let's hope it holds long enough for your house build.
Cool, thanks 👍
Glad to have an update and thank you. With the fires we had this year, I was a bit worried. And you have many pine trees...
Not so many fires around us this year luckily 🙏
Lovely view from the hill
It is a lovely spot to settle in
