Thank you so much! You are amazing! It was an inexpensive and quick fix. You are an excellent teacher! You showed step by step in detail and in close up. Thank you, for also providing the part number and the link to place the order. I now have a peace of mind. 🙏😇🤗
This video was the light at the end of a dark tunnel for me this week . What I thought would be an expensive and hard fix turned out to be a quick and cheap fix . Thank you for the video and Amazon link🙏🏽
Thanks man! Your video helped me to replace the trunk latch on my 2008 corolla. dealership wanted to charge me $250!!! i bought the part on Amazon for $22!
I had thought that shimming it with the washers worked for me, but it didn't stay fixed. I thought that replacing it with a new handle worked for me, but it only latched once, then was not shutting again. But what I did discover was that the lower part of the latch was misaligned. I used a screwdriver to bend, ever so slightly, the lower part of the latch, the part by the bumper, and it has been working, so far.
Yes, there's a few different ways to fix it. And I did shim it with washers but found out over time. The latch was broken from slamming it so many times before hand shimed it and overtime just ended up not working, so purchase the new latch
I did purchase the new latch and it worked once, but it was the alignment of the lower portion onto which the latch latches. Once I realigned that lower portion it is working well. Thanks so much for posting your video, it was so helpful for installation.
Thank you for putting a part number and compatible years. I have a 2007 and am about to go to pick a part to see if I can get the latch off of this 2003 they have.
I did the installation as described on my 2004 Corolla and the new latch won't engage! I see a little bit of part lubricant on the trunk bar/ring at the bottom so it looks like it's lined up correctly when I close the trunk- but it won't hold! Did I miss something??
Sorry to say, but a new latch doesn’t always fix this problem. The steel catch often needs to be fine tuned, or replaced. The whole thing is a goddamned nightmare. I’m currently dealing with this shit outside in the middle of winter and it’s making me want to lose it on whoever came up with this trunk design.
I think the catch could be my problem as well. When I push the devices (uninstalled) against the steel ring, both the old and new latch will catch and hold them; they just won't catch and hold when properly installed. Frustrating!
Any ideas on how to unlock the trunk from inside? It won’t open, I got access to the trunk from the back seat but pretty sure it’s jammed in the latch itself

I was delivering and I needed my trunk space and the latch broke at the base I’m waiting for the part 😫☺️
Well, it took me more than 5 minutes, more like 30😅 but I am a novice. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the help I was clueless lol
My Corolla have the same problem lol thank you so much
Your welcome glad it worked.
Hey man my lock needs replacement but also I need to change the cable that goes from front to back can’t find any videos on that
Thank you I finally don’t have to slam trunk lol😂
Thank you, sir!

Thank you exelente video
thanks very helpful.👍
Glad it was helpful!
I fixed mine with the washer trick and it’s great however now my door ajar lights up and my car thinks the trunk is open any suggestions?
So there's a little push button. Switch that might need to be adjusted up. So it's engaging with the trunk latch
Ohhh interesting I’m looking at mine and well idk if I see it I gotta do some research will be back with an update it’s safe to say it is a 2012 model

I'm having the exact same problem right now with my sister's 07

Do u have any ideas on how to use this setup on a ae100 wagon with the pull cable
Any ideas on how to unlock the trunk from inside? It won’t open, I got access to the trunk from the back seat but pretty sure it’s jammed in the latch itself
Have to take the back seat apart.
Thanks.
Thank you sir..
Thank you!!! Toyota dealerships suck and they want to rip you off. I swear.
Yes they tend to do that... I'm really glad this video helped you save some money..
I can’t get one for a 2001 Toyota Corolla. Does anyone know if a 2003 in a 2001 would work well?
Would this fit a 2009 corolla le?
Easy !
Dealership wants $257.95 for the part and $80 labor..criminals
I bought the latch and it doesn’t even work
Just wanted to reach out and see what part of it wasn't working question?
