@streetxjammingdualxscreens9228 I put the loot guy in the castle, because there's a kid with the same shirt/color scheme as him. I also put the goatherd in the cheese shop
7:52 I think it's a nod to the Fright Knights, specifically set 6007. With all the bats in the background it has to be fright knights. Really cool nontheless. 100% picking this up. Love the original from (really? that long?) 15 years ago. One of, if not my favourite sets of all time. This looks like a great upgrade? replacement? companion? to that set. Tree does look kinda meh but I don't recall a great lego tree, not in minifig scale anyway.
You see the helmet of the Bat Lord (vampire) of the cmf 25. Also the dragon in the past was the same as the dragon knight but in black with trans orange wings.
Hold up! “Here’s a little thief with a wolf on his chest…” whaaaaat? He represents the long awaited return of the famous Wolfpack line from vintage LEGO, the darker counterparts to the Forestmen. He’s a super recognizable figure from a super iconic theme! Give the lil guy some recognition! 😢😂
Lets talk customization! Will the watch tower, upgrade to a clock tower? hm.... should the Inns become separate buildings? Perhaps the castle one becomes a storehouse and small stable? So many possibilities. Also I am kinda shocked at how much bigger the mountain fortress looks...
You need a second copy i guess. When you can manage to complete the different buildings as a hole. In that way you can create more like a small town. And the clock tower is something what would work well. Maybe just some kind of church will fitt perfect in the square as a fifth building. And there around the houses. And beyond that a castle.

Great review! I'm sorry but I was rolling, laughing that you kept emphasizing that the textile guy was there to shear the goat. Not so much that it was a mistake but that he was so intent on giving him a good cut 😅
Thanks for the great review. I enjoy watching your videos, your reviews are always honest, you point out the good and the bad sides of a set, which not a lot of people do, when it comes to Lego. Most of them, only criticise the sets, but never mention the good sides. I like this set, the whole layout of the village, I will definitely add it to my collection. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Vienna Austria
I loved the build on this set. It went together well with no real frustration points, but it was still interesting. I love all the Easter Eggs. The different waxes on the different envelopes was a nice touch (Dragon Knights and Black Falcons plus one I can't place). Maybe some hints of what is to come? The modularity is very nice. This will be a fantastic addition to my Ideas/Icons Castle display.
If you got all the, or most of the CMF castle figures you have the time of your life with these sets. Lion knights castle + the market is it for me. And I got the Bard, the CMF wizard, Basil, the little knight girl, the Jester, The falconeer, 2 of the goat herders and the barbarian woman. Also I got both Majistos workshop and the Forestmens hideout. My village will be packed. Granted not everyone will have these, or even more like the bear knight and the tournament knight (raven). Yet I feel that with this set and some of the CMF figures you got an awesome display.
I'm going to wait for a discount because they pulled back on the animals from the original, shorted us on the minifigures, and the thatching on the roofs. Now, I only want thatched roofs. 😁
Yes you need 2 of them to combine the buildings as one. So you have more spaces workplaces. And of course to populatie the city. Would be great if lego is going to maken lego medieval City.
I'm pretty sure all the descriptions were meant to be satirical since he sat down at LEGO and heard all of their backstories and true roles within the village.
@frostburn311 I hope so, but sitting down at Lego and hearing the backstories doesn't mean anything. David is a true Lego Star Wars fan for sure. But there are a good number of LAN members who clearly don't know shit about Lego and have channels just to have them. They'll get this set for free and won't know what or who Wolfpack are.
I would say that the Medieval black smith, ideas set gave lego the good base, inspiration and idea to strat making medieval sets again and the lion knights castle was the start.
A good and honest review. I think you did a great job at showing the set in detail, without taking too much time. I'm not entirely sure the value is there for this set, but since it is priced a little lower as Lion's knight's Castle the barrier to buy in is also lower. While with the castle, I am convinced that the parts are more than useful to a medieval LEGO builder, with this I am less sure. Everyone can use a goat and there is some nice detailing on the buildings, but what Lion's Knights Castle offered in raw building parts, minifigures and accessories, this doesn't come close to half the value in my opinion, but it costs basically quite a bit more than half of that set. Unlike the Mountain Fortress set, which for some reason was limited edition (a horrible idea if you ask me), at least this is going to be available for purchase if you want it, maybe eventually for a discount from a regular retailer.
Beautiful set! Only two things i think could've been better is if we had gotten a comunity board and another vendor stall instead of the tree. Also an extra fig (chef) and maybe a vendor for said vendor stall
I mean…it’s not meant to go with the blacksmith, in fact that set is completely out of scale with this one!, this set is specifically meant to go with the castle, which is pretty simple
This may be a dumb question, but I’m curious, when you say “LEGO sent this over for review” does that mean you send it back after you review it or do you get to keep it?
I am sure it will also go well with my already existing Lego Medieval Market Village #10193 from 2009 since that one has a metal smith and an inn which was different along with cows.
Im just now getting back into lego after 10 years and i was torn on getting into modulars or castle. I decided to go with castle and ordered the blacksmith shop and the falconer cmf minifig to start my black falcon army. Probably gonna pick this up next, and hopefully eventually the lion knights castle. I'm so sad I missed the mountain fortress 😢
Looks like a great set! I will have to say that as I really like the details in newer Lego sets, I kinda feel like they have lost some of the charm you get with the simplicity of the older sets. The one thing that bothers is the heavy use of stickers. I really wish those pieces were painted instead.
There should be more figures and more animals. I was hoping for a cow, chickens, at least 2 goats and they gave us this. It's really downsize from the leaked image a year ago. I would buy that one for sure but with this one I really hesitate. Maybe if a 35 % sale comes somewhere, it will be worth it, but not now
Doubt it. The white goat is readily available and the goat from 2009 goes for 50-100. I suspect that this goat will be max 25. But since people already have the white goat available. How many goats do you need?
Is this set not the 3rd (or 4th) set with the Medieval Black Smith the start of the revival? If you count the Viking village as medieval as Castel, this is the 4th set and that is excluding the Lego Creator sets and the Lego Insiders gift sets.

This is an awesome set which I will try to pick up but I'm really hoping that Lego will actually bring back the Castle theme for real and release a variety of sets at a variety of prices like they used to. The last Castle theme a decade ago was great because it was very affordable I was able to buy every one of the sets very easily even the big Castle, can't say that right now when the cheapest Castle set out right now is the 3 in 1 creator set at 100, which still isn't too bad compared to the 400 price point of the Lion's Castle, which I would definitely love to be able to get, though I do think about the fact that I could easily buy at least 2 original Castles from the 80s and 90s for the same price. Anyways it would just be nice to see some more affordable Castle sets in the near future as well.
I would love to see this side by side with the original Medieval Market Village. Looks great, but the price is high for my budget; I hope Lego makes some smaller castle sets in the near future. BTW, why is everyone so excited about the goat? It'll probably be on PAB in a few months.
Hello, really nice video. I would like to know your opinion what kind of minifigures are missing? Which 4 minufigures would you recommend or appreciate?
Why do people cry about stickers? Do you want the set to be $30 more just for some printed plates? They will just put less of them and be less creative . Plus if you aren’t a baboon you can put the stickers on perfectly using some basic tweesers
I love LEGO castle...but for some reason I'm just not feeling it with this one. Totally subjective, but it just fails to grab my imagination. Maybe it's the colors? Or the layout? Just doesn't feel "right" to me.
We always want more figures but it's a good deal on price per piece. Would it be if they added more figures? Probably not. It's made to go with lion knights castle which has a lot of figures. Those figures can fill in the town center and would likely work both in town and at the castle.
Woah, you have a Mountain Fortress already?! It look so good! I am so glad I hopped on Twitter when Bricklink crashed the morning of the Mountain Fortress presale. I found a link to directly buy it from Lego. I missed the Castle In The Forest in 2021 so I converted the Ideas Treehouse to a Forestmen HQ. I have 2x versions of the 2009 buildings, and a 2x Blacksmith. I want to build this new Town Square into 2x size, but it will be really hard to preserve the hinging effects, even if I re-hinge them. I love my hinging 2x Forest Hideout and Majisto Workshop, but I haven't MILS plate them because I like to open them up to show people! Time to design a MILS that they can easily lift off from.
Dude the sticker on the tree saying beware with the dragon, that's the new vamp knight(Basil) on a dragon!!! Hopefully this means they'll be bringing back the fright knights!!
Ok got a problem. Got the lion knights castle and found the market at a steap price, but got no room for this. Would all look good with my castle 6074, downside with a small flat.
