My mum did a good job of making my siblings and i develop a rich vocab. She made us read books and newspaper articles, pick out new words, learn the meaning, and use it in making sentences. I'm so used to it that i unconsciously do it till today. Can't have a phone without a merriam-webster dictionary installed😂😂😂. Bless her heart

Excellent Job Winnie, reading is a gateway to abundance. 1 read 15 BOOKS every year excluding my bible, articles, and other related career books. The power of reading can never be overemphasized.
whenever you read, always write down something you learn or circle something in the book. This will improve your retentive and retrieval memory. people remember 10% of what they hear - - 20% of what they read - - 80% of what they see. The more you write, the more you see and the more you remember. Also, don't be intimidated to read the same book again and again and again. Always choose motivational books as well

Tip 1- Read wide, articles, blog posts, books, you find a strange word, take note of it and find out what it means and how can it be used in a sentence. Consume media with intent. Tip 2- look out for synonyms to those words, you can be happy, elated, or anger, livid, exasperated. I'm glad you found this helpful. It's my pleasure to share. Tip 3 - Idioms - figurative expressions that add color to your speech, don't take on much work (don't bite more than you can chew), punctuation, paragraph etc you can learn this when you read Have a dictionary and be conscious and aware of these things.
Thank you Winnie for this episode. Recently, while reading, I came across the word "teetotaler" - used to refer to one who totally abstains from alcohol. Hello Winnie and Derin. Thank you for putting together this amazing video. It is very true in my personal life. I have struggled with articulating what I want for a long time that I almost learned the hard way that it is important and even healthy that I say loud and clear what I have in my mind. I enjoy writing and it is one way I use to communicate and feel comfortable because my thoughts flow quickly and much more easily. But I am a mom, I will not write to my children to discipline them; and with my husband when I don't speak it leads to frustration. Being aware of this helps, so thank you!
@@dictionwithderin thank you. The first thing that stood out to me was when you introduced yourself as a Diction instructor. I didn't know someone can do that. Thanks to this particular video, I went back to my 17 years old self to bring her back to make peace with my 33 years old self so that we let emerge our new self in this category So again thank you

Am exuberant with joy, I love that Winnie. Thanks for this video sweetheart
Vocab building and mastery can truly make one become a commander-in-chief of English Language. It adds spices to our statements. It enables us to talk elegantly like a pro in an eloquent and not in a grandiloquent, pompous or bombastic manner. Don't ask me for the meaning because I don't even know... LOL 😂😂
The last part…🤣🤣🤣

One of the points Derin didnt Add is using Short words
Instead of Cool some people will typed Kul or even cul and with time they eventually forget how the words are been spelt correctly
People should avoid using abbreviations its not as if it even save their Data

Thank you. These are the exact techniques I used when I started learning English at age 8 . I watched movies with intention, billboards, news etc.
Just being lazy now 😅. I’m gonna get back on word banks .
Thank you again

Hello Winnie and Derin.
Thank you for putting together this amazing video.
It is very true in my personal life.
I have struggled with articulating what I want for a long time that I almost learned the hard way that it is important and even healthy that I say loud and clear what I have in my mind.
I enjoy writing and it is one way I use to communicate and feel comfortable because my thoughts flow quickly and much more easily. But I am a mom, I will not write to my children to discipline them; and with my husband when I don't speak it leads to frustration.
Being aware of this helps, so thank you!
Awww! We’re glad to know you found this video helpful. Rooting for you 👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼
@@dictionwithderin thank you. The first thing that stood out to me was when you introduced yourself as a Diction instructor. I didn't know someone can do that. I know for a fact that I have always loved spelling since elementary school; however, after I graduated from high school 15 years ago, i pretty much forgot about it because I thought who cares about spelling words correctly. Thanks to this particular video, I went back to my 17 years old self to bring her back to make peace with my 33 years old self so that we let emerge our new self in this category So again thank you
@@agapemvovi I’m so glad this video gave you the needed push to continue paying attention to your pronunciation, enriching your vocabulary and Public Speaking in general. Please don’t stop practicing 🤗
