Softube synths are more full spectrum than Arturia...but then you have to EQ the hell out of them to get them to fit in a mix. And then, there is no built in FX apart from onboard delays and reverbs...so you end up having to use other FX to get the patch you want. Diva is from Urs Heckmann ( UHe) , a sound nerd from Berlin . Hans Zimmer is a big fan and produced the dark night ost almost completely on the Uhe zebra synth . Fantastic synths 😍
Battery 4 should be at the top, why? Two reasons: 1 Good sound shaping 2 You can save your kits as monoliths. Anyone knowing what reorganizing your sample libraries does to pulling up old projects. Missing sample fuckery. Battery 4 is solid.

I love the UJAM plugins, which are actual virtual instruments. The piano series is fantastic. They have strings, brass, drums also and the thing that makes them a true virtual instrument is that it plays phrases for your selected chords.
You can still buy ANA2 perpetual for like $60 (amazing value). It seems they may have made this (the 'super sale price') their regular price, if I'm seeing correctly. That's an amazing value!

Whilst we are on the tier list style videos I’d find it really interesting if you did a ranking of your sound packs. Maybe not in the A-F style format but with different names or something. I think it would be cool as you get to show case some of your older work + maybe give insights to your inspiration and BTS stuff. Maybe the theme could be most versatile pack to most niche or something like that.
Love these videos. A couple notes for feedback: 1.) Would be nice for some quick 10-15 second demos of these in action so it’s easier to understand the valuation. 2.) May be nice to have the screenshot up for a few more seconds, or even have it up the whole time and tucked into a corner so that it’s easier to digest the context and UI
heard! I will say, I don't think 15 seconds would do any plugin justice. I'd rather tell people about the plugin and if it seems interesting they can go research and find demo videos.

I bought some Ample Sound guitars for amazing discounts. You just have to wait for the right moment, and then with each guitar you get more discount. I got 3 guitars for $199 total this year.
I picked up the Korg bundle for $200 last Black Friday, worth it at that price. $150 just for the Triton plugin, would only make sense if you really needed those sounds and didn't have anything else to emulate them.
I’m a bit biased but I’ve been using v collection and superior drummer for a good 6 years. (Only now starting to go semi-professional/certificate), but I can almost always dial in the sounds I hear in my head with them. I am eyeing the new SDX though, it sounds like it’d be really good for a lot of indie stuff. The cymbals are some of the best I’ve heard from them.
The thing with Roland Cloud software is that it works 50% of the time, I fucking hated it everytime I had to use it and I just ended up using Arturia's versions or Diva with the Juno and Jupiter emulations
I have them all and more, but my go to synth is Sylent 1 since 2008 😅 It's like Cubase for me, I am using it since 1994 and I have all my presets ready to play, know exactly what I can do and for what I need synths like Serum.
I agree, but, if we look at it from the perspective of someone who needs a let's say, "very portable" studio, virtual instruments is pretty much the way to go, I agree that there's a lot of stuff that match and even surpass komplete library, but if you are in Nomad mode, komplete is your war thank, the negative stuff about NI stuff is that the learning curve can be a bit too steep, but in your case with all the gear you have, yeah, a lot of virtual stuff won't make any sense ✌🏻

MODO Bass 2 is probably the closest "fake bass" to make a DI from. The UI leaves much to be desired and it's kind of a PITA to program manually. It's still my primary bass VST i use for LoFi music.
I had Roland cloud a couple of times, first to try to make my old Roland HW redundant and second to support getting sounds onto a new Fantom I bought. it was so frustrating I cancelled and never will look back.
Battery is dead and discontinued! It's no longer offered in the newest NI Komplete bundle!!! typical NI. I don't trust this strange manufacturer anymore, they habe discontinued so many great plugins...like Absynth, FM8, Massive 1, B4 Organ, Spectraldelay, Kompakt simple sampler, akustic piano etc.

@@MakePopMusic You can get Modo Bass CS free and that comes with 1 bass so you can try it out! The options are great and you can customise everything to create a unique bass sound (change pick ups, move them around etc). I find I don’t need that level of customization that often. It is also physically modelled which for some people will never quite sound as good as sampled instruments.

I really like these videos, but there is one thing I am not crazy about. If you have never tried a plugin, you should maybe just not put it on the list?

SO many of the synths and virtual instruments in this list are one trick pony's in all honesty, it definitely is kinda sad that these are the vst's people are still using. Current > Serum, Pianoteq is > than piano V and the Swam Modeled Instruments are leagues better than the sampled rubbish from spitfire etc who sadly lost their way over the years and fails to put quality over profits. I think the whole industry become like that and much worse with the industry in the shitshow it is now. People forgot what it was to create and care more about the results of the process, rather than the process itself. Same with being bad and and getting good, its like if you don't enjoy the journey and put the music as the means to create not so much what comes from it, i feel thats what messes most people up and either holds them back or forces them to quit, exp;ecting that it would have been as easy as preset, copy, paste. Music needs innovation and creative ideas/sounds. We need to stop the whole internet culture of this niche and reset it, because truly i think it has been somewhat part of music and the industry's decline in recent years. I think so many people got messed up on wanting the exact sounds of their idols instead figuring out they had their own, they just had to develop, practice and listen to themselves and their ears. In all respect, that;s all that matters sometimes, if you feel something and your ears are enjoying the sounds your on the right path. Most often we don't like what we are making, because in blindside to our true being, we are making something not true to us or our culture.

this is a wildly serious comment for such a silly little video. i'm not sure how me ranking a few plugins that people submitted on Instagram means that music and production is dying. there are dozens of plugins that I use all the time that weren't on this list, and there were lots on this list that I think are solid plugins but I don't personally reach for them often
Spitfire is one of the worst virtual instruments out there. It literally has no resemblance to Arcade other than some similar user interface similarities.
