Holy sheen! I never knew you cud marquee select an automation line and create those points! Josh's vids are always good for those Easter eggs. 1% happier now for the rest of my life.
Wow, I was searching for this kind of techniques for a while and couldn't find anything. Now I woke up hungover 🤣 and this video just popped in my feed, amazing. Thank you kind sir for saving my day, much love and appreciation ❤️
Great video!!! The ideas and tools kept coming one after another. Understanding what type of tension building transition tools exist, has given me inspiration and a great starting point of how to pull inspired ideas out of the system. Thank you!
16:00 - for risers it’s better to use pitch bend on the synth so you don’t get artifacts from a plugin. Default is usually set to only +2/-2 so you can increase those to taste.
@musictechhelpguy when it comes to automation snap, if it's turned OFF you don't need to move the first node back anymore. At least in 10.4.6, which is what I have, you can have 2 nodes aligned without one deleting the other. It just doesn't work is the snap is ON, though
Thank you for this video. I'm not realy in EDM and other "musics for the youth" 👨🏼🦳 but sometimes I could need to mimic these classic effects of the mainstream sounds of our time.
Thank you. This is an excellent video. I am going to try all the techniques you have shown in a self tutorial. These transitions are something I need to learn more about and improve upon. Thanks again.
I always be using 808 Flex, Atlanta, trap Door, and a couple other drum kits. Or I will make them up. That is always fun doing. Thank you for this. This is what I have been wanting to learn so much for my beats.
26:40 how did he do that!? (Also outstanding video. This is high quality material. Very informative, right to the point, I'm a logic newbie and this was so helpful!!!)
Very useful examples and explanations. Any reason not to just bypass the filters at the end of the transition instead of having to nudge the automation back and then set the filter wide open? Same question for muting the reverb tail. Would bypassing the reverb accomplish the same thing or would it lead to problems? Do you prefer the summing stack to just creating a submix bus? I know they are functionally equivalent but curious if there are other advantages of either method.
The reason why I don't just bypass the plugins is that sometimes when you bypass a plugin, you'll get an audible pop or click in the signal. If you really don't want to have the automation jumping that quickly, you can always just duplicate the track, and apply the transition effect on the duplicate track, and leave the original track alone. A summing stack and submix/submaster on an aux track are the same in terms of how the audio is handled. You just get the bonus of it also being in a 'Folder' if you use a stack.
I always find automation on the stereo out a little tricky. When using certain plugins, you also want to automate the 'bypass' for that plugin because you want to be sure it isn't effecting the audio in any way after the transition. By doing this, you can get clicks and pops and even the bypass moment is hard to get it synced to the correct beat/point. Therefor, I like to bounce out the transition part and have it on a separate track and make my automations there. Secondly, I never automate my 'volume' but use the gain plugin instead. This way you can still use the fader when you are about to downmix your project. What is your approach on that one? Thanks.
I also thought the same in your second point, but you can adjust the automate, when you open the automate window, are the automate options, read, latch, etc, to the right the parameter to automating, volume, cut off, whatever, and at the corner, the magic option, you can swipe up or down to adjust the general automate, so now you can automate the volume :) I hope you can understand me haha, i am learning english
Incredibly good tips. 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻 It‘ll take me weeks to get familiar with this. So far I’ve only used the reverse crash. But you are a top expert on Logic. And I’m a complete nobody. When I see this I‘m not even a beginner! With your real helpful tips I can improve a little and get a little step further. By the way: Now my question seems to have got an answer: I always asked myself what filter was used in Dream Theater‘s Album „Distance over Time“ in the song „Room 137“ at 3:59 to 4:03! I think a possible answer can be found here in one of your tips. If not, could you or anyone of those people who read this tell me how the mixing engineer produced that effect? Thanx in advance! 👍🏻
0:00 Intro

19:57 Remix FX Note Repeater
22:25 Remix FX Tape Stop
23:43 False Start Effect
"Oh that's how you do that!" said me about 12 times in this video. Really helpful, thanks.
You have one of the most in-depth and consistent channels and I know I'm not the only one who truly appreciates you sharing your knowledge. Thank you
Holy sheen! I never knew you cud marquee select an automation line and create those points! Josh's vids are always good for those Easter eggs. 1% happier now for the rest of my life.
The Marquee tool is super useful. You can do so much with it. There's maybe 6 or 7 things you can do with it. Or maybe more
Thank you for saving our day again!
Fantastic - you had me laughing out loud with the Stop FX and the false start!
This was exactly what I was looking for, very clear way to explain it, thanks man!

Yes, if the synth can do a 2 octave pitch bend. Many of them can’t.
This is incredible! Hope to see more. Love this. Your videos are straight into the session. ❤️
It was very helpful to know how to put a channel out of the effect. Thanks man!

Good to know! I though that 'flush' automation points were allowed in a recent updated, but I confused as to why it wasn't working! Thanks.

I think the best thing as a producer is actually when you get out of a certain box and apply a technique to a different genre
@@iamdannywyatt That's exactly what I thought, use all the tools and ideas you can, i, art only the result is important.

I just learned about adding a lane within the automaton for different parameters wow
