I truly appreciate you and this channel so so much. I just watched a vegan grocery haul where they spent almost 500$ for one week and my jaw dropped. It had lots of beautiful produce, I know this works for some ppl and I never want to judge/offend. But personally I just can’t right now. We all do what works for us right. Your advice to buy frozen veggies has been saving me crazy amounts of money! They’re just as yummy, frozen berries too (which I can’t live without in my oats haha) Maybe mushrooms as a main ingredient for a video .. Or squash? Or chickpeas 😋 thanks again, Miranda! As you know, I’m the same with frozen veggies and produce because it tends to fit my lifestyle better so I can use it through out the week vs fresh I need to use in the first few days! I saw on the news this morning the average household in the Midwest is spending $433 more per month on their normal expenses this month than they were at the beginning of the year due to inflation And as we all know, no one got a pay increase to help that increase! Jessica I’ll get on it! I find quinoa hard to use, typically I buy it use a bit and it sits for me and than i make a Buddha bowl or something! Once I did a breakfast quinoa bake which was alright! Different and sweet! But it’s a tough ingredient for me!
I make a barley salad. It's basically cooked barley and Pico de Gallo. I add more lime juice if I feel it's dry. Add onion and garlic powder too. Some oregano or italian seasoning too.

@@flourishingmiranda That would be really nice. Maybe just a picture of the presentation and some added audio after the fact rather than trying to film the process. I, and probably many, could use some party ideas. Thanks.
I love this baked potato idea, I’ve been figuring out how I’m going to use this celery and can of chickpeas hanging around. Going to make it this week.
Perfect! And if you have extra chickpeas and celery throw some mustard with it, some seasoning and maybe a pickle and it’ll be a great chickpea salad (mock chicken salad!)
This is why I like watching your channel. Even though you don't prep (I would say we are preppers but barely), you weren't judging those that do. You just say it isn't for you and move on. You make the food that works for you and never are rude if someone isn't into the exact same thing you do. So many other channels are full of negativity and judging others and their choices. And spoiler alert, being judged by random people on the internet is rarely if ever going to make someone change their mind.

Prepping is a good thing. I have a small freezer and vegan food is expensive. So, when there is a sale on it, I try and fill my little freezer. Why is this good? I work at Amazon and was injured on the job. It took five weeks to get workpersons comp pay. My partner and I would have run out of food by the second week because she did not have a job at the time.

Hi girl, thanks for great recipes and video again! Im trying to think of a sub for the Franks spicy sauce and haven’t come up with anything. Do you have any ideas(even if it’s not a sauce) for someone who cannot deal with spicy foods. Thanks and I hope all is on the mend with your hubby! 🌸
Having grown up in California we tried to keep 3 to 4 days of water and food items that didn't need cooking on hand. Also having lived in rural areas where the possibility of road closures and fires might prevent food trucks from getting through we plan ahead. It's like the spare tire for your car. It's there, ready if you need it but hoping you don't. Just my opinion. Not a major prepper, (no space) but cautiously planning.
Since you live in an area with natural disasters I can see how this would give you some peace of mind! I was referring to those who keep 6-8 months food on hand I don’t understand the purpose of that because my mind doesn’t work that way❤️

I have a entertainment recipe Coming day 1 of Vlogmas but it’s not with black beans which that goes give me an idea for a recipe for a crowd with them though!
Beans, pasta, anything really. I'm trying to work through everything, but I have issues with texture, weird I know. Like applesauce by itself it's a no for me but using it in baked goods is ok. I'm struggling lol. I either eat salads or canned soup everyday. I need help. 😫
We have a small stock pile (If you can even call it that lol) we just like to keep things on hand just in case shit hits the fan again, we have a chest freezer dedicated to frozen veggies & fruit and another dedicated to baking stuff and we have 2 SMALL pantries that we keep fairly stocked and honestly sometimes I think it’s too much but I have the flu, Jax has the flu, Allan is recovering from a really bad sinus infection and I’ve never been more grateful for my little stock pile. But hoarding, no. I think that’s just wrong. - don’t know why I felt the need to share but yeah I’m going to go back to the video now 😂
I think we all live differently ❤️ keeping what’s best for your family is great! But I also think pressuring others or creating fear, not great❤️ I think unfortunately the food hoarders have everyone fearing they HAVE to keep XYZ on hand and that’s just crazy to me because not everyone has that cash to stock up and not everyone mentally can do that nor wants to!
@@flourishingmiranda Absolutely!! I’ve always been a firm believer in ‘do what’s best for you and your family’ Ooh and I totally forgot to edit and add on I would LOVE to see a meal plan where sweet potatoes are the main starch.
I’m glad you said that about your mind not working around “ prepping”. I started watching too many prepping channels , buying a few extra things here and there, and now I find that the things I’m tripping over and trying to find room for, are making me more anxious. For some people the added clutter just isn’t worth it and it adds more pressure. Thanks!
You nailed it- not everyone is the same and THATS OK! I’m like you, I can’t have additional items around it feels cluttered and I don’t like it Instead i buy what we need, use it up and buy again! I’m not in a situation where I live in an area with natural disasters or I’m far from a grocery❤️ I don’t like the panic driven mindset most prepper channels bring so I stay away from them for my own sanity
Yum! Oh, dance like nobody's watching! Meal plan starch? Perhaps pasta or rice? I'm making that dip! And yes, a Vitamix is a game changer! I've had mine for over 8 years now!
I think for many it’s easier to make small meal plans than to stress about stocking up! And unfortunately if everyone would stock up, shortages would be INSANE! The supply chain would crumble
Personally, I don't like having too much on hand either. But I will stock up on something if it's a mega deal and it's already something I buy. One time my store had some large extra virgin olive oil on sale for $3. I bought 6 bottles and didn't have to buy olive oil for almost a year. Another time I bought like 25 organic bell peppers for $5! I cleaned them, cut them in half, and froze them. I like to throw them into soups and stews. I just can't pass up a good deal!
Oh those are amazing deals! I think it’s great if it works for those who do it but I think the majority of those who watch me are like me, they don’t keep a large stock pile! ❤️
@@flourishingmiranda I agree. Everyone is different and many of us probably fall right in the middle. Personally when I have too much on hand I get overwhelmed. I have ADHD so I end up forgetting what I have. Out of sight, out of mind 😂 plus not everyone has a large pantry and if someone is looking for budget friendly recipes it’s likely they don’t have a large pantry. I never did growing up.
This is exactly how I feel! If I have too much stuff in my home I’m over stimulated and I really dislike it! It feels cluttered and messy and it doesn’t help me at all! And I agree! I think many don’t have that expendable budget to over buy! I don’t know that many people who have a lot of items on hand, they’re just looking to get what they need for now
Ok, stopped video-check lol Amount to spend, $20. Main items, rice & beans (no curry). Warm dishes yes, but maybe a fun cold salad too? Or a rice/bean burger or anything fun and different, just to get the creative juices going.
I am a bit of a prepper in the way that I do shop in bulk stores & keep a backstock to save on things we use (and because where I grew up you truly did have to plan on not seeing a grocery store for a month or so at a time). But I do like your channel because sometimes you just have to use something up or try something new!! No offense taken at all! ❤️
Do you still have that as an issue being far from a grocery? Just curious! As someone who didn’t grow up or live under those circumstances it’s interesting for me to hear others “why” Again I have a family member who thinks I’m nuts for not keeping a stock pile- but she knows the world spins differently for everyone and she’s not offended by me ❤️
@@flourishingmiranda No I actually have 3 grocery stores within 5 miles, but I do see the value in keeping a back stock. In case of a job loss or injury (which has thankfully never happened to us), or in case of quarantine (or other natural occurrence like snowstorm or mild hurricane which make going to the store an awful experience - we just skip it). I also get a controlled level of feeling food-secure in a way that's not simply hoarding food that eventually goes bad because we actually eat what's there and rotate stock. When I go into my basement I feel like Scarlett O'Hara "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again." Of course if something truly terrible happened I may only last a few months, but I do forage & garden as hobbies, so as long as I've got scraps or seeds & my mobility perhaps I'd last a little longer. I totally agree though it's not for everyone, and I think my hobbies lend to it more than other folks. I can't imagine being "doomsday prepper" level though - that may not ever be for me.
Aww that’s exactly what my mind automatically jumps to, the dooms day preppers as you called them I think we all have a bit of “stock” on hand, intentionally or not. I joke I’m not a prepper but I have a pantry always full! It’s just not food that I’m holding on to for emergency it’s just what we have on hand We keep an emergency budget incase anything should happen, but I am not the planner who can have enough food on hand for emergency. Even with 2020 I didn’t really stock much up and I got a real hard time for it🤣🤷🏻♀️ I do think if you live in an area with natural disasters that’s very common! I’ve never really delt with that in my adult life based on where I’ve lived ❤️
Different people like different music styles just like some people like to have food on hand and others don’t. There isn’t a wrong way, it’s just life! Like your previous comment, I’m glad that worked for you but when I read it I saw it as a reason to have an emergency fund, not food on hand because that’s how my mind works to be prepared. Neither is wrong, we all just do and like different things!❤️
@@flourishingmiranda I love it. I agree with an emergency fund. However, I have no discipline and will be out shopping for a new Coach purse or Gucci purse if the funds are large enough. 😁😁😁
Hey yolo! No judgement here you spend your money however you’d like! And fun purchases ARE FUN! We work too hard to pay bills buy food and die sometimes we want fun things❤️
Hmm. Budget...I mean, as far as low budgets go, you've already hit 10-15 dollars for a week. And you've done 60 cent meals. Can you actually go lower than that and still keep the recipes interesting and tasty? As for ingredients, I'm entirely on board with mushrooms. Here's an idea. What about multiple ways to use the same prepared ingredient? Like, 5 ways to use sauteed veggies? Or 5 ways to use cooked sweet potato? Oh, sauces would be good too, or spice mixes, if you make/use those.
I try to do lots around the same $$ amounts and use the same ingredient over and over in new ways! Plus with ever changing inflation that $$$ marker shows a different spread of meals each time and it really is apparent when I look back at meal plans I made from 2 years ago!
I hope this meal plan leaves you lots of ideas and inspo for your own kitchen!

I’m like you, I can’t have additional items around it feels cluttered and I don’t like it
Instead i buy what we need, use it up and buy again! I’m not in a situation where I live in an area with natural disasters or I’m far from a grocery❤️
I don’t like the panic driven mindset most prepper channels bring so I stay away from them for my own sanity
I actually found my vitamix at a THRIFT STORE for $10!! Yaaassss it actually works!
That’s amazing!!! What a good find!
I used to love amazons food delivery. Its fab. But I now live in the sticks and they don't cover that area.
Having hurricane food storage is VERY different! That’s a necessity in many areas❤️
Yum! Oh, dance like nobody's watching! Meal plan starch? Perhaps pasta or rice? I'm making that dip! And yes, a Vitamix is a game changer! I've had mine for over 8 years now!
I love both ideas!!! I hope you had a fabulous thanksgiving friend!
@@flourishingmiranda we did! Hope yours was as good!
$15 black bean & rice ideas
With the holidays here, how about a $30 to $50 budget for the week. We like splurging a little more this time year.
Main ingredient being mushrooms!
I love it! It's a very realistic budget vs extreme!!!
I would love to see 4-5 meals for 2 people with $20-$25 and main ingredient of pinto beans. Please and thank you!
I would like your next meal plan to revolve around mushrooms. 🍄😃
Ohhhh! My husband would love that!!
I agree Miranda! This is way better than stocking up.
Favorite potato, Yukon gold for sure. Best flavor and texture. They get nice ad creamy and smooth. But come on, all potatoes rock.
I’ve had my Vitamix for 10 years, most definitely worth the investment!
$20 is a great budget!!! I’m working on a little list and adding everyone’s ideas!
As someone who didn’t grow up or live under those circumstances it’s interesting for me to hear others “why”
Again I have a family member who thinks I’m nuts for not keeping a stock pile- but she knows the world spins differently for everyone and she’s not offended by me ❤️
@@flourishingmiranda No I actually have 3 grocery stores within 5 miles, but I do see the value in keeping a back stock.
Aww that’s exactly what my mind automatically jumps to, the dooms day preppers as you called them
I think we all have a bit of “stock” on hand, intentionally or not. I joke I’m not a prepper but I have a pantry always full! It’s just not food that I’m holding on to for emergency it’s just what we have on hand
We keep an emergency budget incase anything should happen, but I am not the planner who can have enough food on hand for emergency. Even with 2020 I didn’t really stock much up and I got a real hard time for it🤣🤷🏻♀️
I do think if you live in an area with natural disasters that’s very common! I’ve never really delt with that in my adult life based on where I’ve lived ❤️
Chickpeas budget 20
Love it! Count on me I’ll do it!
Loving the positive upbeat music. The other music made me feel like an old lady and uninspired.
$20.00 budget for two weeks, main ingredient PASTA!
Ohhhh! That’s a cutting budget but I bet I could do it now! In 2020 that was an easy marker!
