I can say I became a Scrum Master without actually preparing or studing for it. I started doing manual QA, and we realize that I was good at facilitating, coaching and helping the team achieve results. So that mutated almost naturally into a proper Scrum Master role and later into a Product Owner. I had a lot of customer service experience that gave me the soft skills and an organizational mindset that helped me on day to day tasks. As it turned out, we as a team put our stakeholders babysitting app as #1 on the App Store for sometime. This was for software company in LA where I stayed in the role for about 4 years. Not bad for a Scrum Master without the tittle. So yes, it’s possible!
LOVE THIS STORY! Many Scrum Masters get their start by just starting to fulfill the accountability without being told or asked. With hard work, continuous learning, and adapting as you grow, it can certainly yield positive results. Thanks for sharing your story @SantiagoGuida !
