Dude, you are a natural at explaining and instructing as well as demonstrating things on video. I am a new subscriber who loves your channel, your personality. Any career in teaching or instructing would benifit from your presence. Take care dude,be well and careful out there, hello to your friends as well.
Those dudes need to watch a bunch more TH-cam scrapper vids to be efficient like Thub! No one should ruin a $5 blade to get out $1.50 steel rim or disassemble a furnace for an hour for 50¢ worth of brass and aluminum. Lots to learn! You were so kind and patient to help them, Thub!🙂👍
Much as 50% the point of your channel is how we enjoy the highs and lows of the adventure of theorycrafting what we would've done with your haul instead of what you did... 200 in a bundle for all those DVDs is a huge win for you. 1 transaction and they're out the door. There is a gold star when you get something done in 1 single step. Even just the conversation you'd have to have to break it into just 2 transactions is a significant step up in hassle. But any time you can get rid of 400 things where the only conversation is "Yes or No?" instead of "What if, could I, how about, maybe I'll, I'll see if..." no. Yes or no, all of it. Yes? Then that's an A+ move.
Always nice to know some people get where I’m coming from! It was quick, it was clean, and I’m a big chunk better off than I was the day before. The fact that I could maybe have made a bunch more over the course of the week is irrelevant, I’m not trying to be a movie store lol
There’s so much scrap metal where you are, I’m a full time builder and collect scrap metal like steel, copper, stainless etc but here in the UK scrap metal gets taken within an 20 minutes of it getting put out😂
I bundle them based on reading their preferences and give them away to people who just had major surgery, because when it happened to me that’s one thing I do remember wanting.
I know this video is old, but love the extra comedy in this video dealing with your buddies. Should definitely sprinkle in more videos with friends every so often. Bunch of goofballs
Beginner scrappers are so cute. Lol Reminds me a little of when you were new to the game. In my exp. those are the concepts new scrappers struggle with. Volume, time, storage, separation, etc.
If ya come on more commercial sanke beer kegs in the future, it's fairly easy to pop out the valves (called a "spear") from the top without using up a griding wheel or two on the stainless! They're held in either as a screw in fitting which fits most prybar if you wedge it in and use it like a big screwdriver (old school), or on newer ones all use a spring clip you can pop out with a little fiddling with a small flat screwdriver and a pick. Slight tuen to line up the tabs with the sloy and out it comes! worked at a brewery without a sanke fitting keg washer or counterpressure keg filling equipment a few years back so got real good at taking kegs apart to clean em!
Oh I haven’t seen that one! I actually haven’t explored his work at all, I’m just getting interested in who directed what and digging through what they’ve made. I’ll check it out, might have a new favourite director 👌
Goonies! Must! Rescue! Goonies! (LOL) Dude, you hit the motherlode. I figured Thub would sell those in bulk to someone who does fleas, probably for about .25 each. CND$200 sounds like a good payday on a zero investment.
Ive been a ebay reseller for over 20 years. What you got is about what I found at an apartment complex where I lived years ago. I never sold disc media before that. I listed all the sealed ones and horror. They sold super fast in comparison to the "smalls" I usually sold. Many years later, average 3500 listings, 80% are disc media, 700 books, and the rest small items. I am in the US so shipping is $4 average on a disc media item (I do free shipping). Since that haul is why I went from $25K-ish p/y in gross to almost 10 times that amount (2023) - media sells fast.
📌Well I don't think I'm going to tell you again but obviously that last place is close to your home because you were able to run and get a broom real quick so I don't understand why you didn't leave them a flyer so this way you won't have to do all that work of digging. It's much easier to buy somebody lunch that will just give you a phone call and say hey come get those before I put it in the dumpster. You might be leaving it better than you found it but you're also working harder than You should 🤣
Maybe you can make an exoskeleton out of the extruded aluminum. Just a thought. Then you can be better than you were before. I like your content. I have five acres that I’m scrapping slowly. I’ve learned a lot about is it worth it
Oh I absolutely wanted to! It was a genuinely excellent collection that would take years to build. I just couldn’t see myself rearranging my living room to fit a wall of movies in lol
It’s been on my want list for so long and it just keeps going up, I can’t justify spending that kinda cash on a little square of plastic! It felt like a pretty slick win to take that title home haha
Dvd and bluray are good to have! As I re-watch shows, I've noticed that a few scenes are edited and some are missing entirely from when I watched them a year or so ago. It occurred to me that as more and more things become "offensive", our purchased shows and movies from our streaming services and it's possible they will become more and more edited. So I've been ramping up my dvd/bluray collection. Also because I went looking for "Poolhall Junkies" and could only find between $50-120. NOW is the time to collect these!
It’s very true, streaming services can’t be relied on and between “updated” releases and titles being stuck in ownership purgatory, I think physical movies still have a future not unlike vinyl records today
Thub you should try and get a bunch of general contractors numners so when they pull out metal of a project, they can set it aside for you. Instead of digging through thousands of pounds of trash it will be in a nice pile.
At the risk of sounding like a snob, that's a sewage treatment facility. Water treatment plants are generally on the upstream side of a city, sewage plants downstream. Edit: that wasn't a legitimate sewage site on those wires. Additionally, this is a multifaceted video and I admire your perseverance with the mountain of debris atop the aluminium
It's time for komments and kwestions from Kathryn. Where the hell is the truck?? Who's going to pay for the cat? What's the update on the kar project? What was the total number of DVDs? If you want to feel something - despair - watch Aniara. As great as last week was, this is my kind of Thub video. I am so envious of your fan person getting to meet the real Thub in real life. Where and how is Sydney? Hi, Sydney! How much did you get for that big pile o' aluminum? That's probably enough. Oh - no. I look forward to your closing and you missed it today. Have a great weekend, Thub!
Oh my that’s quite an update haha! The truck is in limbo, diagnosis is worse than initially expected and now I need to go rescue it, will update when I have more to share. I miss Sydney. I like doing these videos too, adventures are always fun! I’ll look that movie up, it could be my jam. Despair is part of the human experience and while not the most fun, it can bring comfort to us in darker times to not have to feel alone in that experience
The S-10 I bought blew up a week after I bought it. Luckily it was my friend and he didn’t honor the deal and gave me my money back. He can sell it by parting it out for more than I paid him and I even offered to help with that. So I found a Toyota Camry that couldn’t be passed up but I said I wouldn’t use it for scrapping. I hauled off 240 pounds of prepared #1, 21 pounds of insulated wire, 7 pounds of motherboards from a server, 5 pounds of copper/aluminum condensers, 41 pounds of sealed units/compressors, and 6 pounds of breakage to my scrapyard today. 🤣 Made $75 US. I still have 300+ pounds of shred IDK what to do with, as I can’t keep doing that to Sterling (I named the Camry Sterling as he is rather refined for his age.)
I dig your content bro! That said, being the ever fastidious one, I ask you, have you ever calculated your per hour profit? I’m guessing whatever you get from the yards, minus the time gathering and processing should get you pretty close. Do it for science if nothing else. Haha. I subbed homie. Lastly, you do an amazing job being extemporaneous.
I feel like you could prolly work out a deal to take their scrap from them since it reduces their trash a good amount (as long as you take all the scrap).
I would ebay the shit out of the entire pile, horror and sci fi are some decent sales items. Order a box of bubble mailers and spend a few hours listing and use stock photos.
