Why manufacturers are putting the legs on the end now, maybe to make them more stable? But it's got to be costing them sales. My tv stand is supposed to hold up to a 65" and the way the legs are on some TVs I'm not so sure. Thankfully I can also hang my tv so that's what I did and it looks awesome!
The legs are not an issue. I have a 55 inch in my bedroom high up on top of a entrainment cabinet. There is no way do I want the grandchild to bump this and have the tv fall off. Even it is was lower down I don’t have an issue with a good wide stand. I don’t think it is over size I don’t think you will have a problem getting this to fit on a cabinet. I do think the legs should not go beyond the left and right side edge. But front to back is fine. We are very happy with with this tv moved up from a 48 inch to the 55 inch.
Underrated comment! There have been at least 3 TVs I've passed up because I don't want to wall mount it and my stand/entertainment system is only 47" wide.
I got mine at Best Buy in late May and couldn't be happier. I have zero banding on mine. And if I did I'd have taken it back for another one until I got one that made me happy. From the two years of research I did banding is a thing dating way back on LCD TVs. You can barely see it unless it's really bad and that's only on solid colors or still images. How often do we watch the color red or blue or green? Not very often. It's also one of those things that unless you know what you're looking for you probably won't even be aware of it. How many people in your town drove your model of car until you did? The picture on this is incredible. Blacks are deep and inky. Colors are beautiful. Vibrant and rich. It has Roku built in. Full array back lighting. HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The list of features goes on and on. Bottom line is this is an incredible TV that has a ton of features with performance that rivals TVs that cost twice as much. Read the other reviews online from the tech websites that have tested it with their equipment. Buy it. You'll love it.
Jimbomania I have this tv and have noticed the banding issue. However, everything else is quite impressive and for the price I can live with the banding issue. The picture quality really is impressive.
Leny Herrera I agree the picture quality is very impressive and if the banding doesn't bother you then you're set. Enjoy. I'm really looking forward to football season!
I bought this TV for my bedroom and I bought a Samsung for one over the fireplace both 55 inches..I honestly think I like the TCL a bit more..and the price difference makes me love it more..I still own a Panasonic VT60 plasma that you will have to kill me to pry it. One thing is that I find the audio on the TCL to be much better over the new Samsung but the VT60 is still even better but for the 2k or so I paid then for it the TCL is easily best bang for the buck..
This TV is the best for HDR gaming! God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn are both jawdropping. It's cheap, durable and expensive looking. The local dimming is fantastic for people that don't want burn in from OLED. The sound is pretty good but I recommend a Soundbar and Subwoofer for maximum performance. You won't need a new TV for 10 years if you get this.
Will J Yeah it's a great tv for gaming because it has low input lag like my Vizio d series. I'd like to sell mine and go with this instead. Seems like an awesome tv.
Cool will get it for the Ps4pro im about to get. Currently using the Q6f for my Xbox one X to play Red dead Redemption 2 and it looks phenomenal. Hopefully this tv wow me in the same with the Pro!
I'll take vertical banding anyday than those expensive samsung with bad hdr and black content. And for that price? People really always find some issues.
I have this, got it last year for my 33rd birthday to use primarily with my gaming pc and also use the apps built into it aside from consoles. It is really good for the price that it was purchased for. plus its 55 inches..well 54 diagnally to be exact. Also the legs can be inverted so they can work on smaller tables.
Mine has no banding the only thing that I dont know about is when I'm on the home screen the corners have like a bright light? Like reverse vingetting? But when I'm on ps4 or an input everything looks perfect?? Normal??
Pics on the dark corners or it didn't happen. The manufacturing design ensures the corners will be slightly darker on every TCL TV. Please upload pics, because you're talking out your arse.
Best buy version vs others. Is the remote (IR vs WiFi) the only difference? Wifi does have the weakness of eating batteries so at times it is a hassle but not needing line of site is nice too. But is that the only difference in the two 65" 6 series TVs?
Can anyone tell me why the Samsung mu6300 has almost doubled in price from one year ago? I bought one 2-14-2018 for $430. Right now it's $750 ! Am I in some kind of alternate universe?
I have this exact TV, the 75” version, it’s a great TV and I highly recommend it. Only thing that sucks is I purchased mine when it very first got released at Best Buy for $1800, the price now is $1300. Cheers, Davyo
What does theWifi Remote in the 617 model offer that the Line Of Sight Remote in the 615 model has offer the user? You made this reference at 2:27 when buying the 615 model from BestBuy.
The 617 remote uses RF not IR and therefore you can use it from any angle or even not pointing it at the TV. It also has voice controls and a headphone jack which the 615 is missing from its remote
I just bought this at Best Buy with my Amex because they extend it one year. Amex also offers 120 days purchase protection against theft and damage would that include defects like banding, broken pixels, dirty screen and just breaking down within the 120 days?
I have a 6 series and use a Samsung Hw-K950 Atmos soundbar. Even with the audio delay set to 0ms on the soundbar, the audio comes slightly after the video. Wish TCL would come out with an update to fix this issue
Also the 55R615 version from Best Buy does NOT come with a smart remote with a microphone per the specs and the pics of the remote on the product page.... And it doesn't work with Alexa? Really... This was a deal-breaker for me.
So the only difference between the 615 and the 617 is the remote? If I buy a 617 remote will that turn the 615 into a 617? I hope that's not to confusing a question. I would like to buy from Best Buy in case there are any problems. Thank you!
Got the R615 from Best buy. Mine has no banding that I've noticed but it has noticeable corner vignetting. Pretty disappointed...and might return, although repacking and returning a 65 inch is a huge hassle.
What about connecting it to a Sony surround sound system? I’m currently hooked up to DirectV and all my components go through the Sony system. Everything work okay that way?
@@bobbis1492 oh I saw that offer too. I didn't want to get it just because of the refurbished thing. But I'm new here in the US and maybe refurbished doesn't mean something bad here.
Just one question as I look at the corners of this TV I can see black colour on all the four sides of the TV is it supposed to be like that I mean that is there a fault in this TV? Regarding the display.
Can you make the tv go straight to an input (where it left off before powered off) without going through the menu? Looking at buying, but want to use an amazon cube.
What's comparable in the 4 Series line to this model in the video review? I'm looking for a 49 inch or smaller but not smaller than a 43 inch. I had 43 inch Roku TV that died on me (vertical double imaging was occurring, tried replacing the T-Con board on it and it didn't fix the issue) and it was past my warranty. I like Roku's TVs so much that I'm willing to get another one.
There isn't anything comparable to the 6-Series with the 4-Series. The 49" 4-Series (doesn't get very bright) is currently $319.99 or you could buy a 49" 5-Series (quite a bit brighter then the 4-Series) for $399.99 that is more comparable to the 6-Series as it has Dolby Vision and a Wide Color Gamut but no local dimming. But just as with the 6-Series, you have to be aware that the 5-Series also varies quite significantly from set to set with regards to vertical banding and dirty screen effect.
Jessie Bristol The 4 Series doesn't support Dolby Vision? So just HDR10 then, right? It's for a bedroom where the brightness capabilities is not really a concern cause most of the viewing would be at night or with the lights off. What worries me a little are these panels. My last one crapped out but like I said in the prior comment I like these TVs for their budget and ease of function.
Should I buy the TCL 55" 6 series for $500 or the Vizio 55" P series for $700 or even the Samsung 55" Nu8000 for $700? The TCL being a native 60hz panel is a disappointment while the Vizio and Samsung are native 120hz panels and the Samsung has FreeSync (variable refresh rate) and Auto Low Latency Mode which is good for my Xbox1X! I am really confused which TV to buy on Thursday! I'm leaning towards the Samsung just because of quality!
Greg Sieracki the P series 👌🏼 way better imo .. the smart system with TCL is better but otherwise P series to me is better . I returned my TCL 6 series for the Vizio P series .
@@hafysthatruth6851 thanks but I already bought the Samsung 55" nu8000 because it was on sale for $699 at BJ's when the regular price is $879 and the Samsung has a great gaming mode (ALLM) plus FreeSync 2 and it's a 120hz panel like the Vizio but Samsung's quality and quality control is better! I did buy a 32" Vizio back in 2007 for $600 and my mother bought a 40" Sony for $1,600 and only the Sony still works! I went through 2 Vizio's!
You need to download the Roku app on your phone/tablet to access a more advanced calibration beyond the basics of the on-screen. Wifi and ethernet port are both included.
Can you please review TCL P8e series (50 or 55 inch), specially focused on Picture quality and Audio) in this budget compared to other brands available in similar budget
I own this tv and it’s fantastic. My only nightmare was the ordering/shipping process through amazon. It took over a month to arrive and even then it kept getting delayed, I don’t notice the banding on my tv but like he said it varies. The HDR is amazing (madden blew me away and the water in Sea of Thieves are breathtaking). I highly recommend this (bought the 65”)
@@darrenperez2040 That's a tricky one. I'd probably go with the 65" for most people. The local dimming is great on my r615 don't get me wrong. Basically better blacks or bigger size.
Never heard of dirty screen. What is that ? Dark screen not vibrant, etc ? What is binding etc. I hate back stuff love right side stuff. Love recessed side ones like my little 1st ever not smart flat tv. I wish you have included link to the tv to know piece etc too. Feel luke changing to things down, cuz of that only. Probably not available anymore, but maybe i can google it for old websites info listings hopefully like found for other things or black Friday of last yr I missed out on sadly. Oh ok u explained banding, etc nvm on that complaint.
From my understanding yes, unless you get one that has been on the shelf for 6 months... They had a few bad lots of randomly bad screens from what I read.
I have a question. Does amazon have the 75 inch tcl series 6 from best buy. Like do you know if they do carry it cause we are looking to get the 65 inch tv and I dont want an inferred remote
Can you please comment on how the TV shows gradients of color? I am finding on certain shots, (sky, space etc) that the color gradient is not smooth...you can see clear breaks in the gradient looked very choppy. is this correct?
It's region locked. I'm from The Bahamas and found out through trial and error. You'll have to sign up for a new roku account using a US address in order to get it. Then reset your TV to factory defaults and then sign in using the newly registered account.
Purchased the 55” at Best Buy 4 Days ago for my son to go with his XBOX X and today when we turned it on we have just colored vertical lines. The intensity of the lines increase every time we press the arrow buttons on the remote. Weird. Going back to BB to exchange it. I’m willing to chalk this up to an unlucky faulty model. Fingers Crossed.
Audio question...does anyone know if the audio on the TCL can be switched (via menu) to PCM? What that would allow me to do is use my Classic Marantz Dolby Pro-Logic Receiver directly to the TV so I could pump the TV sound out my Marantz and to the 5-surround sound speakers. My current 2011 Plasma does NOT have the PCM switch ability option.
To comment on the legs: Yeah it looks goofy, but the fact they ended up being reversible meant that it fit on my entertainment stand, which is a stand better suited for televisions that rest on middle stands versus the legs. Plus, I put a sound bar in front of the television so you really don't see the legs anyway, but I can see that being an issue for people who use different setups.
True, you were to review the tv after the launch. I have been refreshing your page on a daily basis to no avail, let us see how it goes. Currently at 0.16 seconds
Aright koo so every tv model that was made after converting to digital signal comes with a converter built . idk know that was a law LOL damn i have not bought a tv in a long time as u can tell 😁 but im leaning towards this one
@@jrox1904 I too am also leaning towards this TV as I programmed a smaller 40" TCL TV for a friend of mine. I connected it to the aerial antenna, and it gets all of the local broadcast channels just fine. I was very impressed with the Roku system.
IM shopping around for a new k4 I'm a Samsung fan and the sled tech is very impressive but all the reviews keep sending me to this TCL tv that I have never heard of before yesterday. All the tech inside this tv makes it very appealing only thing that's keeping me from buying now is they have no 82" models and not sure I want to switch my 75 for a 75. I'll have to see for myself theses tv at the store before I pull the trigger as this is for my new theatre set up. So many good and not so good comments can't trust the internet anymore...
I would love this tv in my bedroom but alas, it's too small. So I'm going to buy the 49 inch for my bedrom and wall mount it. Eventually, I may buy the 55 or 65" for my living room.
I went ahead and purchase this TV and I have some buyer's remorse. I was hoping it would improve upon my Samsung black levels and yet I do not know when watching a movie like men in black or the newer Batman is why everything in black remains so indistinct and not clear. A perfect example would be if someone wears a black tux you cannot see the outline of the tux or any of the buttons still. I would be most grateful if someone would please send a reply to us all for where to fix the black levels on this TV. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to do Voice Search on the cheesy cheap remote it gives you.
Unfortunately you need to "accept" that this is a 600 dollar tv. Its like a car that has been around for centuries vs another car new into the market. The new car likely won't have as refined suspension system. Same in this situation.
Thank you for your excellent analysis and review. I wonder what TV would be missing the vignette eating and the banding and be close in price...in short what would the next budget level up be in your opinion please? I long for a budget TV where in the movie Batman I see more than just his eyes and teeth. Lately I judge a TV by how well it does with black Tuxedos and if I can see the lapels or buttons.
JesusSavedJoshua great thoughts and consider the source too. By that I mean an Xbox is a great system but it doesn't have the color processing of a dedicated 4K player to help separate those black levels. Not always the TV's fault. I'm speaking from experience because I'm using the Xbox now and compared to a dedicated 4K player it's merely ok for playing movies.
You can invert the stand legs and it works perfectly and is just as stable. Cuts down quite a bit on space it takes up.
The TCL logo on the bottom bezel does not light up. The letters are just shiny metal contrasting against the dark gray of the entire bezel. Also the legs do not extend beyond the sides of the TV. However they do reach nearly to the sides.
Why most TV manufacturers are currently using widely separated legs makes no sense and makes some consumers not buy their TVs. A central stand similar to the 2017 Sony XBR series is the most practical and doesn't require new furniture or having to purchase a third party stand to mount in the VESA holes.

🤷♂️ I cant make use of the Dolby Vision HDR much so with that said, how does the HDR10 compare to that of the series 4 HDR10 from TCL?
How about if it don't have power switch.and no remote.
Roku app on your phone.
Greg Sieracki nice !!! Thats dope ! & dang I love my tv it’s pretty dope I just hope mine last. 🤞 Thanks for the info !
Can you calibrate the colors? Does it have separate color/brightness/contrast settings per input? Is it wired or wireless to access the internet?
You need to download the Roku app on your phone/tablet to access a more advanced calibration beyond the basics of the on-screen. Wifi and ethernet port are both included.
I got the german version with android and i'm not so happy with the os 😑
maxthesseling I would buy that---#kodi
What's wrong with it? Is it sluggish?
Please tell me more about the TV.
Can you do the new Hisense TV
What make/model is your TV Stand?
Can you please review TCL P8e series (50 or 55 inch), specially focused on Picture quality and Audio) in this budget compared to other brands available in similar budget
Great review!.
Does all the 6 series has banding issues?
does this tv work with apple tv?
I own this tv and it’s fantastic. My only nightmare was the ordering/shipping process through amazon. It took over a month to arrive and even then it kept getting delayed, I don’t notice the banding on my tv but like he said it varies. The HDR is amazing (madden blew me away and the water in Sea of Thieves are breathtaking). I highly recommend this (bought the 65”)
Kevin Wyatt Do you have an Xbox One X? Thinking of getting the 55” of this TV for my X, would you recommend it?
RandomShinigami7 highly recommended it. I bought the one X with this in mind. I own the 65”
Madden and sea of thieves? Why don't you try real games like GOW, Spiderman, MLB The Show, HZD, Detroit, Days Gone? Oh that's right you can't.
So you have two options.
1) Step up
or
2) Step down to a TCL 5 or 4 series TV. All are decent units.
55 tcl 6 series is $500 or
65 tcl 4 series is $500.
Which one to buy?
I don’t have any banding but some very minor vignetting. So minor that you have to really look for it. I’m very pleased with the purchase.
are these good for ps4 pro? or any gaming for that matter. and also is it good for watching football. with no motion blur.
Has TCL fixed the banding issue yet?? I want one.
From my understanding yes, unless you get one that has been on the shelf for 6 months... They had a few bad lots of randomly bad screens from what I read.
Vizio never had stupid shit like that happen
@@samlove6452 Vizio also doesn't have Roku
roku is superior to Chromecast which Vizio uses..
Caleb are any of the BJ's Tv any good like the TCL 65R613?
Couldn't find the Dolby Channel mentioned at 3:43. Anyone ?
It's region locked. I'm from The Bahamas and found out through trial and error. You'll have to sign up for a new roku account using a US address in order to get it. Then reset your TV to factory defaults and then sign in using the newly registered account.
What are those gray fabric covered speakers to the left and right?
At a glance they look like Golden Ear Tritons.
Any info . On tcl roku 65S 421 hdr 4k on pic. Settings ?
Purchased the 55” at Best Buy 4 Days ago for my son to go with his XBOX X and today when we turned it on we have just colored vertical lines. The intensity of the lines increase every time we press the arrow buttons on the remote. Weird. Going back to BB to exchange it. I’m willing to chalk this up to an unlucky faulty model. Fingers Crossed.
David Lara any updates on the tv? I’m scared to buy one now lol
Yes it does its 8 months later but roku TVs usually let you switch between pcm, Dolby ,Dolby+ and dts through optical or hdmi arc
What is the distance between the feet if you invert them on a 55"? Has anyone tried the TV with a 3rd party table top stand?
The TCL logo can be turned off.
how?
@@dd.4910 oh yeah, thats important...
is there much bloom or light bleed in black with this TV?
Jacob Sample No. Just the dirty screen effect and vertical banding
I saw a Spotify app on the tv during this review! I thought Spotify was pulled from Roku and hasn’t been re-released. What am I missing?!
Shown at 3:42
Would i need an antenna or tv converter to watch basic tv on this TV or the 2017 version of this
To watch basic tv, all you need is an antenna. The digital tuner is already built in, as all TVs by law must have them.
What's the name of the 4k channel , I cant find it
How is the viewing angle?
I had to return 2 of these to Best Buy because the screen froze up with green and white stripes on both of them.
Tv review is great.. What brand are the vintage speakers?
The speakers are actually brand new! The brand is klipsch
www.klipsch.com/products/forte-iii
Where should I buy it?
I would love this tv in my bedroom but alas, it's too small. So I'm going to buy the 49 inch for my bedrom and wall mount it. Eventually, I may buy the 55 or 65" for my living room.
This is very helpful. Do you expect there to be any issue if I buy this from Best Buy, see excessive banding and ask to exchange it?
Shouldn't be any issue exchanging.
@@nametaken24 no issues with exchanging but it's a pain in the ass to exchange a 75 inch TV
Same in this situation.
does roku work with direct tv
How activate the voice command?
