This video was EXACTLY what I needed! I have had my cameo for almost a year and only do print and cut stickers cause I've been so intimidated to even try vinyl (dumb I know) but this video has given me the confidence to buy some practice vinyl and get started. I really think you should add something about beginners to the title as it could help others find this awesome video. great content becky you're def the best at explaining things!
Hi. I am a new cameo 4 plus owner..and I love love all your videos..very detailed and easy to follow..I cannot thank you enough..your voice is so friendly (it is like I am talking to a friend). Stay safe. Virtual hugs. 🤗
Hey Eden! I'm so happy to have made a new virtual friend! Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! Hugs right back at you ---Becky
I have been so frustrated wondering why the svg file I made in illustrator was not able to be opened in Silhouette Studio. You gave me the answer at 9:23 that because I am using the free version I can't use svg but instead use dxf. Of ALLL the videos I have watched trying to figure this out, you are the only one to help. THANK YOU!
This video was so helpful, I've had the silhouette and never tried to shop outside of the store, it felt complicated, this helped me out so much, and with your help I did it thank you!!!!
This video helped a lot I have had my cameo for 3 months and just could not get it to work right. I just bought the business program and waiting to get it. The main reason I bought is to do logos for shirts. Thank you so much.
I'm loving the autotrace feature for PNGs! (not sure if it's new) (in case anyone doesn't have it automatically enabled: Edit-Preferences-Import-PNG-Autotrace)
Hey Becky. This has helped understand different types of files. Thanks for that. But do you have a video or help when you saving your files and want to put on a flash drive so does not take space up on computer. Do you save both png and svg or one over the other or???? LOL I just want to free up space but not delete anything I might need in the future. Hope this makes some sense. Thanks for all the videos you have made. Your my number one go to.
Great video thank you. My problem is when I have designed a line drawing and bring in as a png file I get a two line cut. I have not duplicated the cut line. It doesn’t happen with a purchased image. Can you help please.
Hello, Just watched this video. Thank you. I have a cameo 4 and I can't open the dxf files. It always asks what app do you want to use to open this? I'm using the free software and working on a PC. How do I open the dxf?
Hey Joela! You will be able to open DXF files, but you will open them from within Silhouette Studio. So once you have the software open, go to File > Open and find your file there. Then you shouldn't have any problems at all. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great video! I learned alot! I have a quick question. I spelled out the words "Happy Birthday" I grouped them, and I want to upload them to Design Space to cut. Do I need the Business Edition in order to convert to a SVG? I currently have the free basic edition because I'm learning how to use this program. Thank you so much for your time.
Great question Martha! So yes and no. To move it easily to Design Space, yes, you'll want to upgrade to Business Edition. If you want to try it out a few times beforehand, you can go to a website called Ideas R Us, they have a Studio to SVG converter. So you'll just save as a Studio and convert it, then save from the website back to your computer as an SVG, then upload it. It's quite a few steps but will let you figure out if that is what you want to do or not. I have a video that might help down below. Hope this helps! ---Becky th-cam.com/video/U_aXLOZ1D1Q/w-d-xo.html
@@DesignBundles Thank you Becky. I actually bought the Business Edition this morning. I was able to design something easy, save it as a SVG and upload it to Design Space!
Hello I'm new 2 silhouette & I've spent the last 7days trying 2 figure out how 2 separate a svg of a little girl wit bows in her hair.. I'm using basic edition so u just explained why I get the not supported message when trying 2 import my svg. I have been using the dfx file but I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO SEPERATE THE FACE (EYES MOUTH EARS) & GROUP THEM TOGETHER SO I CAN CUT VINYL BY COLOR. CAN U PLEASE DO A VIDEO LIKE THIS WITH A PERSON IMAGE? SHOWING HOW 2 SEPARATE THE FACE EYES NOSE EARS. & GROUP THEM SINCE THEY ARE VERY SMALL. THANK U SOO VERY MUCH

I have bought my first bundle from design bundles when I go to the design it says the file type you are attempting is not supported. What am I doing wrong? I have designer edition
Hi, I have a PNG that has mostly words. When I import it into SS it shows all red cut lines (rather than a whole picture). I have business edition. How do I not get the red cut lines to show? I don't want to cut it... just design in SS. Thanks
Hello Juliana! It sounds like the file may still be in the zip folder or you are using Basic Edition. If you are using Basic Edition the SVG file will not open and you will need to use the DXF file for Silhouette.
Hi Becky, I purchased the Business edition and wanted to ask about which file type is best to work with? Does one file type give better results? Thanks!
Great question Alejandra! You cannot save a file from Silhouette Studio into the DXF format. There are several online converters though, that you can upload the SVG and turn it into a DXF. There are also several softwares that will do this for you, but I'm not familiar enough with them to make a recommendation. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hey Tammy! I haven't purchased Winzip, so I'm not sure that you need it? Perhaps it depends on what version of Window you are using. Sorry I can't be more help. ---Becky
My apologies I am not seeing that any vinyl was used in this video. The type of vinyl you will want to use depends on what material you are using it on.
Hi Becky, I am a beginner and would like to change the font on a png file. Is that possible? Fyi, I have become a new member to DB and have purchased to many bundles (excited) for a beginner!!! Please help.
Great question Nancy! Unless you need an SVG file to use with a different program (Cricut, Glowforge, etc) then no, there's no reason to pay the extra for SVG when the Studio file from the Design Store will work just fine for your project. Hope this helps! ---Becky
