From TirthaHalli, the route via Tarikere -Bhadra sanctuary & Dam - Hosadurga - Vanivilas dam - Hiriyur - Blore route is also very good. Less traffic & smooth drive. Takes lesser time compared to Belur route.
Kripal I would like to suggest one more Route which you have not yet explored I believe . Its Karkala > Bajagoli ( you can reach Ujire from this place by diverting ) > Mala Gate > S.K Border ( Sringeri Koppa Border ) . ( you can divert To Sringeri from here ) to > Samse > Kalasa ( you can divert to Kottigehara > Mudigere from here ) to Magundi > Aldur > Kadur > Bangalore . This entire stretch Passes through Kuduremukh Reserve Forest . And Coffee estate after Samse Forest gate . You can visit Tea estate if You divert From Madungi towards Balehonnur . Hornadu temple is also nearby . You can watch Sahyadri mountain range throughout your journey . Off course there are no such attractive eateries to shoot vedios . Now its Rainy season and best time to visit .
@shishirs2007 Baison , Deer , Various types of Snakes , King cobra are common in this Road / Area . Especially Near Lakya Dam area , Ganesh Temple . There is a Forest Camp in Bhagavathi forest . One should be very careful in this area . Few people make Vedio shooting also here . Which is very dangerous .
@@KripalAmannaVlogs Absolutely right. Green fresh air is a must after the hot summer months .... It's still raining here, and will last till the month of August first or second week ... is it still raining there?
Getting to the spot to watch the sunset or spotting a king cobra are unforgettable memories. I recall our van being unable to climb the steep road following one of the hairpin bends and the driver having to jump out to find a rock to shove under the rear tire to prevent the van from falling into the ravine. It is definitely not for the faint-of-the-heart.
Hi Kripal. Thanks a ton for sharing this route. I shall definitely give it a try. Recently drove down from Belgaum to Mangalore taking the Khanapur-Bhagvati-Yellapur-Sirsi-Kumta Axis. The first 3 places were a torture to drive, given the road conditions full of pot holes and craters. But the ghat section was a respite and a treat to drive.
In Agumbe > at few Kilometer distence there is place called KUNDADRI . This place is again mesure a height of Agumbe . At its top there is Jain temple around 1000 years old , well maintained , good architecture . You can watch a very beutiful Landscape from this height . May be 1500 > 2000 Ft ASL . The road / Area is protected by Forest Dpt . Visitors allowed from 9 Am to 4 pm . Nothing except Forest . Steep climbing , Motorable road . Must visit .
Thanks so much. I used to drive up the Agumbe Ghats in the early 1980's on my motorcycle, while I was a student at Manipal. Great memories. Woody, South Africa
Dear Kripal, I live in west now and visit India once every 6 months. I am from Mangaluru while my in-laws live in Shimoga. So, I hire a car and drive on Agumbe ghat at least twice every time. There used to be a gaadi restaurant just before the Agumbe end of the ghat after hte forest department check post. He used to prepare very very nice goli baje(Mangaluru bajji).
Actually after Aldur you take right then you come to place called Handi from there 6km to place called baskal(mudigere belur route2) is single lane. I used to take this route from Brahmavar to BTM 2nd stage. Totally its 410Km.
Thank you, Amigo, for driving around and showing us the beautiful forest and ghat drive. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and we truly appreciated your efforts. We love it. Take care, stay safe, and be blessed!

This is the best route to South Goa from Bengaluru. Its best if you leave Bengaluru early in the morning but I had left around noon on my bike. Sunset happened right when I was at the agumbe view point. It was a pretty scary route till kundapura as it was pitch dark inside deep jungle. Managed to reach South Goa around midnight. Nice memories from December 2021.
Hello Kripal! This is your fan from Pune..I am watching your travel and food videos since last few months. You make excellent videos with amazing description about the places in South India. Kripal, another fantastic vlog! I took the Agumbe route last year and it was every bit as scenic as you captured. The steepness definitely gets the adrenaline pumping! Loved your pit stops at Sri Sathyanarayana and Khandya - those are some hidden gems. Your comparison of Agumbe vs. Sampaje/Shiradi/Charmadi is super helpful for folks planning trips to this area. I've done those other ghats too, and it's great to have your insights on the differences. 👍 Keep the Jimny adventures coming!
I drove through this route on (24th July) towards Manipal and returned through this route on 28th July. Yes. Balehonnur to Chikmagalur to Belur is better. Google maps shows shorter route which has lot of pot holes
