    You have both been lovely to deal with. You have answered my questions, made recommendations and just been prepared to share. You are wonderful young people who are enjoying your life in a measured way. Definitely fabulous examples to younger people about what you can achieve if you believe in what you want. Happy to support you in your quest. A very informative episode, thank you. 💐🥂

    To stop the hobs and stove frame bouncing we put collapsible silicone bowls (dog bowls from the reject shop) over the hob, then put the frame on, then lay tea towels then close the lid 👍🏾

    Cam for the swift stove fully agree, my solution was a hand towel between the grill and top and I use a child lock to keep the lid secure. So far so good. Hope this helps. 😊

    Maybe a tip for those asking to make life easier when reversing the van, if you grab the steering at the bottom instead of the top and pull the wheel in the direction that you want the back of the van to go it makes it easier. 🤔

    "I'm wrapping it up" 😂
    Had the same experience with the swift stove top. Ended up getting a new and improved "grate/top" under warranty that fixed the issue, re glued the seal myself and got a new ignitor under warranty that needed fitting by a gas fitter.

    We have a Thetford stove top and grill. All the rubbers are still working and the removable metal grill is very heavy and solid, so maybe it’s a brand thing. Your list of issues looks like ours did but they all eventually get sorted but it shouldn’t happen🥺

    Backing over my right shoulder is easier! I've heard so called "experts" teach backing this way. Whenever I'm at a site that requires a left side reverse, I end up feeling like a complete newbie - and there's always a crowd watching when this happens!
    My offsider and I have backing down to hand signals only. Watching people shout at each other while they're backing their van is a holiday sport and just plain embarrassing.
    We're lucky in WA. There's still places you can go that aren't so busy. Shhh, don't tell anyone! I'll take your recommendation on avoiding the NT while this current van popularity phase is on.
    Great episode C&T. Pleased to hear Brodie is feeling better. I'm looking forward to more episodes.
    Safe travels.

    I haven’t watched he whole video yet, but wanted to comment about reactive arthritis. I had this once, following a viral throat infection. It mainly affected my knees and ankles - I literally couldn’t walk and was in agony for weeks. The good news is that it was about 15 years ago and has never caused me an issue again.

      Wasn’t worried about the minor teething issues (it’s actually in for warranty right now for another long list of those), but i’d call brakes not working on pick up, leaks in the wall/ flooding and rewiring major issues on a brand new 100k van! Maybe our expectations are too high!

      For our 2020 6mnth lap we left the house vacant, just had fam checking up on it occasionally.
      For our 2025 lap I think we’ll probably have to rent it out. It’s so expensive to travel at the moment, we’ll need that rental income to put a dent in the mortgage repayments, while we burn through the savings travelling 😂

    So glad you got some answers about Brodie. We have the same issues with our Swift oven/ stove combo. Seals falling off, 2 burners not working, lid hinges broke etc. I thought it would be better quality. Great vid guys. Can you tell me how long it took you from Perth to Yulara? We are doing SA in 5 weeks and would love to start that way!

    Don’t know if definitely correct but recently a fellow traveller told me that you can be fined for letting grey water empty from your van while driving down the road.

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hadn’t heard that one, but can see why it could be an issue.

    Better off just getting a cheap generator if you want to rin aircon non stop 24/7 off grid. Cheap in comparison to more batteries and solar.
    To the bloke who asked about adding more battery and solar to run aircon longer.

      Lots of places don't allow generators to be run and or require them to be turned off at certain times of night.

    Hey guys,
    How was the road from Perth to Alice? Looking to do it next year and haven’t found anyone I know that’s done it haha.
    Keep up the great videos 🤙🏻

      The road was in great condition when we did it, we talk about it more in this video - th-cam.com/video/Cwd4kv2LRIo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jomcCu6AEEfMRZfp and there’s a wrap up on road conditions at the end of that vid. 🙂

    Grey water once you have stored it for 12hrs it’s considered black water and must go in a dump point

      Excellent point and something many people are not aware of. Bacteria levels can actually become dangerous. It is good practice to always dump grey water into black water disposal points.

      Yeah good point, WA health and Water Corp consider it black water after 24hrs. So not a drama for an overnighter 👍🏼
      But literally have only ever had to do this twice in a lifetime of camping!

    Great central road, thoughts on taking a Jayco expanda outback (semi Offroad) across it?

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I probably would! As long as you’ve got decent tyres, run suitable pressures and drive to conditions it won’t be an issue. Locals are driving two wheel drive sedans in and out of communities every day.

      Works really well! Definitely still using chemicals, but noticeably less smell inside the van, and can’t smell anything externally through the vent 👍🏼

    Good and bad with star link. If you are planning on getting away. Then everyone spends all the day on the phone and ipad instead of chatting to each other and getting out and doing stuff it's bad. Check weather, news and book accommodation it's great
