i've been searching for this game for nearly a decade. to the point i would look up munchers games to be left with only the number, word and super games. for the longest time i thought i hallucinated it in some acid trip and gaslit myself into thinking it was a thing i played when i was a toddler. but no. it's right here. i finally found it and its name. the only time youtube recommended helped me with anything.
The desert level was the thing I always sung in third grade. That song has been in my head for 20 years, and I couldn't remember where I got it from until today. Weird how a game can stick with you forever.
same. And only a few of the kids knew how to access it on the school computer... and then you also had to find a time to play when the adults weren't watching...
Oh wow, this brings me back. Haven't played or seen this game in 20 years! And all the sound effects just came back to me. Used to play this in school all the time.
I got this for Christmas in second grade. This was before I was medicated but this game was a ranged experience for me. I used to draw maps including where every bone was. When that level ending object would appear I remember always being transfixed by it - that TROG oil in the first one stands out. I do remember having a nightmare about the game. Sparky when he wins does a little tap dance number but I remember him doing that as suddenly 999 of the magenta color springy dudes showed up. You could click the force field box to tell you how many there were and seeing that 999 as they swarmed and blackened the screen weirded me out.
I remember getting kicked out of computer class and suspended from the computer lab in elementary because I played this game instead of working on an assignment.
I used to to play this game along with a bunch of demos from a CD called “Kid’s Choice” like 20 years ago!! I haven’t been able to find the CD and list of games online, there were some pretty cool ones.
Used to play this game all the time like about 20 years ago. Still remember all of the sights and sounds. Who knows, its probably how I got proficient in Math lol. Thanks for sharing!!
I remember playing this on the class computer in elementary school. I had no idea how to play it. I just liked the silly dog. I would play this and Mario Teaches Typing Paper plane, and Island of Dr. Quandary.
The answer to the math problem at the beginning is 34 miles. It's simple, just subtract the distance between City X and City Y from the distance between City X and City Z (77-43), and you get 34 as the difference.
thanks man I completly forgot about this game, I only played the demo but i played it over and over just like odell down under. Loved this game. youve uploaded lots of great old rare games ive played you kno your stuff. Labyrinth of time, aorund the world in 80 days, spaceship warlock
hell yeah! lol thats one of my favorites, I still listen to the all's well rafting song sometimes. Trying to claim a stake fast as you can and become a sourdough. Great game, alot of people mention oregon trail but it just makes me think of yukon trail
Syndo I once managed to get to the level of Yukoner (you have to stake a claim at one of either #1 or #2 below Bonanza Creek, the gold comes in faster, also Mecc was screwing with us, you don't get any gold bars) I mean before that I would usually claim Cheechako Hill (Yeah Carmack was kind of lying, you can get quite a bit of a fortune from that area)
My brothers and I played this game like it was Call of Duty or GTA back in the day! Even if I bought this game to get a feel of nostalgia it would be pointless on account I wouldn't even be able to find a windows 95!
I have a core memory of huddling around the classroom computer with three other kids on the last day of kindergarten (June 2001), trying to figure this game out. But because we were only 6 years old, we couldn’t troggulate… '_'
@steveball08: Barely. Vista runs a lot faster than older computers do, so the game moves a little too fast to be playable. There's programs out there like CPU Killer that purposely slow your computer down to make games like this more playable. If you get it, that might be a decent option.
love this! i remember playing this game in elementary school. id purposely get in trouble in class so i can get sent to the counselors office and play troggle trouble math on the computers lol
I FINALLY FOUND IT I thought this game was a fever dream. wow so long ago.. i'm now 27. and this game is the game that i remember all the time. i was so good at math. im putting my search in the comments to hopefullly help someone else. " children's math learning space dog flash videogame side scroller"
@mrnutt Windows 3.1 in DOSBox just uses normal directories, so I installed it through there but could run it in Vista. I haven't actually attempted to install it through Vista though... try tinkering with compatibility modes a bunch.
I can't find this game anywhere. I wish I had this but the closest I can find is an image of the game for Mac. scrounging around good will turned up a lot of good mecc games like gizmos and gadgets but this one I can't find anywhere. I wish I had bought this game from scholastic way back when I had the scholastic school catalog.
ratix98 well the internet archive should have the game on emulators. And yes that is understandable with the confusion, it's probably because that after Mecc went Bye Bye, TLC acquired the rights to some of their games, mainly the ones with the troggles and the trails (since TLC put out three more Oregon Trail games and made a better version of the Amazon Trail 2nd edition)
was there another version of this without the girl? i havent been able to find anything. its possible i just didnt remember the girl, since i only ever played this game a few times on one of the school computers. i only remembered the dog and the aliens scared the shit out of me (i had nightmares about being captured by aliens as a kid probably fueled by this game). math was never my strongest subject so that added a whole other level to my fear lol. good to see its not nearly as ominous as i remember it being.
There's a few torrents out there, but nowhere easily accessible. If you want to dole out money for it, there's really cheap copies floating around Amazon Marketplace.
This game was a spinoff of the Munchers series, and even though there's some very real Munchers games (Number Munchers, Word Munchers, etc.), yeah, that was one was just a parody they did.
@@Obscuritory I already knew it was a Munchers spinoff I just needed context, the intro looked like a specific aesthetic from the intro, I know that they look like a specific version of the games when I looked them up, when were those made? When was the spinoff made? Was there a new version / reboot between the spinoff and the specific versions they were a spinoff from?
@@alphaghoul It looks like it's *loosely* based on the Macintosh releases of the Munchers games. Those came out in 1991, and Troggle Trouble Math was in 1994. They probably just mocked up a fake Munchers game that looked close enough. A very different version of Munchers came out in 1995, but it looks very different.
@@Obscuritory So they made a spinoff that fit into a continuity from three years ago only to give it a major visual reboot one year later, sounds like a business practice that happens often.
i've been searching for this game for nearly a decade. to the point i would look up munchers games to be left with only the number, word and super games. for the longest time i thought i hallucinated it in some acid trip and gaslit myself into thinking it was a thing i played when i was a toddler. but no. it's right here. i finally found it and its name. the only time youtube recommended helped me with anything.

I've been looking for this single sound effect for over a decade. Thank you.
Ethan oops
The desert level was the thing I always sung in third grade. That song has been in my head for 20 years, and I couldn't remember where I got it from until today. Weird how a game can stick with you forever.
This
finally found it, I didn't know the name of this game but I typed the description and found it. We used to fight over this game in the 5th grade.
same. And only a few of the kids knew how to access it on the school computer... and then you also had to find a time to play when the adults weren't watching...
Yeah it was good memories I first started playing this game when I was in 1st grade
Bro same lol
Oh wow, this brings me back. Haven't played or seen this game in 20 years! And all the sound effects just came back to me. Used to play this in school all the time.
videoboysayscube Same here, as I was actually 7 when I first played this.
holy crap i found it, those sound effects bring back so many memories! I was 9 when this came out
5:02 I've had this song play in my head every so often and it's fucking weird realizing it came from a game I played over 18 years ago.
SAAAME
Glad to see this game again. One of my childhood achievements was beating this game and Oregon trail.
I got this for Christmas in second grade. This was before I was medicated but this game was a ranged experience for me. I used to draw maps including where every bone was.

I remember this

Yes! oh these were the days man, between spaceship warlock and this u r the man! Loved growing up with macintosh
I'm starting to have severe nostalgia.. Oh my childhood 😢 😫
I used to to play this game along with a bunch of demos from a CD called “Kid’s Choice” like 20 years ago!! I haven’t been able to find the CD and list of games online, there were some pretty cool ones.
Whoever made this video, thank you.
the SB 16 FM synth brings back memories
Pause at 5:13 and notice how sinister the cactus looks hahaha. Btw thank you, Obscuritory for uploading this nostalgic game :) you're amazing
Of course! I'm surprised more people don't remember this game since it was on basically every elementary school computer in the 90s.
And by the way you're a really cool person. Not everyone on youtube replies comments, be it questions or anything else. Cheers! :)
Used to play this game all the time like about 20 years ago. Still remember all of the sights and sounds. Who knows, its probably how I got proficient in Math lol. Thanks for sharing!!
I Remember this; I was VERY Young when I Played this at School. . .
Brings me back to summer school.
omg I finally found this game! even just the sound effects bring back memories of my childhood :)

I hated this game with a fiery passion. I'd panic when I'd get surrounded, and I'd forget what I was supposed to do to get rid of them all.
Oh my god dude I vaguely remembered this but could think of the name.
I couldn't figure this game out as a kid but it was the first game I found where you get to play as a dog and eat treats!

Not easily. It might be available on a few torrent sites, but I'll try to get it uploaded soon.
core memories unlocked 😭
This is like my fondest memory. This, Number Munchers, and Amazon Trail were on all the school computers.
They had an Amazon Trail???
0:27 nostalgia hit me like a brick when i heard this!
boy am I happy that I was able to find a copy of the game at my local Value Village
yeah and you may happy to know that it is also on play dos games online that you can play on your desktop
ahhh the 90s. I remember those days
...... this was, is, and always will be one of the greatest things ever made for mankind
Best part:
"What is your name?"
Butt
LOL! i remember always doing something like that in grade school. something hilariously immature
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS GAME FOR A DECADE
It’s 2019 babbby!!! where tha 80s babies??? I loved this game! And Odell Down Under
Those pink monsters would always scare me as a kid!
wow! used to play this all the time... my siblings and i would team up and try to beat it!
i wish i could find it again..
man I remember this game being so hard.
ahh this and oregon trail were my favorite computer games in school
I remember playing this game when I was a little kid. It was actually pretty fun.
I LOVED THIS GAME SO MUCH
This game was epic for sure.
When I get a Mac, I'm downloading an emulator so I can also download this game for it. I searched everywhere for Windows files in vain.
I have a core memory of huddling around the classroom computer with three other kids on the last day of kindergarten (June 2001), trying to figure this game out. But because we were only 6 years old, we couldn’t troggulate… '_'
I get the feeling that it took less then 5 minutes to do the script, sound, and voice acting.
This takes me back, but not necessarily in a good way
OMG this was my favorite game as a kid. How do I play it on these new computers....

This game just reinforced my inability to do math ... and so I stuck with dinosaur park tycoon in the computer lab :)
They need to release this on Switch
Oh god I remember this game.

i finally found it too! i thought i hallucinated this game
0:45 Off course!

You can play the full game for free here:

@Obscuritory i dont think thats the game...id be very interested in the title of this game too tho..i remember playing it as a kid
Memories...😁
His me right in the childhood
@mrnutt Windows 3.1 in DOSBox just uses normal directories, so I installed it through there but could run it in Vista. I haven't actually attempted to install it through Vista though... try tinkering with compatibility modes a bunch.
omg the memories. holy shit hahah
@Obscuritory I've tried it on every compatibility mode and I keep getting a message about how some program called SHADOW is crashing.
I looooved this game! is there anywhere to download it?
1:56 "E.T. Phone home..."
How did you get this to install on Vista? I've still got a copy of it from years ago and I can't seem to get it working.
Anybody figured out how to kill the
Troggles coming on screen?
I can't find this game anywhere. I wish I had this but the closest I can find is an image of the game for Mac.

+ratix98 uh Mecc didn't put out Gizmos and Gadgets The Learning Company did
iHeartRyanStiles

do they work for vista?

Magenta was definitely always part of it. If the Troggles were that terrifying for you, I can kinda understand why you'd blank out on the rest of it.

Everytime they showed up I was f*cked
@ethen24 Oh man! I remember that one too. Was it... Turbo Math Facts?
That voice got annoying really fast.
my computer lab teacher always made us play this dumb game.
anyone else think muncher sounds like a racial slur?
