As an NSX owner for the last 4 years I would totally recommend you get one. Cornering through mountain roads and instant accelerations have always brought a smile to my face. Especially when you flip the dial to track mode. I've gotten more random thumbs up and dangerous pictures taken from drivers next to me than I can remember. It is definitely not without it's faults though. The trunk is a lot larger than it looks and can fit a set of golf clubs in there but the exhaust is directly beneath it so it gets very hot and does have a smell that drifts into there. The side mirrors do not auto dim so if you have a truck behind you be prepared to be blind. Lastly, the Audio system is absolute garbage. Other than that. good luck on your decision and I can say I don't regret having mine even with those negatives.

Surprise! The NSX isn’t doing anything different or better than anyone else, so moot point. It’s value and the value on older models is dependent on units made, popularity and how the car was made (mostly by hand rather than machine) so that’s why you’ll pay $40k or so for a 91 NSX. Great car overall but there’s better out here. 💁🏻‍♂️

    • @Incountry
      @Incountry 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Once again that word “Underrated”, it’s the wrong word, the NSX is dismissed because everyone thinks that if it’s not a Ferrari, Porsche, mclaren or Lamborghini it’s not a super car nor worth the investment.
The Engine is superior to those aforementioned, the technical design in its approach out weighs those cars as well, because the Japanese invest so many years in the making of their cars that the likes of Ferrari continually release several updates and models in that time scale.
Underrated...? Wrong word, it’s just doesn’t come to mind.

Also, it's a bit of double entendre since the NSX is literally mechanically underrated and it's performance is as well.
Journalists sandbagged the cars performance on launch, but it punches above its weight and price tag in the real world.

It’s still a term that shouldn’t be used as it’s the journalist who’s at fault (in this content) thus proving its not Underrated but the NSX being superior in the real world and engineered to a better standard, if everyone read the articles by a minority of journalists and not test drivers then it’s the fault of the reader as they know what the Japanese are know for....
Underrated is used for everything, as a current PDO and military personnel, we were given equipment and said it was very good, as a service pistol S&W which was unreliable and unbalanced, we had a choice but had to purchase it out

You can find GTRs in the low $60k price range while the cheapest NSX I've seen online was around $129k. In all fairness, they are 2 very different animals: the GTR is a Japanese muscle car with a larger bulging body, backseats and raw power for drag racing and straight line acceleration. The NSX is more of a track weapon with a lot of New eXperimental Sportscar (NSX) stuff such as torque vectoring, hybrid drive-train, electric mode etc and has a low-slung supercar body with 2-seats and engine behind you. They are both great value for the money. Great video as always Paul! Been a fan since you slept in your R8 and decided to put a Xmas tree on top ;)

Paul, excellent review my friend. Always loved the 2015 NSX. Seriously underrated and overlooked. Performs somewhere between 991 911 Turbo S and 918 but sounds better than both. Reasons to buy: 1) Noone else has one regularly covered on the platform. 2) It's cheap to buy and to run 3) Its Hybrid, therefore kinda' future-proofed against the outlawing of gas powered cars. 3) It looks nicer and different from the competition even though it's 6 years old. 4) It's as fast as a 911 Turbo S. 5) It's more comfortable than an R8 V10 plus. 6) It sounds awesome (growl, turbo whistle, and blow off. Best from both worlds). 7) I love it so it must be worth owning!

Sounds mint. If you couldn't hear the turbo whistle you'd be forgiven for mistaking this for a much more old school V6, I think it sounds great.
The NSX is very under appreciated. It also looks to be aging very well, it does not look 5 years old.
NSX vs GTR? Only one winner in my eyes. I'd happily live with the Honda badge.

I’m not sure why you are so surprised. The remit of the original NSX was to be a super car you could drive everyday. It hit the Mark so ridiculously well that it was a victim of its own success. Nobody saw a car that never broke down, had no foibles and was bloody brilliant to drive as a super car. They just thought it was a top of the range part of the normal Honda range. But those who owned or drive one had an immediate love affair with it. New one is the same, brilliant in every respect. Just drives too well and the badge doesn’t give you snob value. But the Japanese don’t build cars with that in mind. All they care about is how you feel in the drivers seat. A truly amazing car that’s overlooked by badge hunters and glory boys.

At £90k, NSX seems like a solid choice. The NC1s are quite reliable too. Put on SOS downpipes and exhaust, and a JB1 tuning box, and you get more power and great sound. And, as everyone keeps saying, you’d be the first major car TH-camr with one.

Absolutely the most underrated super car out there, but here in good old Australia they priced it at $420,000, back in 2017. As a result only a very few cars were sold. That was 30-40k more than any other super car that you have mentioned - a GTR costing about $300k. Luxury tax on vehicles in good old Oz will kill you! At 90,000 pounds buy it! The rare factor alone will hold its value just like the original model of the early 90’s. Great video Honda have nailed it with this car.

I still kept my GTR, but it’s night and day. The NSX is just in a different universe in terms of build quality and driving experience. My NSX with JB4 pulls more average acceleration G due to the gearing and electric power than my 900whp Alpha 9 GTR. The NSX is an amazing piece of engineering. I love it.
The NSX is a very rare special car especially for the export market outside the US. There are less than 2500 in the world with around 1400 of those in the US.
