      Having worked at a place with pocket doors I can tell you this. When they fail. They fail miserably and are much harder to repair than a swing out door.

    • @robinbirdj743
      @robinbirdj743 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They often aren’t in working order. I have some; one slides well, one doesn’t. For that reason, I cannot use them (yet). The last house I was in had them too. It was c 1898. The pocket doors worked but banged a bit upon opening, squeezed, and barely fit. I think they were made a bit short. For that reason, they weren’t super convenient. I had stripped them partially and had to sell the house. Wonder if they remained, but I hope so!

    I am SO GLAD you took the time to speak about why all the woodwork on the second floor is painted. That is the number one thing that irks me about older homes with beautiful woodwork. Every single time a home goes on the market, somebody decides it will look cleaner and brighter and bigger for prospective buyers if they slap white paint everywhere. I live in an area that has so many gorgeous old homes, but finding one with original, unpainted woodwork is nearly impossible. SO...after seeing all that SPECTACULAR woodwork on the first floor, I would have been grinding my teeth if you hadn't taken the time to explain why the second floor is painted. (I learned something, too.) Thank you. This home has truly wonderful original details. What a gem! Extraordinary.

    What an exquisite home beautifully maintained by the owners. Should be a museum vs selling to future buyers who may not appreciate this fine home. Thanks for the tour.

    600k is a steal. Thank you for the tour. Interesting and informative. This would make a good movie set too. Someone should come up with a period drama and showcase this beautiful home.

    I am in ciomplete respect of you as a realtor to show these fine older homes that are historical. Most modern homes are all just cookie cuter homes with no fine character. I appreciated the owners who restored this fine home. I hope it goes to an excellent new owner.

    That house is stunning! Homes constructed prior to the 1960s were built with longevity in mind. In contrast, modern tract homes are often designed to last only around 60 years.

    A home I could only imagine I lived in in another life. I have been drawn to Victorian style since I was 7. Having had a reoccurring dream of a larger Victorian home from then, until I was twenty one.

    Amazing Victorian home! Glad you pointed out the painted trim on the second floor. A lot of people don’t know they did paint the trim in those days. I love the 1910 kitchen and bathrooms. I live in a Victorian home built in 1910. It’s a beautiful home with pocket doors, large foyer, ect.., but unfortunately the original 1910 kitchen was completely remodeled in the 60’s, and the only original 1910 bathroom part left is the floor tile. My home is in a historic district and quite a few homes in my neighborhood still have the old gasolier fixtures. Mine fortunately still has the original 1910 light fixtures in the foyer, living room, upper hallway and a few of the bedrooms. I would not change anything about the 1910 kitchen in that house. Nothing wrong with those countertops and cabinets. The current owners clearly put a large sum of money into the preservation of that home.
