    Finally a base razer blade review! I've been sick of seeing the advanced version being sent out (or bought) by people to be reviewed. Ethernet port + HDD is a good trade off for me, Ill just buy a good external monitor if I need the higher refresh rates.

  • @Blackout020
    @Blackout020 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's crazy that they advertised it as single zone lighting for the keyboard, when it is in fact 4 zones. Such a strange marketing choice. If you have the 2018 Razer blade 15 base and update to the newest version of synapse you can have the rainbow keyboard, in 4 zones. Excellent review of the laptop! I've had mine for about a week, got it for 200$ and it can play anything on high settings happily at over 60fps even in 2022. Absolutely love it and am looking forward to having it for a long time!

    I bought one of these a year and a half ago (2018 base model). It looks amazing and performance is good but their build quality is terrible. I've had multiple hardware issues with this laptop. One was the battery. It overheated and basically 'inflated' inside breaking the TouchPad functionality. Second issue was the fan inside. It started making grinding noises when its running. The fan never stops, even in idle mode. Drove me crazy. It needs to be replaced. I tried getting support through their site. I'm out of warranty and they don't provide replacements of these parts through their site. Their support is atrocious. Seems easier to just get it fixed myself. You will at some point have to deal with some issue if you purchase a Razer laptop. This was the first Razer and will be the last one I ever get from them. Huge letdown. Stay away if you want to save yourself a few headaches and money.

    The most impressive gaming laptop on the market. There are very few machines that are functional as mobile devices and gaming rigs. This one hits the nail pretty hard and is actually priced competitively. The only real downside is a mediocre 6 hours of battery life, but when you compare that to other gaming laptops, it's godlike. If I was in the market for a gaming laptop, I'd buy it right now.

I haven't had any problems, but the two main cons of this laptop are the mediocre battery life and the cooling. When playing a graphically intensive game the laptop will get pretty hot. Great video but a comparison to the 2017 14 in blade would have been great in your charts. From the Firestrike score the 15in base model is only 5-6 perfect faster than the 2017 14in model. I think I used 2017 model is way better deal! No?

    I really like the razerblade 15 but for the price and specs I wanted I had to go with the msi gs65 stealth thin with gtx 1070m gpu. The blade hands down is better, but not by enough to justify the price for me. I love the gs65. Only real complaint is heat but that's hard avoid with the gtx 1070 in a thin and lite laptop.

    Does this Blade still suffer from bad backlight bleed? I returned 2 of them with terrible bleed and buzzing AC adapter before giving up. After experiencing those problems I've read that most people experienced the same problems. The quality control was not where I would like it for the price.

    Dumb question. Is there a downside to just getting the advanced Razer and an external hard drive. Would the transfer speed from that external drive be slower than the internal drive on the "basic" version?

    I recently bought the Razer Blade 15 base model which comes with a 60HZ panel. I want to connect it to a 144hz monitor via HDMI for gaming because it’s my understanding that 144hz makes a big difference in that regard. BUT.. I also want to take my Blade 15 to class, as I am going to college. My main concern is this: when I’m not gaming, and doing more productivity centered activities, (like TH-cam, writing essays, etc.) will I notice the difference in 60HZ vs 144hz and grow to hate the panel my $1700 laptop comes with?

    • @PokePresto
      @PokePresto 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you will not notice a diffrence when watching yt and writing essays, remember a yt video is max 60fps and no one will ever care aboaut hz when writing essays.

    I don't get why they don't give you the option to upgrade to a 144hz screen. As you said 'it's a gaming laptop', why not make the screen 'gaming'. I think at this pricepoint 144hz should be standart.

      Don’t bother with MacBook... it’s always preferable to go with a windows machine and not necessarily this one but there are really good windows laptops out there that have better specs than a MacBook and you will save a lot more money. The only reason why I would recommend a MacBook in your case would be if u are using one of the Apps that can only be installed within the MacBooks iOS (such as final cut). Other than that, consider this laptop or other windows laptops out there :)

      For pure productivity, the XPS is probably going to be the better option if you can get it similarly specced. The XPS tops out at a 1050 (Ti?), so if you're going to be gaming at all, the Blade is probably the way to go.
