A serger is a game changer for sure! Mine is a BabyLock Imagine air threader I bought about 9 years ago. Go to several shops and test drive as many as you can. One thing that helped me narrow things down is service. If I had to send a machine out it was a dealbreaker. Dealers usually have in house service. Also many dealers have lessons on how to operate and use your serger to the fullest. Can’t wait to see what you create with that beautiful knit!
I can’t imagine not having my serger. I have the very basic Bernina 800DL and have never had a problem with it. Yes I have to manually thread it but because I use it so much it is easy for me. I can thread it in under a minute.
Thanks so much for your comment! 😊 I'll be going with a manual threading machine, too. I think it'll be good for me to learn how it all works and maybe later, a fancier machine. I'm so glad to hear that you've had a good experience with yours!
Hi Angela, isn’t exciting to be shopping for a new machine?? My Joann is a small store and it doesn’t sell the Viking machines 🤣🤣. I have a basic Singer serger, and it is adequate for now😉. I also buy a bunch of elastics when they are on sale👍. Take care, Karen ❤️❤️
Hi Karen! Yes, it is exciting for sure. It was funny watching the guy demonstrate the Viking machine, my husband's jaw almost dropped watching what it could do. He wasn't familiar with sergers at all and how they differ from standard sewing machines.
Can recommend a BabyLock, I have the Celebrate. I also have the Brother 1034D, and you do get what you pay for, the Brother worked ok, but the Babylock is amazing. Worth saving more. Hope that’s helpful.
Thanks for the tip! I tested a Babylock this morning at one of the local sewing shops. It was nice indeed, but might not be in the cards just yet. I appreciate the recommendation!
I need to get some elastic, but I have some at home. And I'm trying to use it up before I purchase anymore. I'm also trying to stay out of JoAnns and Hobby Lobby until I use up some of my stash. I think they are doing away with those paper flyers.
Hi Angela! I always like having various sizes of elastic on hand too. Marcy and Katherine Tilton have interesting patterns. I just realized I don’t think I’ve made a button down shirt either. I definitely would like to make one sometime though. The home dec fabric looks like it will make very nice pillows. I love Chris Stapleton too! My husband and I have tickets to see him this July 🙂 I haven’t been to a flea market it many years - sounds fun! I’ll check out the cooking channel! Glad you are feeling better!
Hi Michelle! Thanks so much for the nice comment - I am feeling better! So cool that you're going to see Chris Stapleton, wow!! How great will that be! Maybe a "Button Up Shirt" challenge would be fun for this spring! Anyone who's interested could make whichever version they like, send a photo when finished, and they could all be showcased on the channel. Hmmm.... Hope you have a great week!
@@JustMeAndMyFabric an official button up shirt challenge could prompt me to actually make one instead of keeping the idea in the back of my mind forever 🤣 Also, on the subject of tank tops from our earlier convo, I was thinking of creating my own personal “Tank Top Tuesday” challenge with the goal of completing a new one each week to try to find a favorite. Giving it a fun name instead of just thinking about it might spur me on to make a few 🤔 I have 5 yards of a basic, non-precious knit fabric that I am thinking I would use to make several from so I can compare each tank top by its pattern and take the fabric choice out of the equation since they will all be the same fabric.
I have the Viking h250 serger. It’s a good machine. There are lots of videos on TH-cam to teach you how it works. If I had a choice I’d buy one of the air threading machines instead. I didn’t understand the importance of having a serger thats easy to thread when I bought mine a year ago. so I can’t justify buying a new one now.

Love the tip regarding a vendor with in-house service. That's important to me, too. Thank you!

Hi Zelda! I think you're right about the paper flyers. Only once in a great while do ever get one anymore. Hope you're having a great week!

I love the tank top idea! A fun experiment. That would make a wonderful series idea for a new channel (😉 ☺️).

I would love to hear your machine’s names. Mine have names too. 😊
Thank you! I will share soon! Care to share the names of yours?

Hi there, I appreciate the input. It's a tough decision. Those air threading machines are $$$ though!
I have the Viking serger HClass 250s for sale for 315.00. If you are interested.
Thank you for the offer! How long have you used it? That's a great price for sure. May I ask what area you're in?
I have used it for a 1 1/2 years. Great machine!! I just bought a self threader serger. I’m in Ga.
Sound quality is not good. Echo almost
Sorry to hear this. I'll take a look and see if anything was different on my end. Hope you have a great week!
