I would fold it over only because that lovely color can be worn in a venue where youre not just casually dressed. I actually like the slightly contrasting serger thread but with it folded down you'll get a little more versatility from it? Either way is fine though.

Its more stylish and seems like it would lie more flat on your head and not have a pointy vibe from the center seam. ❤

I've made that pattern twice. It's the cutest! I used Rayon Challis but I'm sure other fabrics would be nice. I like how it drapes the body and can go with leggins or jeans and pants.

What a lovely space. This is one of the few, or the only sewing room tour I've seen where the cutting/work table doesnt have a cutting mat permanently attached. I love the finish on your tabletop. This room is so organized and subdued. Im sure its a great place to spend time.

Angela, I think you should fold it over and then slip stitch it.

Love the 3-piece hood. Much nicer than 2-piece. Like the suggestion of bias trim to cover the serging.

Hi Angela! Great explanation! I am saving this video for future reference 🙂 I looked thru all of my patterns with a hood and found 2 (out of 21) that have the 3 piece hood that I can use the pattern pieces and directions from to apply that style to any other 2 piece hood pattern. Thank you for that idea! I think it’s fine to have the serging show on a casual jacket. If you wanted to hide it you could unpick the front edge hem and fold the serged edge under and then re-sew the original hem seam. What I personally wouldn’t like about folding under the whole seam a second time to hide the serging is that would decrease the width and I like to make sure cardigans can wrap across the front well (for coziness 😊). If you have plenty extra fabric across the front already or aren’t worried about crossing it over in the front, then that would not be an issue though. (Did I even make sense? 🫡🤔)

I really like your 3-piece hood hack, Angela. Something fun to add would be to sew a pretty bias tape. Sew it to the serged edge only, so the stitch line won’t show on the outside. For a casual jacket, I think it looks fine with just the serged edge. It will be stunning if you wear something underneath with the same two colors in it! 😘

Great video. I prefer a 3 piece hood to a two piece. I recently did something similar on a hoodie. Love the bias binding idea for the hood sections. For the hem around the front I’d turn the thin overlocked edge under and then do the normal hem. It’s fantastic seeing the changes you are making as you go along.

What about making some bias binding with all your beautiful fabric?

I had same experience with a shower curtian from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It shrunk so much I had to replace it. I guess they are considered disposable 😢

I really like your idea of making it a 3 piece hood. I definitely see how that would lay better. Your chosen skirt fabric is so fabulous and will look great with your hoodie!
