  • In this video, William Kelley (Reviewer of Burgundy, Champagne, Bordeaux, Chablis and Beaujolais for ‪@RobertParkerWineAdvocate‬ ) and I pull over in Puligny-Montrachet to flesh out some of the things we had been chatting about in our drive through the region. William's prodigious knowledge extends beyond the wines of the region, and we touch here on winemaking, soils, trellising, fighter jets, climate change and a number of other topics. Safe to say it was very cold, wet and windy, so a massive shout out to our colleague Yohan Castaing (Reviewer of Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, and Languedoc-Roussillon) who did the filming for us. My iPhone battery died twice during the video (sorry), and we had to switch over to his phone for the last part... we were glad to get back in the warmth of the car, and head to William's wine cellar for a drink!

That was enjoyably informative and a delight to watch. Thank you Erin. I was interested to see William Kelley and hear him talk about Burgundy, it's terroir and his place in it, and also aligote. BTW, you rocked that scarf and coat. Awesome.

I get to go to Beaune regularly and the Chardonnay's are a different class. My personal favourite being Mersault. However, on my trips back to Australia I am always encouraged by the quality, particularly from Margaret River...sometimes comparing wines doesn't make sense and I try very hard to appreciate both styles. I think Syrah is the same. By the way Erin...you really must go again when it's warm...it's absolutely stunning!

Was in Beaune (‘bone’ in Ozspeak) in Feb-March - given what’s produced there, it’s very understated. Good video and fully agree on the diversity…one paddock to the next.😳
As a naive Aussie, I thought lleuwin estate and giaconda were the bees knees of Chardonnay; until I tried a selection of nicely aged Meursault chardonnay - amazing stuff.

They are great Chardonnays, but the church is broad and the world is wide… drink all the great Chardonnay you can find. Thanks for watching!
